Thursday 5/31/2012 The Coming of Jesus 2

Then He said to His disciples, ”The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.  Men will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘here he is!’  Do not go running off after them.  For the Son of Man in His day will be like the lightning which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.  But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Good Thursday Evening, my dear brothers and sisters.  Again, I am getting behind and doing things at the wrong end of the day.  Thursday is the day we pray for churches, schools, and families.  Pray today also for Jim Orner that God opens a door for a job.  Let’s get right to the message of this evening.

5/31/12 The Coming of the Kingdom of God!  Luke 17:22  - Then He said to His disciples, “The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it. 23 Men will tell you, ‘There he is!’ or ‘here he is!’  Do not go running off after them. 24 For the Son of Man in His day will be like the lightning which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. 25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. (NIV)

Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)

As I get started this evening, I do pray I will be right back up in the morning to wrap this up on the coming of the Kingdom of God … You will surely relate to this …

Let’s first go to Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.  As Jesus was then talking to his disciples, He, because he is the same, is talking to us.  Think of it now, we are sitting in front of Jesus and He is telling us that the time is coming, that time is coming when we are going to long to see The Son of Man … Brothers and sisters, for me, that day is here.  I long now to see our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  But until then we do have work to do.  Jesus is also telling us that others will come saying they are the Christ, but we are not to believe that, we are not to go chasing after them.  Brothers and sisters, some will be fooled and go chasing after them.  People have already done that.  Does the name “Jones” ring a bell?  And brothers and sisters, just the other day a pastor was playing with a rattlesnake because the Bible tells us that if needed we could handle that snake in the name of Jesus and it would not harm us.  But folks, that is if it is needed.  This pastor should have followed the scripture that tells us not to test God.  Oh, the snake bit the pastor and he is DEAD!  I do believe it works like this, we are a believer and we trust God and if we are walking in the mountains and a snake is near, God will see we are not hurt.  We are not to pick up the snake and show off with it.

But folks, there are signs, and they are showing up … Tomorrow we are going to talk about this, and folks, it is from the Bible.  Please folks, today, please remember that part of the scripture, Jesus Christ is the same, it is we who have changed over the years.  Hey, I am going to bed, I will be back in the morning … Have a blessed night.

Dear Father in Heaven, it is just great knowing that Jesus never changes, we know He is the same, Father, and I for one am happy about it.  Lord, protect us this day, carry our burdens, Lord, for we all have them … And Lord, give us all a good night’s rest … In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I am sorry, folks, my brain is somewhat like an egg that is broken in a pan and then mixed with a tad of milk and butter and beat around the pan … It is scrambled tonight.  So please put me in your prayers for a few days.  (Yes, pastors need prayers also.)  Now go and share your blessings.  God willing, see you in the morning.  Love ya, Pastor Dan.

P.S.  I think I am going to have some scrambled eggs before retiring …
