"Greetings, you who are highly favored!"
Salvation Wednesday, Salvation Wednesday, pray for God to bring you nearer and nearer to Him and for you to be used to help lead others to the Lord. Remember please, you cannot save a soul, only our Lord Jesus can do that, but we are His helpers, the workers of His fields, and we are to be bringing forth the lot, telling the good news and helping them to come to Christ. Today is also a very good day for we sinners on this line to "come clean" with Jesus. So instead of prayer near the end, let's pray first today.
Dear Father in Heaven, we come today as sinners needing Your help to wash away our sins. We know that we do not live up to Your standards, but we really want to. Please forgive us of our sins and put us to work helping to share the good news of Jesus and helping to bring the lost to Your feet. Thanks for going to the cross for us, dear Jesus, and we sure love and believe that You were risen and have faith that some sweet day we will sit with You face to face and live with You forever and ever. Thanks for all of those promises, dear Lord. We give thanks for our many blessings this day. We pray again for Vicki and pray that all goes well at her doctors. We pray for Larry and his family and that his house is rebuilt so they can move back in with You and make it a home again after the fire. Thanks for all You do... I come to You thanking You for the message of today and thanking You for another day and for the bread that will be coming into our food pantry today... In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
Great Promises 3: Luke 1:26/33 26 - In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus." 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of His father David, 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; His kingdom will never end." (NIV)
Great Promises... I typed out a lot of scripture this morning and ask you to read it over a few times. Do you see the promises in the scriptures? Let's look at a few of them... While not all the promises are from God, just look at the promises there. Let's start out with the word pledged. When you pledge something are you not making a promise to someone or about something? Here in verse 27 we see the angel Gabriel talking to Mary who is pledged or promised to marry Joseph. So let's count that as two promises as one does not get pledged without the other saying YES. It is sort of like when a couple today gets married. One asks "will you marry me" and the other says "yes" and they pledge their love to each other, two make promises to each other. Most of us have been there and done that. There was one thing that most likely was different... (no virgin) did I say that??
Next promise is found in the next verse, verse 28. The promise "The Lord is with you." And folks, He has made that promise to us, and He does not break a promise, for He indeed is with us. Ok, let's move on.
Verse 31 - Old Gabe told Mary that she would be with Child and that was a promise indeed and again it was fulfilled for we all know the story of the birth of our Lord Jesus. In fact we see two promises in the first part of that verse. You will be with child, would be the first one, and you would have a son number two.
In verse 32: Here we find three promises: 1. He will be great! And He was and is and always will be. 2. He will be called the Son of the Most High! And He was and is and always will be. 3. And He will be given the throne of David. And He was...
Now verse 33 - Two promises in this verse 1. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; 2 His kingdom will never end." Le'ts look back at verse 33 and that second promise. His kingdom will never end... Here is a promise where we must have real faith in our Lord to carry it out. There are several promises like that in our Bibles. We will discuss some of them.
Now my question for you folks. Have you ever looked at all the promises that God made to us?? I must be truthful, I have looked at a few, however having God give me a message on them has really opened my eyes. How about you, folks? When you look through these verses and the promises here, think of how they affect us today, or should it be effect us? Don't know all those correct spellings, but I do know that every one of the promises of God have something to do with us today.
Go forth now sharing those blessings that Jesus promised you and has given you. Share them with all the love that Jesus did when He gave them to you... love ya, Pastor Dan.
