Dear Father in Heaven: Thanks for blessing our home this day and thanks for loving all of us. I love You also, Lord, I really do. Please keep us strong and working for You as we go with our final plans for the food distribution this Saturday. Lord, please bring us helpers and prayer warriors for the day. Lord, please help me with the message and then to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, some had snow and some did not. To this day when the weather folks call for snow I am up all night looking out the window. Then I watch the school delays and closings. Once you worked for a school district in school transportation as long as I did, well, my mind just never leaves that driver's seat on those bad days. Keep those kids safe, drivers. Those kids are not eggs. You cannot go back for another dozen if you break any of these. Time to get to the message today. I will get old 36 running to get it warmed up.
Thursday: December 11, 2014: The Big Trip (Day Four)
The answer to yesterday's question: Did God The Father ever keep a secret from His Son? The answer is yes, one time for sure. The proof comes from the Bible and not my word but in the words of Jesus.
Mark 13:32 - "No one knows the day or hour, not even the angels in Heaven, nor THE SON, but only The Father." (NIV)
Okay, the bus is warmed up and we are ready to go. Somebody in the back check, I must back up, we are turning around for a bit.
Luke 1:13 - "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John."
Luke 1:18 - Zechariah asked the angel, "How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years." The angel answered, "I am Gabriel, I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. 20 And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time. (NIV)
I wanted to just look back after seeing how Mary handled the question from Gabriel that was sent from God. Remember Mary said: "I am the Lord's servant. May it be to me as you have said." Mary was blessed. So we look back and we know that Zechariah was in the temple at the time when the Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said the following: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John."
Do not be afraid was said to Mary also. But after Zechariah heard the angel, he questioned the angel Gabriel, who was dispatched by God. He was told by Gabriel that he stands in the presence of God, or he was working for God. The news to Zechariah was good news, for he was about to be a father, but he questioned what God was about to do. And for that he was punished right on the spot, he could not talk, he was silenced. Now ladies, please do not tell your husbands to question the authority of God so God will shut him up. Or that could work the other way around.
This surely tells me of the power of prayer, for prayers had been asked for Elizabeth to have a child. Instead of this expectant father being thrilled about having a son, he questioned God's ability. God can do all things, folks, all things. Nothing is impossible with our Lord God. I pray over and over for my leg to heal each day. Will God heal it? I do not know, but I do know and understand this. He surely can if that is in His will for me. So as we put our bus away for today, I ask you this. Have you ever questioned God's ability? Be careful on that one, be careful. Did you ever stop and think about this power of God? Time to stop for today. Question for next time. Out of the Thousands of Angels in Heaven, according to the Bible, how many have been named?
Now go forth and share your blessings. Tomorrow we might take a side trip. Love ya. Please pass on my love to others.
