Tuesday 3/18/14 Goals 1

Dear Father in Heaven:  I love You, and I give You praise for another day.  Please start me fresh by forgiving me of my sins.  Yes, Lord, please give me that morning shower fresh from You.  Dear Father, I do  have a few new prayer requests this day, and Lord, as I add these on, please keep watch over those we prayed for yesterday.  Please place Your hand upon Donna and her husband and their family.  Please touch Beverly, Michael, and Michael's family.  Also be with Todd who has surgery coming and also touch Christopher.  Lord Jesus, I place again my dear brother in Christ, David, in Your hands.  Lord, touch Dolores, and Lord, be with our family, our online family, our family at The Bridges, and also my family of bus drivers.  Watch over Matthew, please, and Lord, please send us some pickers and packers to get ready for our Easter food drive for the hungry.  Lord, bless this ministry.  Now, Lord, if you would bless me with a message, I surely would appreciate it, and then help me, please, get it dispatched.  I love You, Lord, and I pray in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, please pray for those listed above.  Also, I want to make a change on this line.  You know the older I am getting the more I like looking back.  After all, I was born back when the Dead Sea was still sick, well, just kidding on that one, but the car motors were called Flat Heads.  I have been writing daily messages for nearly 20 years now, and we have been singing for twenty years.  So I pray you will like what I do, when starting Monday, and each Monday for awhile I am going to write on the subject called "looking back."  Yes, it will still be a prayer line and even the message, Looking Back, will be tied to scripture and to God.  Then on Tuesdays, I will tart the weekly series.  So let me get to the series of this week, GOALS.

Tuesday, March 18, 2014, Goals (Day One).

Luke 31:2 - At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to Him, "Leave this place and go somewhere else.  Herod wants to kill You."  32 He replied, "Go tell that fox, 'I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.'  33 In any case, I must keep going today, tomorrow and the next day -- for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!"  (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, this past Sunday morning, 43 race car drivers with great crews all got up, all having one goal, to win the race at Bristol.  One made that goal, and the other 42 did not reach the goal.

We see in our scripture that Jesus set an example for us and for me on this subject when this morning while praying for a subject He planted on my mind the subject on goals.  I was sitting on the edge of the bed and running through my mind some things I wanted to get done today.  Yes, I try each day to set goals for that day, and I try and finish them.  When praying about Goals this morning I told Jesus that one goal that I want to be the same each day is getting His word to the world and working for Him.  That would be a major goal, the rest of my daily goals would be of lesser importance.

Today, for instance, I set for myself the following goals.  Get up at 4:30 AM and I did, that was easy, I love to rise early.  Then it is make a cup of coffee or tea and pick up after our dogs.  Most often I do not get all the goals I set for each day done, and some goals we must work at over a few days or even weeks.  So we make short-term goals and long-term goals.  But that one goal that we must do each day is reach people for the Lord.  Did you notice that I changed from my goal to the goal WE must do each day and that is reach people for the Lord?  How about it?  Jesus had/has goals, and today in the scripture it talked about three days.  It seems to me that He also did a three-day event with His goal to please His Father in Heaven and save our unworthy souls.

So do you set goals for each day?  Will you be willing to come with me each day until at least Easter and set a personal goal of working for Jesus each day?  How about it?  It really is easy when you think about it, and hey, Jesus died on that tree for You and for Me, so today establish that goal of working for Jesus and get planting seeds.  Yes, have other goals also.

Okay, time to run.  I have a goal to share some blessings, mop a floor, make some lunch, and maybe even take a nap.  Go forth now and share your blessings, and how about making working for Jesus one of your daily goals?  Are you with me on this one?  Gosh, I love you folks, all of you.  Please make it a daily goal to share that love.

Pastor Dan
