Dear Father in Heaven: I love You and I give You all the glory for the fact I am Born Again. However, I do need help walking with You daily. Some days are easy, and some days can be hard. I am so thrilled that You never ever leave me alone to fend for myself. Thanks for all Your blessings. Please keep Your healing hand on Mindy and heal her. Be with her family as they struggle. Please give Dolores and me guidance in what we have been pondering. Help me now with the messages of the Big Trip as we move on from the Manger. Help me also to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, all honor and glory and praise and prayer. Amen.
Dear brothers and sisters, it is time to get back into my own skin and out of that warm coat of "Donkey Dan." As we drove past many churches that display the Nativity in front of the church, most all of them are incorrect according to the Bible. Most all show Mary, Joseph, Jesus, some shepherds, and also three wise men or kings holding gifts. The real fact are, well, let us save it for the messages of the next few days. Some time ago I asked all of you how many Kings were at the manger for the birth of Jesus. The answer was ONE and of course that was KING JESUS. So as I get back to the message let us start with that part.
Monday: December 28, 2015: The Big Trip by Pastor Dan (Day Sixteen)
Luke 2:21 - On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise Him, He was named Jesus, the name the angel had given Him before He had been conceived. 22 When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took Him to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord."), 24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord "a pair of doves or two young pigeons." (NIV)
Matthew 2:1 - After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, "Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him." 3 When King Herod head this he was disturbed and all Jerusalem with him. 4 When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. 5 In Bethlehem in Judea, they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written." 6 But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel." (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, you can see that Jesus, along with Mary and Joseph, were at the manger only a few days, and then were moved on so that on the eighth day Jesus could be circumcised. This was to fulfill the Law of Moses which is still why male babies are circumcised. So they went to Jerusalem and lived in a house for awhile. Today we are going to sing about the Three Kings, but again and tomorrow we will dig further into the scriptures and find that we are not sure how many kings came to visit King Jesus after He had been relocated. We know there were three gifts, and the word kings means more than one. So it could have been two or a hundred and two, that is not important, it is the gifts that were important, and to me, not what they were, although they were the best, the important part is that a gift or gifts were given. How long has it been since you offered up a gift of any kind to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior? So let us sing today. I must tell you that when I was but a child, I did have a bad day now and then. One day we wee singing this song in Sunday School and I sang it like this.
"We three kings of Orient are
smoking on rubber cigars.
one was loaded and exploded,
following yonder star.
We two kings of Orient are
smoking on rubber cigars.
One was loaded and exploded.
I am king of Orient are
smoking on a rubber cigar.
It was loaded and exploded,
No more kings to smoke."
(But a rear to spank.)
So now we do it right.
We Three Kings of Orient Are (John Hopkins 1820-1891)
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Fields and fountain, moor and mountain,
following yonder star.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,
God I bring to crown Him again.
King forever, ceasing never,
Over us all to reign.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Frankincense to offer have I,
Incense owns a Deity nigh,
Prayer and praising, all men raising,
Worship Him, God on High.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom.
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying.
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Glorious now, behold Him arise,
King and God and Sacrifice.
Al-le-lu-ia, Al-le-lu-ia!
Peals through the earth and skies.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Oh, star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright.
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to Thy perfect light.
Dear Father in Heaven, please accept these gifts offered up from our home this day, and please help them to be used to share the love of Jesus and to lead people to the Cross of Jesus to be saved. We love You, Lord, and speaking for those on this line, I believe they all love You also. All glory and honor is Yours this day, dear Lord. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.
Now brothers and sisters, please go forth and share the love of Jesus and love Him and all others with all your heart, soul, and might. Love ya.
Pastor Dan
