Brothers and sisters, I heard from Burt Emig in reference to his wife's fall the other evening. Patsy had a major fall and has been admitted to the York hospital. Let's wrap her up in prayers this day, along with those others on the prayer list. Also on Thursday during the school year we pray for our schools. It is August and let's get praying for our schools and all that go through the doors. Public, private, preschool, to schools of higher education, let's do our best to get Jesus back in our schools and back on our school buses. Let's get it started right now. Talk to your children about praying in school before lunch. You know they pray before the tests ...
Dear Father in Heaven, again I thank You for great day, and what a beauty it was and still is. Thanks for watching over this line and all that use it. Thanks for hearing our prayers for those on our prayer list, and thanks for Your hand being upon them. Please, Dear Father, heal our dear friend Patsy Emig. Lord, she had a very bad fall. Please, Lord, hear our prayers to cover our sins with Your blood. Now, Lord, please, please help me with this message and then dispatch it for me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Reminder: We are having a work session at Carry The Light Ministries Food Pantry and beyond., Saturday, August 10th. We will start at 9:00 AM with prayer and should finish before noon. Lunch will be furnished!! Our mission is to expand the shelving area so we can stock more food and also stock paper products, etc. We need to relocate more of our personal stuff. Also, we will be setting up for our new ministry outreach. Let me get to the message ... Trials and Temptations.
Thursday August 1, 2013, Trials and Temptations, Day Four.
James 1:13 - When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. 16 Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, how many times are you tempted by something or someone? The Bible tells us in James 1:13 that God will not tempt us, and we know that, however, a lot of people want to put the blame for all of the temptations that come our way on Satan. However, I think we give this master of deceit credit for things we bring upon ourselves. Look, let's be honest with each other. Satan did not send a busty woman in a halter top to the food store, for whatever reason she dressed that way to go shopping. Nor did Satan cause all the male shoppers to take a look and even stare, all except me of course. Okay, Satan did not cause me to just lie by saying I did not take a look. Many people cause their own trials and temptations by not hanging tight with Jesus. The Bible tells us that EACH ONE OF US is tempted by our own evil desires.
The Bible tells us if we give way to temptation we will be dragged away and enticed. That is why we must stay with Jesus. We must walk in His light daily and we need to follow in His footsteps. Do you know that if we would just follow the examples of Jesus we all would do fine? It might not be easy all the time, but walking with Jesus is much better than walking in sin. If we let our sins get out of hand, meaning we keep sinning, the Bible tells us that it gives birth to death. "Gives birth to Death." Brothers and sisters, we need to walk and talk with Jesus each day. This morning I went out to our garage and my mission was to install a new battery in one of my old Caddies. Now the battery is big and it is heavy and it is hard for me to lift. The hard part was getting the old battery out. I needed this special tool to clamp onto the battery and lift it out. I have the tool, but where, was the question. After looking for about half an hour, I asked God to show it to me, and He did. It was in my car barn, under the work bench on the floor, with just a small part of it sticking out. There it was. THANK YOU, JESUS. I would have saved a lot of time and a lot of walking and routing around if I had just asked Him first. When will I, your humble writer, learn to practice what I am preaching? Each morning Dolores and I pray together and do the lesson in "Our Daily Bread." However, when changing gears, we need to go back to Jesus and ask Him to help us. Remember, please, to keep your faith and do not let anyone tempt you, and please do not tempt yourself.
Now, brothers and sisters, it is time for me to run, and before I go, I want to tell you to "share your blessings." Love ya. Pass it on. Pastor Dan
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: Walk with Jesus in all you do, pray often, and when driving and walking, pray with YOUR EYES OPEN.

Salvation Wednesday 7/31/13 Trials & Temptations 3
Brothers and sisters, it is Salvation Wednesday and it is the last day of July. Can you believe that?
