Dear Father in Heaven: I love You. Please forgive me of my sins. Thanks for watching over family and friends. Lord, thank You for Art and Elaine. Bless them, Lord, bless them. Lord, please be with all those going into Your fields of Harvest this weekend and working for You. Lord, please be with Barbara Paulus, Lord, and heal her collapsed lung. Lord, please heal Dave, please, Lord, please. Please also heal Beverly. Thanks for Your healing hand on Glenn and Marie. Lord, please send the incoming snow to sea. Lord, be with those people on the missing airliner and help them be located, and we pray they are still alive. Thanks, Lord, for taking care of our K-9s and bringing home that lost cat. Lord, thanks for being with Dolores yesterday and please keep Your healing hand on her. And Lord, thanks for taking care of me, and Your healing hand would be appreciated. Now, dear Lord, if You would please help me with a message, help me dispatch it, and then help me get my message ready for Sunday, I would appreciate it. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Brothers and sisters, I want to give God praise for great neighbors, neighbors like Art and Elaine Breneman who dropped what they were doing and came to my aid. And brothers and sisters, you may put me on your prayer list as I did have a bad fall yesterday, landing face first on our driveway. New prayer requests, Barbara Paulus who has a collapsed lung. Those working for Jesus this weekend and beyond. Glenn Gamber is coming home on Saturday, Praise the Lord. Please keep your prayers coming for those on our prayer list each day. Now to the message.
Friday: March 14, 2014, It's Sharp (Day Four).
As I wrap up the lessons on how sharp a tongue can be, here are just a few more examples found in the Bible.
Isaiah 59:3 - For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wicked things. (NIV)
From our first testament we can plainly see how it is tied together that if our tongue speaks wicked things they are (most often) lies, and I am putting in the most often because you can speak things that are true and still very, very wicked. How say that, Pastor Dan? Well, if you are spreading hateful things about people, even if true, that is wicked. Okay, it is gossip and gossip can damage and ruin lives. A person who might have done some things in the past, and maybe it is just drinking or using street drugs and they go to get help. The one needing help talks to his counselor or doctor, records are kept and the one who types in the records sees what is going on, and they might be okay, then someone else, say the nurse, sees the information, and they might be okay, but let's say one of them talks about it to someone else. Or in today's market puts it on Facebook. Okay, the facts were true, but the deed was wicked. I pray you understand the example. Now on this, how could your hands get stained with blood? What if the one who went in for the help would try and hurt him/herself or even others because the problem came to light, would the blood not be on your hands? Blood is a term, it means you would help share in the guilt of what they did.
James 1:26 - If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. (NIV)
Last one. You consider yourself religious, but inside your church or even outside your church, you let your tongue, your mouth run on, and you really think you are doing good, you are indeed not and you are only deceiving or fooling yourself. And your religion is worthless, not your church, but your personal religion. I am going to say it like this, when you do these things, you are indeed ruining your relationship with our Lord Jesus. I think I labored on this long enough.
Dear Father in Heaven, forgive us when our tongue gets out of line, and Lord, forgive us of the problems we caused with our sharp tongue, and Lord, help us repent and get back near and dear to You. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Now go forth, saying only good things and sharing Your blessings. Love ya. Please pass on that love.
Pastor Dan
