Dear Father in Heaven: I love You, Lord, and I want to give thanks for my life and that of our family and friends, for the lives of our ministry team and their families, and for all who use this line and their families and friends. Lord, once gain I am humbled by just how fast things can change in this world and in our United States. Please, dear Lord, be healing those who have been wounded in Boston, be with all the medical people working around the clock, be with families who lost loved ones, help people find those family members that they cannot get in touch with. Lord, be with Sandy who has lung cancer, and also with Karen and heal her from her surgery, and protect her from more stones. Please, Lord, keep protecting this line, and now, please, dear Lord, put the message on my mind, in my heart, and help me get it typed out. In Jesus' wonderful name, I pray. Amen.
Dear sisters and brothers, I have been up most of the night watching the events that happened in Boston on Monday. Yesterday I was up early and could have gotten to the computer for a message, but God had not given me anything, so while waiting time slipped on past until we had to leave for a doctor's appointment for me. After which we went to the animal hospital to pick up our cat, who still was not discharged, so we had a nice drive and came home. Grant and Wanda were here working around our home, which is where our ministry is housed. So we put together a little lunch of hotdogs and beans and enjoyed fellowship around the table. What a great day! When I came in from outside and turned on the news, the first thing I saw was the news about the bombings in Boston. Then God gave me the message about wars. God always has a way of working things out, I am so happy He is in charge and not anyone else. Just a couple new folks to add to the prayer list. For Sandy, she has been told she has lung cancer and it is too far gone to do anything with. So we pray for healing and also for her soul, as I am not sure she is "born again." Please also pray for Karen Mummert who is recovering from surgery to remove kidney stones. I understand one was removed the size of a marble. Folks, Karen is my ex and all has been forgiven about the past, and the sin of the divorce has been removed by God. Now she is my Christian sister. Please remember we must forgive to be forgiven. Now let me move to the message, Wars and Rumors of Wars.
Tuesday 4/15/13 Wars and Rumors of Wars (Day Two).
Matthew 24:6 - "There will be wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come." (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, back when I was young, yes, go way back, as I was born in May of 1941 ... Now I do not remember much of anything about the war other than what I was told for the first years of my life, but I was told a lot after that. As I grew and now remember back, I can remember how my pop would sit with his ear to the radio listening to the news. That old radio would crack and make strange noises and my pop would tell my late brother and me to be quiet as he was listening to the news. Most often it was on the war, and folks, that was World War Two. I can remember how we would hear the "Air Raid" sirens go off during the night and I would be scared and cry. Mamma and pop would turn off all the lights and pull the blinds. The street lights would be turned off and a man with a big hat would walk up and down the street making sure the lights were off. The man was called an "Air Raid Warden" if my memory serves me right. Since that time as I grew up there have been many more was and I do not remember all of them, but until not too many years ago none had hit the United States, except for that time on December 7, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Do you remember that?
As I grew I was told by my mamma about the Bible, but as you all know I took a walk when mamma died. But I do remember her talking about wars. In Matthew in the words of Jesus it states ---
"There will be wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed."
Wow, there it is, right from the Bible, we will have was, and we will hear rumors of wars to come. You do not need to go abroad anymore to hear these things, I mean right now we are involved in Afghanistan and we hear of rumors about Korea, and we still have troops stationed around the world on land and on the sea. But wait a few minutes here, for we now have and have been having wars right here in the Good Old USA. The events in Boston yesterday just get us thinking again about 9/11/2001 and I pray we all do remember back to that day in September. But you do not need to look back that far, you do not. Look at some of our major cities and you will see wars. You say, what am I talking about? Just open your eyes and look around you, almost every night just in our area, here in nice old Central Pennsylvania, there are shootings. Between Lancaster, York, Lebanon, Harrisburg, and Carlisle, PA, you can about count on one or two of those each night. Sad to say most is our youth and a lot is young "black on black" crime. But not all of it. We have cities that after ark you better not get on the wrong street for you might not get out. Brothers and sisters, we have wars going on right here in America, right in our own neighborhoods, and why? AND WHY? God has been tossed out of schools, out of government buildings, and yes, even out of some homes. When we don't invite Him in, we are tossing Him out. Now look at these words again.
"There will be wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed."
Jesus is telling us not to be alarmed, but that is hard, folks, good advice, but hard for us to understand sometimes. Jesus is telling us that these things will happen before He comes back. Things like this do alarm us, folks, but we need to look at them as WARNINGS. Each time we hear of events like this, or school shootings, Washington and all those politicians start wanting to make new laws. WAKE UP DOWN THERE IN WASHINGTON, the laws are already written, GET OUT YOUR BIBLE and look at it.
Let me leave you today with this, God is my Fortress.
Psalm 18:2 - The Lord is my rock, my FORTRESS and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (NIV)
Dear Father in Heaven, I know You are always here for us, I am sure today will bring many praying that might have not come to You for awhile. Please swing open the door for them, as You have done for me and others often. Dear Lord, protect us today, be our fortress, and may we walk with You in all we do. In Jesus' name, I give thanks and pray. Amen.
Now go forth walking with God, and please do not fear, for God is near, hold onto each other, and again, here is an example of why we should show our love for each other and hug each other for we never know when we might get the all to go home or when the Lord might come back and take us all. Now remember also to share your blessings ... Love ya. Pass it on.
