Monday: Lost Things

Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one!

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. It is Monday and the day we pray for our leaders, our veterans, our current military, our police and our firefighters and all those who work so hard to keep us safe and/or free. Please pray today for the families of all those lost in wars, and in military training, and those families of police who have been gunned down on our streets, and for the families of firefighters who have given their lives in service including the two who died just yesterday in the wild fires of California. Please pray also today for Oliver Ogden who was taken to the hospital over the weekend. Oliver is home but the problem has not been located yet. I am praying that God was in there first and already did all the healing. Please pray for Tom and Kathleen Sansoni. Kathleen has cancer. Tom is working with a prison ministry. Also please pray for jobs for Mark and LeaAnn, pray God will put them where they can truly work for Him. Also pray for Sue and Gina, the reasons here I must keep to myself, just trust me and pray.

Lost Things 1: One day when I was just a lad, yes, back when the streets were still dirt, my mother gave me two dimes, one for Sunday School and one to spend on myself. On the way to Sunday School I was flipping a dime in the air and it hit the ground and rolled down a storm sewer. My thinking back then was "darn it, God's dime just went down the drain." Since that time I have even seen that one in joke books.

Luke 15: 8 - "Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?" 9 "And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and says, 'rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.'" (NIV)

As I get older in life I find myself losing more and more things and I find myself spending hours upon hours looking for these things. Car keys, my wallet, tools, a screwdriver or my ratchet wrench, or my big breaker bar. About the only thing that I keep losing and find right away is the hair on my head, for it is on the hair brush. I think you get the picture here and I am not making this up. I have looked for hours for my keys to the car and find them in some very dumb places. And when I find them I rejoice and call out to Dolores I found them, praise the Lord. I rejoice in finding lost things, I really do, and maybe that is why I enjoy so much working for our Lord Jesus. Yes, we who work for Jesus and are really doing what He wants us to do in this work know the bottom line is we are looking for the lost so we can lead them to Jesus. Here is just one place in the Bible where we find the orders from God... Jesus was talking to then His eleven disciples, but now through those same words He is talking to all of us for we indeed need to be disciples of His...

Matthew 28: 18 - Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age." (NIV)

Do you see where Jesus is telling us to do this, not just pastors, but all of us, and we are to be baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. If a lost coin is so important to be used as a Parable by our Lord Jesus, just think how He feels about His lost children. Tomorrow more on this subject. Folks I am trying to keep messages shorter and that is why I am asking God to give it to me in series.

Dear Father in Heaven, please before we even pray about anything else, I ask that You wash us free of our stains of sins, even those that just came overnight in our thinking. Lord, then put us on course to seek out the lost and by doing that, Lord, help us to look deep into our own heart and soul to be sure that we are not one of the Lost. Lord, please keep us tight to your breast. And Lord, today I pray for our leaders and all the others on our prayer list. Lord, heal my friend Oliver and Lord, please, please help Mark and LeaAnne with jobs, open doors this day and let them walk in, in Your name, Jesus. Father in Heaven, be with those families who have lost loved ones regardless of how they were lost, and thanks, Lord, for those who gave their lives in the military, in police service and in fire service and also those who lost their lives in service for You. Bless their families Lord. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

Go forth sharing and sharing and sharing and do it in faith and stand tight with God as He just floods you with more blessings... God is good... love ya, dan.
