April 23, 2010 Feed My Sheep 5

"Simon, son of John, do you truly love me?"

Good working in the fields of harvest for Jesus, Friday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. It is Friday and a beauty at that. Wow. And it is the day we pray for all those who work the fields of harvest for our Lord Jesus as ordered by Jesus and recorded in the book of Mark.

Mark 16:15 - He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)

Feed My Sheep 5: John 21:16 - Again Jesus said, "Simon, son of John, do you truly love me?" (NIV)

I have been asking all week, have you ever disowned our Lord Jesus? I also explained how, in my opinion, we could disown God by not saying it, but just by our works. While it is very true we cannot work our way into heaven, once we are saved we must work for our Lord Jesus. Faith without works is dead, folks. So today bear with me for a while as I make things a tad personal. Now look at this, please, as Jesus speaking out, for I am as always just a messenger.

Daniel Lehman, do you truly love me? Yes, Lord, I do now, but I confess I did not always show it and did not think much about it. Feed My Sheep and talk care of them.

Now it is your turn... Put your name in this spot.

John Doe, do you truly love me? Your answer goes here... Feed My Lambs.
Mary Smith, do you truly love me? Your answer goes here... Take care of My Sheep.
Pastors, do you truly love me? Your answer goes here... Feed My Sheep.

Brothers and sisters, it is so clear to me that Jesus was not just talking to Simon Peter here and that Simon Peter was for sure not the only one to disown our Lord Jesus back in those days and He knew of course that there would be others like you and me that would come along and in our lives struggle sometimes without faith, or just not think much about it. Now, you, I am sure, noticed that I put myself in that first slot today and then I put in John Doe for the men and Mary Smith for the ladies on the line, and then I put Pastors on a separate line. While they could have fit in with the men or with the ladies, I put them on a line all by theimselves. Why would I do that? Well, folks, Pastors, all of us, are responsible for our flocks. And while we are all responsible to feed God's lambs and His sheep and to take care of them, pastors, preachers, priests, etc. are held to a higher standard.

Maybe my question to the pastors, preachers, priests, or whatever the title the "person of the cloth" as we are sometimes called should have read more like this... Pastors, do you truly love me? (me meaning Jesus here, folks, as I am working out of the book of John where Jesus reinstates Peter.)

Pastors, do you truly love me? and the pastors should answer, Yes, Lord, you know I do. Then we might hear this from Jesus... Then feed my lambs and sheep and take care of them by teaching the complete truth, and not making it political. It might go on to say, Pastors, it is not ok to marry a man to a man and a woman to a woman.. It is not ok to support abortion... and it could go on and on and on from here... Pastors, teach people the truth and teach them about Salvation through Jesus and teach them how to work for Me after they come to me to be saved.

I pray that each and every person on this line or to whom these words fall into this week can truly say that they love Jesus and that they work to show it. Do you know the day might come when we might be arrested for being a Christian for following our Lord Jesus? If you were arrested for being a Christian, could they find enough evidence to convict you? Think about it. And pastors, please do not lead the flock God has trusted to you the wrong way. All of us, each and every one must learn to feed His lambs (God's small children), feed His sheep (still God's children, but His adult children) and to take care of His sheep, in other words, keep feeding them the truth. We need to do this more and more each day, folks. So let's get busy!! Busy doing what? you ask. Feeding each other. Have you been listening? And remember the Lost Sheep... The Lost Lamb... let's all remember to go after the ones who are lost.

Dear Father in Heaven, we want to repent of our sins and work for You feeding Your lambs and sheep. And yes, Lord, I can answer today that I do truly love You, more than all these things. However, Lord, please help me to stay on that path daily... In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

Folks, have you heard the news? Franklin Graham, who was to be at the National Day of Prayer in Washington DC, has now been uninvited by our military (and you know who the commander in chief is) because he spoke out against the Muslim religion for their stance on women. Folks, cling to Jesus and hang in there and share His blessings. It could get rough before we get called home... be ready. Jesus loves You so much and I pray today that you truly love Him. I love you also... Pastor Dan.
