Wednesday 5/7/14 2nd Greatest Gift 3

Dear Father in Heaven:  I love You.  Please forgive me of my sins.  Thank You for going to the cross so that I could come to You for my second birth.  Father, thank You for another beautiful day, and thanks for safety on the road today.  Lord, please be with Vicki and watch over her.  Lord, watch over Patsy, Burt, Jan, and Laura.  Lord, please keep Your hand on the Saylor family.  Thanks, Lord, for watching over our family and friends.  Thanks for watching over our ministry team.  Please keep Your blessings flowing at The Bridges, and Lord, thanks for trusting me to work for You.  On this Salvation Wednesday, as I refer to it, Lord, please lead us to the lost so we might share Your love, the Good News of Jesus Christ, so that they might be saved.  Now, Lord, please help me with the message today and then help me to get it dispatched.  In the Name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, today is Wednesday, and that means it is Salvation Wednesday on this line, the day we pray for the lost and for God to use we who are Born Again to bring the lost to the feet of Jesus to be saved.  I want to get right to the message today, for I am very, very tired.  I do wonder when I had time to work.  I start my day at 4:00 AM and most often am still at it at 11:00 PM.  I do not move fast anymore and oftentimes must stop and think about things that once came natural to me.  In short, Dolores and I do need your prayers.  And while you pray for our pain levels to go down, please pray for my short-term memory.  Now let me get to the message, God's Second Greatest Gift.

Salvation Wednesday:  May 7, 2014, God's Second Greatest Gift (Day Three)

Luke 1:26 - In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,  27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David.  The virgin's name was Mary.  28 The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored:  The Lord is with you."  29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.  30 But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.  41 You will be with child and give birth to a Son and you are to give Him the name Jesus."  (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, as I work on the message "God's Second Greatest Gift," I do want to remind you that God's Greatest Gift is Jesus, and in my opinion God's Second Greatest Gift is Mothers.  Now since this is Wednesday, and on this line it means Salvation Wednesday, I felt called to talk about Jesus, who came to this earth for our Salvation, and since we are talking about Mothers this week, I indeed want to talk about this young mother we lovingly call "The Blessed Virgin Mary," who is the Mother of our Lord Jesus.  I did type out some of the scripture about Mary and how the Angel Gabriel came to her and told her abut her upcoming birth of Jesus.  I do want to invite you to read Luke 1:26/38.  I do want to type out for all of you one more very, very important verse.

Luke 1:28 - "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered.  "May it be to me as you have said."  Then the angel left her.  (NIV)

As Mary was told about God's choice to be the Mother of our Lord Jesus, she did have many questions, like "How can I have a child when I am a virgin"  And while that was explained to her, I would think that she would be thinking, what will my family say since I am not married?  But the bottom line about our "Blessed Virgin Mary" is she was obedient to God.  She worked for the Lord, she served the Lord.  "I am the Lord's servant," Mary said.  And she did not question God or why this was to be, she just trusted and had faith.  She truly, to me, is a very, very worthy lady to have that title of "Mother," and on this Mother's Day we should just talk to our Jesus about His mamma.

So as we think about Mary, the mother of Jesus, and how Jesus was sent to earth to us to save our weary souls, I need to pick a mother for this day.  Who will it be?  Folks, today I want to point this out.  Today I want to lift up your  mother and my mother.  I want to lift all the mothers who over the years followed the footsteps of Jesus and brought their kids to Jesus to be saved.  So today let me just mention a few.  There was the late "Helen Frances Cook," the mother of my wife Dolores, who was "Born Again" and saw that Dolores was raised up in the church.  Then there as the Late Sara Margaret Kimmel Lehman, my mamma, who surely laid the groundwork for me to follow as she taught me about Jesus.  Then after my mamma died back in 1959, another lady, a mother, stepped into my life and gave me guidance.  Her name, Helen Virginia Harman.  Mother Harman is living with Keith and Kathy Harman in Colonial Park. Then there are Mothers like Karen Nadine (Witner) Mummert, the birth mother of my kids who raised them up in a Godly fashion even after our marriage went down the tube.  So, dear brothers and sisters, take a good look at your very own mother, be they alive or have moved on, treat them with love and respect.  And remember also mothers-in-law are good people also.  I was blessed to have Helen Martz Witmer as my mother-in-law.  Sunday is Mother's Day.  Please take time to honor your mother.

Now go forth and share your blessings.  Love ya.  And please pass on my love to others.

Pastor Dan
