May 11, 2011 Psalm 23 (Day 3)

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.

Good Salvation Wednesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters... Do you think you could do this for me today, please put this little chorus in your heart and in your mind and also on your lips. Maybe you could be humming it or singing it at work today or in the store as you walk through it.

While I know each day is special for the Lord made it, and we live to appreciate it, Salvation Wednesday is very special to me... I love this chorus and I pray you do also, so let's sing it a couple of times right now. This done by Dottie Rambo and David Huntsinger.

"Holy Spirit, Thou art welcome in this place. Holy Spirit, Thou art welcome in this place.
Omnipotent Father of mercy and grace, Thou art welcome in this place."

"Holy Spirit, Thou art welcome in this place. Holy Spirit, Thou art welcome in this place.
Omnipotent Father of mercy and grace, Thou art welcome in this place."

Dear Father in Heaven, send The Holy Spirit to our hearts and minds today and cause us to sing out and let others hear it in their minds and hearts, and may people come to You to be saved, and may our singing of this little chorus be of witness to them of our love for You... Please forgive me of my sins, I am unworthy for this, but humbly ask in the name of Jesus, in whose name I pray. Amen.

The 23rd Psalm (Day 3) Psalm 23:2 - He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. (KJV)

For all of you who are down to your last pennies and think you have nothing or about to have nothing, I want you to rejoice, for God is good. Listen to these words taken from Isaiah 14:30.

Isaiah 14:30 - The poorest of the poor will find pasture, and the needy will lie down in safety.

The poorest of the poor will find pasture. What is a pasture? A place where shepherds of old took their flocks to eat and sleep and get water to drink. It is a safe place to be. Now let's look at this and really think it through. Just another way of taking the word of God and really trusting it.
So I ask you this today, brothers and sisters, where is your green pasture, for we all have one, if we really look close. I found a green pasture the other day in a most unlikely place... I was tired and I was worn, I had been unloading boxes of food that was gifted Carry The Light Ministries food pantry. I got really tired and I was hurting. I put some cut open boxes on the floor of the trailer and yes, I just curled up in that trailer, right on the hard floor and took a nice big nap. It was my green pasture and I had no choice, I could not go on... HE MAKETH ME to lie down on a trailer floor... My green pasture.

But you are saying a green pasture is also a place to eat. Well did I say I was unloading food? I did not raid it then because I was not hungry, but if I was, let me tell you there was a bounty of food there. But what about that still water mentioned in this Psalm? He leadeth me beside the still waters... A shepherd would take his flock to a green pasture, and also look for still waters, maybe a pond, or a slow running stream so that the animals could walk out and get a drink or even cool off and not get washed away. Surely a shepherd would not want to lead his flock to the banks of the mighty Mississippi. So the other day when my green pasture was in the back of the trailer, where was the still water... Oh, that's right, the hose, the good old garden hose was right there, just turn it on and get a drink, and I did. Of course today people will tell you not to drink out of the hose, and let me tell you that if drinking from the hose were to kill you, most of us baby boomers would be dead long already... I can see the paper now, Mechanicsburg pastor dies from drinking water from a hose... NOT.

I ask you to really think about it, where is your green pasture or pastures and where is your still water? What if you could not get into your home, which is really a green pasture and what if you turned on the water and nothing came out? What would you do, and where would you go? Think about it, talk about it. What are you thinking? We have animals, they need to drink, where could you go to find that rest you need and the water you need?

The other day God worked it out, I just could not go another step, I was tired and hurting and needed the rest, so He maketh me lie down. God will take care of us, and that is one reason why I just want Him to know He is welcome. So let's sing to Him again...

Now go forth and share your blessings and sing to our Lord and pray for salvation for the unsaved and pray God uses you to help find and bring in the lost... And while you are praying, pray for my dear neighbor Art, and for his eyes... Love ya, Pastor Dan.
