Thursday Sept. 8, 2011 The Days America was hit 4

He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love.

Good Thursday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. How high's the water, mamma? It's five feet high and rising. How high's the water, papa? A lot higher than that. Yes, folks, we have had a lot of rain, and in our area the water is high, the Susquehanna river might go to record heights. Right now they are calling for a 30 foot crest at Harrisburg, flood stage is 17 feet. Many, many people are flooded, in the meantime, homes are burning in Texas due to wild fires. Let's just stop and pray now for God to watch over His people as America takes a few hits on this very day.

Dear Father in Heaven, we call on you to calm the storm and to give us all peace in the midst of the storm. Lord, protect those in the paths of the storm and comfort them... In the name of Jesus, we pray... Amen.

Brothers and sisters, I appreciate your prayers for Dolores and ask you keep those prayers rolling... She is safe in the hospital, and we are high and dry here at home and the food panty is dry. I would think that we will have calls from people who will need help after the storms pass by. I have already heard of those fridges and freezers floating inside homes. I am late today as I was out picking up bread for the pantry and I have been getting food in pots to cook.

The Days America was hit: Day 4: Psalm 107:29 - He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. 30 They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love. (NIV)

We have watched all of our lives how storms have hit our homeland, we have watched in recent years large earthquakes in California and wild fires across Texas and other states. We have seen a storm called Katrina hit our Southern states and last week we watched as those storms hit New Jersey and other areas. This week Central Pennsylvania and other areas are being hit... As we pray for God to calm the storms, and He will, let us remember who has control of the weather, and the other day one newscaster said we should "cross our fingers" baseball field is not hit hard. "CROSS YOUR FINGERS." Brothers and sisters, I think I will pray rather than cross my fingers. I just want to tell all of you in the flood area that God is not going to destroy the world with water. He did make us this promise.

But you might ask, if God is in control of the weather and the storms, why in world does He not stop these storms? Do you really need to ask that question? We who have been asked to take God out of our schools, asked not to pray at events. Even when I was on the Museum of Bus Transportation we prayed aloud before each meeting and closed also with prayer. One new person came on the board, complained and then they went to "silent prayer." Maybe, just maybe our Loving God might be mad at us, and brothers and sisters, to put it in my words, maybe He might be giving us a spanking, a good old spanking. You say an all-loving God would not do that. My dear mamma would tell me she loved me, and she did, she loved me by making me meals, doing my wash and making my bed, and once in a while "tanning my backside." Maybe, just maybe if each and everyone of us believed in God and led a life that would please Him, He would protect us even better. We are all sinners saved by the Grace of our Lord Jesus and He will help you through this storm also. But again when questioned about why He has not calmed the storms, look around you, look at Washington DC and look in our public schools, and yes, and you are not going to like this one... LOOK IN THE MIRROR... Do we please God, and please notice I put we in this for I am a sinner saved by grace...

So it is time for me to go, be safe in the storm, and remember if you need food, if you lost yours or you know someone that lost theirs, we have a fair supply... and we will share our blessings will you. Please share yours... Love ya, Pastor Dan.
