Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. Please, Lord, forgive me of my sins. Thank You for doing that. Thanks for taking care of my family and friends. Thanks for trusting us to work for You each day. I pray, Lord, I never stop working for You. Lord, help me with the work day to day. Please watch over Patsy, Barbara, Burt, Dolores, Mimp, and Dave's family. Thanks for watching over Glenn and Marie. Lord, Lord, please help me now with a message and then help me to dispatch it. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Hi, brothers and sisters. What a great day. Grant and Wanda came and we readied the food pantry for our big pick and pack party this Saturday. I am behind in my work today and I want to get to the message. Please,if you are not coming to pick and pack, pray for us that the day goes well. Now off to the message. Meek!
Thursday, April 3, 2014, Meek! (Day Two)
1 Corinthians 10:1 - By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you. I, Paul, who am "timid" when face to face with you, but "bold" when away! 2 I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. (NIV)
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)
I want to talk to you more about being meek. Again I want to bring out to all of you that being meek is not at all like being weak. The best example of this is to give you an example by using Jesus and also showing you this in scripture. As you can see in 1 Corinthians 10:1, Paul points out that Christ is meek and also gentle. Now I want to confess to all of you that I do love Jesus very much and I think it is wonderful that He is meek and also gentle. You see, being "born again" means to me that I have become a follower of Jesus, and I really do try hard to follow Him each day of my life. And yes, I mess up a lot. By Jesus being meek and gentle, I know when I go to Him and ask Him to forgive me for my mess-ups that He will forgive me and not beat up on me. By saying beat up on me, I mean He will forgive me without "rubbing my nose in it." His love is unconditional and it lasts forever and ever. When He does need to "take me to the woodshed," so to speak, He does not yell at me or beat me, but He will show me the way I messed up (like I didn't know). He also showed me that I needed to repent and come nearer and nearer to Him. You see, the nearer you are to Jesus, the easier it is to walk with Him and to be talking with Him. If as a pastor I would scream at someone who came to me to talk to me about their messing up, how often do you think they would come, and how fast do you think the word would get out not to come to talk to me?
So brothers and sisters, if you want to be a real follower of Jesus, and I am talking 24/7 x 365, plus one on year four, then please do not worry if someone tells you that you are meek and gentle. Please just walk and talk with Jesus and be gentle, meek, and kind to all others. You say you have a hard time talking with Jesus? Maybe you think you have nothing to say to Him. The other day I went out to our "Rock of Hope" and I sat on my scooter and wanted to talk with Jesus. After confessing my daily sins (that took awhile) I really did not have much to say. So I just said over and over again, "I love You, Jesus." I love You, Jesus. I love You, Jesus. This went on for awhile, and then I sat and listened. And after listening for awhile, He spoke to my heart and He said this, "I love you also." Yes, Jesus is meek and gentle, so let us try our best to be the same way Jesus is and to be a real follower of Jesus, not just in words but also in our works.
Now go forth and share your blessings. Love ya, and please pass on that love to others.
Pastor Dan
Please also keep praying for our president.
