Wed. Sept. 14, 2011 Commandments 3

And God spoke all these words. "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other Gods before me, You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations, of those who love me and keep my commandments."

Good Salvation Wednesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. A PRAISE REPORT TO START. Dolores is home, and she had a good first night. Please keep her in your prayers as this knee, the third right knee, must heal and this time she is in a strap-on cast that can be removed to wash, but no weight on the knee for about two months. We, like God has told us, will be taking one day at a time.

I want to thank all who have asked about her, sent cards to the hospital or to our home, and for those who sent or took in flowers. We have people who offered to bring food, and if people want to do that, please bring canned or boxed goods for the food pantry. Dolores is on a special diet, and you must remember, I am Chef Santa and I love to cook. I have the menu planned for the next week, and went out and purchased two big packs of hot dogs (kidding, folks). Anyway, back to the message... and again, thank you... But all honor and glory goes to our Lord Jesus. THANK YOU, JESUS.

Salvation Wednesday, and the day we pray for those who have not found the Lord, not Born Again, and for we who are Born Again to be following his command which orders us into the fields of harvest.

Also today, please keep praying for Blanch, and also pray for John and his family (no last name given) and it is not central Pa. John's wife died in her sleep yesterday, no medical history.

That leads me to this question on Salvation Wednesday... If that should happen to you, where are you heading? As the Bible tells us, and the signs on the old barns, "Ye must be Born Again."
Commandments Day 3: Exodus 20:1 - And God spoke all these words. 2 "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 3 You shall have no other Gods before me, 4 You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations, of those who love me and keep my commandments. (NIV)

As I go through the commandments in the Bible, you will notice I am doing more than the ten commandments in Exodus and the two great commandments given to us by Jesus in the New Testament. You also might find as God leads me that I will put others from the Bible in as I have done so far this week. So the Ten might not all fall in a row. Also I want to not write a book, just a message each day.

Ok, to start with this scripture today I want you to notice something right up front. God SPOKE all these words. I noticed this and look back at when God made the heavens and the earth. How did He make it all happen, He SPOKE it. Folks, this points out to me that our mouth is very powerful, and may I add right now that the e-mail, facebook, blogging and texting and all those other things are YOUR MOUTH. I mean it in this way. Once you speak something, once it comes out of your mouth, you cannot put it back in. You might say, I am sorry, but you cannot retract the words. Now let me tell you that you can say lots and lots of good stuff and that is good, but more than likely people will not remember you for that. But you mess up, tell a dirty joke, refer to someone as one of those nasty names, like calling a black person by the "N" word. People will remember it forever. If you get mad at a person, and we have all done it, you say something, you can say you are sorry and but it is still there... And when you press the send button what you say is out there and it is out there forever and ever and ever. I have written an email to a now friend of mine and I found out the information that was given me was wrong. I went to his house and apologized and he accepted that, but I still put it out there and I cannot take it back. The man is a reader now on this line, and we have become friends.. While, like a lot of friends, we don't always agree, but we will work it out.

So even when you forward things that are sent to you, before you follow those instructions on the end that in most cases are WRONG, check out the facts. The instructions on the end of a lot of messages going around say something like this. "Forward this to ten people and back to the one who sent it and you will be blessed." Folks, God sends out your blessings, and I can tell you that today you are going to be blessed, and it has all to do with God... Yes, you will be blessed today, for if you are reading this you can see, and you have a computer, and yes you are alive.
Ok, now to the commandments listed today. It is simple. Love God above all else and don't have idols and don't bow down to the idols or to others. Now, folks, I am not talking about an actor or actress taking a bow after a show, I am talking about people bowing down like they are God... As you all know, I love our cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses and most anything that has wheels. I fix them up, I like to drive them and I like to look at them. But you will not see me on my knees praying to them. I must tell you that one day after a near miss on the highway, I pulled off the road, Dolores was on the seat behind me, and we had a very very close call... I was shaking and when Jesus took over on the bike all was well, and we stopped along the highway, got on our knees at the guard rail and thanked God. That is not bowing down to something else, and of course in church we go to the altar to pray and we get on our knees and we pray and we might look up at the cross, but we are praying to Jesus, to the Son... We are worshiping Who was on the cross, not the cross. With those religions who have the cross with Jesus showing, I have NO problem with them, as it is just a way to remember what Jesus did for us, and in fact, I think we all need to look at both, Jesus on the cross and and also the empty cross, but we always need to worship Jesus, WHO IS ALIVE AND WELL IN HEAVEN and if you ask, in your hearts. Ok, let's wrap it up today with a confession prayer...

Dear Father in Heaven, I confess that I am a sinner, and I need Your forgiveness. Yes, Lord, I asked yesterday and I will more than likely ask again tomorrow, for I am a sinner and I need Your help in repenting... So forgive me and start me fresh and put me to work for You. Help me to follow through each door You open regardless what is on the other side. Help me, Lord, help me, please. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Tomorrow, more on the commandments of God, and we need to finish work on these of today. Hey, go forth now sharing those blessings that God has given you, and trust this, He will give you more... Now that is a promise that He will deliver, as He always delivers on His promises. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
