Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. Please forgive me of my sins, even those in the back of my mind. Please, Lord, watch over and heal according to Your will, Phyllis Baker and take care of Elmer so he can take care of her. Please, Lord, comfort Vicki in the death of her cat. Lord, please watch over Glenn and Marie. Lord, please touch Dolores and carry her pain. Lord, please be with our President and keep him and his family safe, and Lord, I pray for his soul. Please, Lord, be with our troops regardless of where they serve. Protect our veterans who have served us well. Please, Lord, watch over our police as they track down the killer who shot our State Police officers. Lord, protect also the K-9 tracking dogs as they are also part of our police departments. Lord, also touch my pain according to Your will for me. Now please help me with the daily message and then dispatch it. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, I welcome to the line today Phyllis and Elmer Baker. Phyllis needs prayers for healing from a stroke. Phyllis and Elmer both drove school bus at Central Dauphin School District during my tenure as Coordinator of Transportation. Elmer is still an active school bus driver, and a good one at a tad past retirement age. Elmer is 84. By the way, if you need a job and have a good driving record and a good police record, there is not one school transportation department that would not employ you. I think school bus drivers are the best drivers on the road, no exceptions, and their record across the nation will support that. I always told school bus drivers that children are not eggs; if you break a dozen, you cannot go back and get more. Now all this reminds me that I need to start writing some safety messages beside the daily message. Always, please pray for our President and other leaders, and please pray also for our troops, our police and firefighters. And PA people, please pray for Governor Tom Corbett. He is a very good man. He is pro-life. I believe he is honest. I have anointed him with oil three times and he welcomed it each time. Also beware of the "Wolf", they can bite you. Enough said. Now let em get to the message, Follow The Leader.
Monday: October 10, 2014: Follow The Leader (Day One)
Exodus 23:2a - Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. (NIV)
Back in the days of my childhood, back when the Dead Sea was still sick and the streets were still dirt, we kids would play a game of "Follow the leader." One kid would go first and the others follow, crawl under something, you followed, crawl over something, you followed, hop like a bunny, you followed (would that be the "Bunny Hop"?). Whatever that leader did, you just followed along. Of course you would take turns being the leader. I can also remember back in those days if my parents were going on a car trip with my brother and myself our car would be full, and if other families were going along in their own cars one would follow the other. Oftentimes they would put a ribbon or something on the car antenna so one could see the other ahead. Remember it was before all this fancy stuff and cell phones. Well, as kids we were playing follow the leader in the house or right outside and it was great fun. But in the cars, you needed to remember this, if you were following the leader and the leader got lost, well, guess what? You were lost also.
So why bring this up today? Well, folks, the times are different, but you can be still following the wrong leader, and if you follow the wrong leader and they are "lost," you too could become "lost." My lead-in scripture for today is that we should not follow the crowd in doing wrong. My mamma and dad would try and teach me to be a leader, not a follower. They saw I was in church, and they also taught me good work ethics. Be a leader, they said, not just someone who follows. However, there were times in my life even as a leader, not a follower, I was lost. Yes, I was, and sad to say there were others following me, even when I was lost. Sadly, there were times I was lost and did not even know I was lost. So as to not get lost, we need great leaders, and yes, I said leaders. But brothers and sisters, I will need to go right now, and yes, this will be a series, so I do pray you will "Follow The Leader" or follow along this week.
Now go forth and share your blessings. Love ya. Please pass on my love to others.
Pastor Dan
P.S. Why did the monkey put a burger on his head? Because he thought he was a griller.
Yes, starting today a new feature, always at the end, my joke of the day.
