Veterans Day: Back to the Basics 3

"No greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends!"

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. To my beautiful wife Dolores (Air Force), my son Glenn, my daughter in law Dian, my granddaughter Brittany, and my grandson Daniel, (All Navy), Uncle Harold Goddard (Navy), the late David Goddard (National Guard), the late Glenn Witmer (Navy), and our dear friends Sharon Saylor, (Navy), Allenberry family member John Heinze (Air Force Pilot), Oliver Ogden (Army), Pastor Richard Denison (Chaplain 193rd Air Force Reserves), and all other veterans and current military I would like to say you today... GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU, MAY HE CAUSE HIS FACE TO SHINE UPON YOU AND GIVE YOU PEACE... Thanks for you service to our country... I for one appreciate it.

If it were not for our brave men and women of the UNITED STATES MILITARY, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines, the National Guard Units such as the 28th Army and 193 Air Force from our area... Also for all you who worked so hard at home to support those who over the years went to war.... Thank you, for without the support of all these fine men and women could not get the job done.

Today is Salvation Wednesday, and let us today pray for the unsaved who might be in our military. Think about it, was the one who shot up Fort Hood saved? I think not, but I guess I am judging, but maybe he might come to Jesus now and at least save his soul.

Back to the Basics 3: John 15:13 -"No greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends!" (NIV)

When our fine men and ladies sign up for our military they go back to the basics. Yes, it is called "Basic Training". Now why would it be called that? Because it is so basic, the first thing they do is learn how to live together, how to get along with others, how to work their bodies so that they can tough it out if they see action. They also learn to clean the barracks, wash the pots and pans, clean the restrooms and all the other basic things. They also learn how to shoot a gun, but before they learn how to shoot it, they learn how to handle it safely. Brothers and sisters, we have the best military in the world, bar none!! Now if we could get our Commander in Chief on board. Come on Mr. President, support our military by working with our Generals and keeping the politics out of it.

Brothers and sisters, our Lord Jesus gave us His life for our personal freedom and it is above all the most important freedom we need. We need our loving Jesus in our hearts each day and we need to walk with Him. But think about it, right now we can walk pretty much where we want to walk in this country, and I say pretty much because we are losing the streets to the bad people at night, but the freedom we have in the United States of America is because of those who served before us...

I want you to think about this next statement I am going to make, and I want you to think about it real good. Today we could be all speaking German, or Japanese, or Korean, or some other language or we, if not fighting now, we could all be lining up to be beheaded by those Muslims who want to kill all Christians. Hey, it just happened at Fort Hood and that is in Texas, and you do remember those planes on 9/11/2001 who took them over. AMERICA, WAKE UP... LET'S GET BACK TO THE BASIC. Love our Lord God and love our country. PLEASE GOD, BLESS AMERICA... yes brothers and sisters, it is time to ask, not demand, so instead of saying God Bless America, let's get back to the basics and say Please God, Bless America. Let's pray...

Dear Father in Heaven, Please, Bless America, and Father, thank You for Jesus who died for us and thanks for all our brave men and women who died or who were willing to die for this country. All who have served in the military, Lord, knew that they might someday have their life on the line. All showed what Jesus said. No greater love... Father, thanks for my freedom, both personal and in this grand nation. Help us serve You and our Country by bringing in the lost to be saved by Jesus. I pray in Jesus name today... Amen.

Now go forth, and today if you see a veteran or a person in the uniform of our country, take time to say thank you. And be proud you can say it in English. Also remember as always to share those blessings our Lord gave you... Love ya, Dan.

  1. I noticed in your column that you mentioned a Sharon Saylor (Navy). Fifty years ago in New Castle, PA I knew a Sharon Saylor who eventually joined the Navy. Just wondering if it's the same person. Love to hear how she's doing if it's the same person. She knew my twin sister Jane and me in grades 2,3 and 4. Thanks,
    Mark
