Friday 8/10/12 Salvation Week (5)

Romans 10:9/10 - 9 That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  (NIV)

1 John 5:10/13 - 10 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart.  Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son.  11 And this is the testimony:  God has given us eternal life, and the life is in His Son.  12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.  13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.  (NIV)

Dear Father in Heaven:  Good morning, Lord, again we come to You giving You praise and honor for another day, and please, please clean us again this day and start us out clean of sins.  Bless this day, please, and also please bless the bread and juice we will be serving up this morning in communion with each other and You.  Please, Lord, let the juice stand in for Your blood and the bread for Your body as You did with Your disciples in the upper room.

Good Friday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and it is Friday and the day we are finishing up our messages on Salvation.  Today is the day when I ask you if you are ready to come fully to Christ or renew in Him if you are already saved.  No half-way stuff today, I am asking that you come fully to Christ, no messing around, no turning back.  We today are going to seal it with the body and blood of Christ, so please, if you  have not done it, go grab some bread and juice, something you can use for communion.  And while you are at it, do you have a friend, a workmate, or someone, maybe even a family member at home that you want to invite today for communion?

Prayer requests today, please keep praying for Vicki, as you know she has a very full plate, and yesterday she broke her finger.  Please keep praying for Sterling and his wife Luella, and also for Burt and his wife Patsy, and for Barbara, and please pray for Barbara's husband also.  Pray for Sara Weiser as she has Crones.  Please keep praying for our son Matthew, who is still missing.  We do not have a clue where he is or now if he is okay.  Pray that he goes back either to the hospital or back to Sonshine Ministries where he last lived.  There is also a 21 year-old lady missing from the Palmyra area, and a 19 year-old man missing in the river.  And now just on the news, a 3 year-old has walked away from her home in Lancaster, PA.  The news report on the 3 year-old states, "the 3 year-old was last seen walking away from her home."  Would someone please tell me why anyone who would see a three year-old walking away from their home would not take the child to her  home or to the police?  Folks, if we truly love God, we need to look after His children ... AMEN.

Let's get to the message.

Salvation Week (Day 5).
Brothers and sisters, to be saved, to be really saved, you must truly believe!  There is no room for question, you must believe in the Son of God and His death and resurrection, and you must confess that you do.  Everything I told you about salvation, your personal salvation, is fact, and it is fact not because I said it as a person or as a pastor but because it came from the Bible and I supported my talk with the scriptures.

We have prayed to be forgiven and I also pointed out how we must repent of our sins. Yes, we will sin again, but we cannot start each day living in the same sin we went to bed with the night before.  We must repent.

We talked about confessing and we have done it each day.  Today I have scriptures that teach us we must believe and confess.  You can review them again and again.  I do want to point this out to you just to show you that God answers our prayers.

1 John 5:14 - This is the confidence we have in approaching God:  that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him.  (NIV)

Now let's have communion with each other and with God.

Luke 22:19 - And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."  (NIV)

Take now your bread and break it and eat it ... It indeed is the body of Jesus broken for you and each time you eat, you should also remember Jesus.

Luke 22:20 - In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.  (NIV)

Brothers and sisters:  Let me just wrap it up right now.  "Jesus was born to die."  Along the way, He set many examples for how we should live and we should follow in His footsteps and walk in His light.  Jesus taught us how to pray, when we pray this prayer:

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from Evil for Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory Forever.  Amen.

He died on the cross, and if we believe, our sins died with Him.  He took our sins to the grave. j He was risen from the dead so we who believe might also be risen from the dead.  That promise is yet to come!  But we must believe, my brothers and sisters, we must believe.  Our religion or church affiliation will not get us into heaven, only Jesus will.  I showed you that scripture yesterday.  It is up to You, will you take Jesus into your heart or walk away?  Will you renew or slip back farther?  It is time to decide, for tonight it might be too late, or maybe even today.  Yesterday a lady on her way to school was hit by a police car and she was killed.  We just don't know.  Don't let it go another day.  Clear your sins, forgive others, for you must forgive others to be forgiven.  Want to see that again?  Go back up and pray again the Lord's prayer.
