Dear Father in Heaven: I love You! Thanks for covering my sins with the Blood of Your Son and my Savior Jesus Christ. Thanks, Jesus, for dying on the cross for everyone. I pray today that more and more of those who are lost will seek You out, and I pray that You will use me and all who read this line to reach out to others and spread that Word of Salvation through Jesus. I pray today for safety of all those traveling by motorcycle to bike week in Ocean City, MD. I pray also that Christian bikers are working the streets to find the lost for You, Jesus. Please, Lord, help me now with the daily message and to get it dispatched on this our Salvation Wednesday on this line. In Jesus' Name, I give praise and offer up my prayers. Amen.
Dear brothers and sisters. Today as Dolores and I were praying and I was seeking out a message from God, He reminded me of how on many, many days I would go to the computer keyboard and sit for hours waiting for Him to give me a message. So today I came to the keyboard and waited. Here are some results of the wait!
Salvation Wednesday: September 14, 2016: Sit and Wait
Psalm 40:1 - I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. (NIV)
Today I want to roll you way back in my life, before I met Dolores. Yes, most of you know that both Dolores and I have been married before. In fact this is the third for each of us, and we have been married for 34 years, so I am going way back. I am going back to when I was married to a lady named Pat and together we lived on a small farm in Cly, PA, which is near York Haven, PA, and on this farm we had a lot of animals. One of those animals was a dog named Queenie who son Keith trained. Keith was from my first marriage, trying not to confuse anyone, just keeping it straight. Anyway, Keith trained this dog well and when he would tell his dog to sit, it sat. Keith was the dog's master and the dog would listen well. One day we were out and he put the dog food down for Queenie and told her to sit and she would do that and she would sit until he would tell her it was okay to eat the food. Well, we got called that it was time for us to eat and we went in and had lunch. After lunch we came out and Queenie was still sitting there next to her food and she was drooling but she had not taken one bite of food. You see, Queenie was waiting upon her master Keith to say it was okay to eat.
If we people would learn to Sit and Wait upon our Master, our Lord Jesus Christ, how much better off we would be! The scripture today tells us how David waited patiently for the Lord. How much patience do we have these days? We pray for something and think the prayer should be answered before we are done praying. Come on, if we all admit it we have all done that. Why should we wait? When we want something, we want it NOW! If we have patience things will be answered, and we need to remember that God hears our prayers, if we dispatch them to God the Father through His Son Jesus. I will come back to that in a minute. Let's go back to Psalm 40.
Psalm 40:2 - He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a Rock and gave me a firm place to stand. (NIV)
You can see here how David by waiting was lifted out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire. In other words David was standing deep in sin and waited upon the Lord to lift him out, and when out, he was placed on a rock, and we know that Jesus is that Rock. And we just do not have patience to wait sometimes for a few minutes.
Now let me go back to offering up those prayers and let me go to the book of John.
John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (NIV)
You need Jesus to get you into Heaven, and you also need to dispatch your prayers to our Heavenly Father through Jesus if you want them heard. Just this past week Pastor Charles Stanley talked about that also. Again our prayers are heard as we pray them and answered when God is ready to answer them. Sometimes we just do not "sit and wait" upon the Lord long enough to hear Him. Maybe we need to take a lesson from a dog and figure out how to wait upon our Master. Also we need to remember that while we need to be patiently waiting upon our Master, He is also waiting upon us to listen to Him. If you have never taken the time to give yourself to Jesus or today you want to refresh, will you pray this with me?
Dear Father in Heaven: I confess I am a sinner and today I come to You and invite Jesus into my heart. I believe that Jesus died on the Cross to save me from my own sins, and I believe He was risen from the dead by You, Father. Please wash me, cleanse me and save me, and please write my name down in the Lamb's Book of Life. I thank You, Father, for sending Your Son Jesus to do this for me. In the Name of Jesus, I ask this. Amen.
If you came to the Lord for the first time, expect your life to change. If you renewed like I just did, keep working to get nearer and nearer to Jesus. Remember once you are saved, your sins, past, present and future are covered by the Blood of Jesus, but we still need to be asking forgiveness when we mess up.
Now go forth and share your love of Jesus with others on this our Salvation Wednesday. Love ya.
