Dear Heavenly Father, thanks for a great day on Wednesday, and thanks for being with us from start to finish. Thanks for blessing all the events that went on on this very busy day. All honor and glory to You for taking us through it. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Good Thursday Evening, my dear brothers and sisters, and yes, it does say Wednesday on the top of the page, for I really need to get this message in. Since we are past Wednesday, I will list the prayer requests in Thursday's writing that will go out after this one, God willing! Let me get right to the message.
Happy Days 3: 10/24/12
Psalm 33:3 - Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully and shout for joy. (NIV)
Let me address this in two parts. Psalm 33 starts with "sing to Him a new song." While this song might not be new, it does take a few of our readers and also me back in time. So those who know it, please join us in singing to Him, and remember it is okay to "make a joyful noise." Ready, hit it!
I have the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart, down in my heart.
I have the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart, down in my heart to stay.
I have the peace that passeth understanding down in my heart, down in my heart, down in my heart.
I have the peace that passeth understanding down in my heart, down in my heart to stay.
I have the love of Jesus, love of Jesus, down in my heart, down in my heart, down in my heart.
I have the love of Jesus, love of Jesus, down in my heart, down in my heart to stay! (Repeat it for more singing fun!)
Thanks to Tom Sansoni for putting that tune into my heart to stay for awhile ...
Now let me get on with the next part of the scripture. Psalm 33:3 ends like this. Play skillfully and shout for joy. Oh my gosh, where do we start with this one? If you did not read my message for Tuesday talking about all the blessings of the weekend and about our new kid, you should go back and read that one, and it will talk to you about our dear, dear friends Grant and Wanda Crockett. As you folks know by now, these folks work hard for Jesus and once in awhile, well, they might "play hard". Let me fix the set for you, so to speak.
Dolores and I love animals and have eleven dogs, most with special needs, as some are blind, some cannot hear, others walk cross-legged, and so on. Nine of those dogs are like us, senior citizens. We also have four cats, one pet chicken, and up until Monday night we had five goats and then Danny Boy was born. Now we have six, and while some say eight is enough, we have decided that six or maybe seven will be enough. (Our Sarah might be in the motherly way, we are not sure yet.) With that said, our billy goat, here after named Johnny, will not be a billy. Okay, here we go, and get ready to start laughing ...
Dr. Heather came by one Wednesday to do, well, what a great veterinarian does to make the billy into an ex-billy. Now enter Grant and Wanda, who, by the way, are, well, I never tell ages, but they are a tad past, well, you just need to know they are a tad past ... okay, when Grant had his last birthday we called a fire truck to put out the candles.
Now Johnny had to be caught so that Dr. Heather could give him a shot to make him lie down and be a good billy goat. Seems Johnny must have heard someone say neuter as in that one dog commercial, for he started to run, and run he did along with Jere, Sarah, and little Crockett. Janie and Danny Boy were penned up in their half of the goat house. Now if you have never been in a goat area, well, goats are not like people, they do not use these things that flush, they just put those little round things all over the ground. Now the fun begins, as those three tried to catch Johnny. Now while I was in the pen for awhile, I decided that I was not in running shape and got out. After a lot of chasing, they got Johnny by using an extra fence panel and worked him to the corner where a harness was placed around his neck, over his great big horns. The three of them got Johnny out of the pen, and now with him caught, Grant looking like a Hulk Hogan, without the chin growth, pinned Johnny to the ground, Wanda held the rope while Dr. Heather shaved off the hair under Johnny's neck and gave him a shot so he would relax. Grant still had to hold him down some while Dr. Heather set up her field operation table. Now at this point you need to know that the place took on the look of a surgery hospital while things were cleaned off and then the operation, which I will not talk about, began. After the surgery, and while he was still on the ground in recovery outside the pen, our team of Dr. Heather, Grant and Wanda, went back in the pen to catch the rest of the goats one at a time to give them their meds. I think they were watching what happened to Johnny and wanted no part of this team. I watched as Wanda did a slide like a good ball player taking a headfirst dive to home plate, only she was not on dust, she was, well, in the goat pen. Then Grant was down, then Wanda, and it reminded me of mud wrestling except, well, it was not mud. I felt bad that I could not be in there with them as it looked like such fun (yeah, right!). Anyway, after awhile, all was done, and Grant and Wanda went right back to working while I settled with Dr. Heather (a very, very fair price). Then Dolores, Grant, Wanda, and I sat down to eat, Grant and Wanda outside and Dolores and I inside. Just kidding about that, we all washed up and sat down to another great meal by Santa.
Folks you can see how I picked this scripture, for indeed while Grant and Wanda played skillfully, while Dolores and I shouted for joy. Amen.
Folks, God gave us a funny bone so we can laugh and sometimes we just need to lighten up and have a good laugh, sometimes you might even laugh so hard it brings out TEARS OF JOY! It sure did make my day another HAPPY DAY. Now in a few minutes I will be back to write again, so let's pray.
Dear Father, thanks again for giving us a way to laugh and a way to spend time with good, dear friends. Thanks for Dr. Heather and Grant and Wanda. Thanks also for Pam and all others who support the Ministries of Carry The Light. In the name of Jesus, I give all the honor and glory for all things good, and for giving us a way to laugh in times when some days the news is so bad it is hard to really laugh. Again, all glory and honor to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Now go forth and sing and laugh as you share your blessings that God entrusted to you. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
