Friday: Back to the Basics 10

Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. It is a nice morning after a really heavy thunderstorm storm last evening (yes, thunder and lightning). It was great and God is good for it was a rain event and we do not need to shovel it this morning and we did need the water. Today being Friday is the day that we pray for all those who work the fields of Harvest for our Lord Jesus. Please pray for Pastor Tony, (New Pacemaker) and for Doug Boyer, stroke. Also I am asking you to pray for Carry The Light Ministries, my wife Dolores, our ministry partner Pam Bower and me. We are going to get very, very busy. Our food bank will more than likely go over 100 families this year, this is including the 33 families that was trusted to us from Harrisburg City. Your response on the line has been wonderful and there have been a lot of readers that mailed in a check. We have food carts out in about 8 locations and we will be picking them up right after Thanksgiving. Pray that they are full, and pray God sends us people to sort and pack. Sorting packing will occur on Saturday December 5th in the afternoon, with our day of blessings on Saturday afternoon, December 12th. We will deliver to the 33 families from Harrisburg to a school location on the afternoon of December 17th... God is good and with your prayers and help it will all go through. Of course our food pantry is open year round so we do not want to empty the shelves bare for this event. Folks, thanks for sharing your blessings.

Back to the Basics 10: Matthew 22:36 - Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? 37 Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." (NIV)

I do want to keep this very basic today. As for the first one, Love the Lord your God. I want you to remember there is but one God, God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Yes, God The Father, His one and only Son and the comforter, the Holy Spirit. My friends, there is no other god, none, zip, zero, but a lot of people make gods out of people and stuff. I talked about it last week and I am not going to repeat it. Just remember this is one of the great commandments.

Here is the other... Love your neighbor as yourself. Brothers and sister, this means to me that we must really love ourselves. Some people think it is bad to love yourself, I have heard people say that. Boy that person really loves them self. Folks, please when you do this remember not to be above others, for we are to love our neighbor as our self. Now let me talk about your neighbor and my neighbor. A lot of times we think of our neighbors as those who live next door, across the street or behind us. Sometimes we call everyone on the block our neighbor. The truth is our neighbors, the way God wants us to look at it, do live across the street and next door and behind us, but they live in the same town and same state and same country and wow, in the same world. We are to love our neighbor and that means everyone. We are to love them regardless of color or even religion. Remember this from Bible school... "Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the children of the world."

Folks we are to be like Jesus, we are to live for and like Jesus the best we can, we are to be followers of Jesus. If we are truly Christians we must do this.. I confess sometimes it is hard doing that, people who have put you down over the years, who have stomped on you when you were at the bottom, who bring things up from your past, but folks, we must love God and love all these people. And remember this... and never forget it... LOVE IS NOT SEX. Making love can be feeding the poor and needy, giving blankets to the homeless, taking your old clothes to Goodwill or Salvation Army or groups like that. That is making love, folks. It seems so many people want to take over nice words and nice things (like the rainbow that God put in the sky). Folks, truly love your neighbor and truly love God... remember in this, you might be able to fool your neighbor, but you will not fool God. Let's pray.

Father in Heaven, How wonderful You are, how great and wonderful You are, Lord use us in the fields to help You bring in the lost, and Lord please, please be with all who go out and work for You. And Lord, be with Pastor Tony and be with Doug Boyer and heal them. And yes, Lord, give we in Carry The Light Ministries the strength and help to work this mission for You. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Folks, again, thanks for the support, I am overwhelmed with joy as we see what is coming in. Keep on sharing those blessings and God will keep replacing them for you. He said we can test Him on that one. Love ya, have a blessed weekend... dan.