Prayers today for Bob Coburn, Jendi Sansoni, Eleanor Sansoni, Eleanor Saylor, Patsy & Burt Emig, Barbar and Barbara. Also for Beverly and her son David, for little Curtis and his parents and for my dear wife Dolores. And yes, you may lift me also. Salvation Wednesday and the day we pray for those who are lost, and we pray for God to lead we who are saved, so we might tell them the Good News of Jesus so they might also come to Christ. Let's go to prayer.
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks so much for another night's rest and for waking us this morning. Please, dear Lord, forgive me, forgive us who ask, of our sins and start us off clean today. Thanking you again for watching over this line and all who use it, for watching over our families, and for going to the cross for us. Jesus, thanks for all the examples You have set for us to follow, and I pray today that we, and that I will indeed walk in Your light. Look over our prayer list and Lord, handle our requests according to Your will for all of us. Yes, Thy will be done. Now, Lord, if You would, please plant the message on my mind and heart and help me with my grammar and spelling. Then, Lord, dispatch it for me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, I am back now. Yes, I have changed the layout again, listing those in need of prayer first, then going to the Lord, then the introduction, the scriptures, the message, and if I have one, a safety tip.
As I sit here in my computer room, with big windows and I am facing east, I see this really bright red sky starting to appear and that means we are to take warning for some heavy weather is heading our way. We sure do need the rain, and while some areas have had big downpours of rain, other areas did not get much if any. What we need is an all-day rain, a steady rain, for it is really dry.
Work session at Carry The Light Ministries. Saturday August 10th starting by 9:00 AM and we will stop at noon, but we should be done before that. The main object will be to move more of our personal things out of our basement so as to expand the food pantry. Work day will be held rain or shine and we will have things lined up for people to do. Coffee, soda, water, snacks will be furnished, along with a light lunch when done. Most likely hot dogs and cold cuts. A prayer table will be set up for those wanting to have prayer. Call and let me know if you are coming. Home number 691 8200; if not answered, you can leave a message or you can cut through the cheese and call my cell at 991 0754. Now let's get to the message.
Salvation Wednesday, July 31, 2013, Trials and Temptations, Day Three.
James 1:12 - Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. 13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. (NIV)
Let's dig right into the scripture. "Blessed is the man." Now let me stop right away and say this. Man means man and woman! Okay, in James 1:12 it tells us "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial." To start with, we all are blessed, and blessed each day, so we are talking about extra blessings for going forward, for walking with Jesus and not giving up when we are under trials of all types. Some of these trials might include, but are not limited to, health issues, health issues of our spouse, our parents or our children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. For some they might come nearer to God when under trial, while others under stress might turn away. For me, well, when at a very low point in my life, I came crawling back to Jesus, asking his forgiveness and working with me. Now when we "stand the test" of those trials, we will receive more or special blessings, and a lot of them will be given to us here on earth, but a lot will be given to us in heaven. The tests were not set up by God for He will not tempt us, Satan will, but most of these tests were brought upon ourselves. Our Lord Jesus has told us and it is recorded in our Bibles what we must do to get into heaven. Now while Jesus was a great teacher, and taught us a lot, there will be no surprise testing when we get to heaven's gate. It will not go like this. You arrive at the gate, and you are greeted by Saint Peter who hands you a clipboard and tells you to have a seat. Again this will not happen, but picture it, there you are with a whole group of other saints who are sitting with clipboards and you are trying to remember what good you did on earth. Yo put your name on the top, and your former address, and instead of it being like in a doctor's office where you try and remember what meds you take, you are sitting there trying to remember what good you did. Today I ask that you take a pad and pencil and you sit down and write down what good you do. What have you done to help your cause when you get to the gate? I know I will make heaven, but I pray it will not be by the "skin of my teeth", for I might die at night when my teeth are in the jar. Just kidding, folks. We do get into heaven because of our love for Jesus, but we are to be working for Him also. We cannot work our way into heaven, so that no one can boast, but once saved we are to work for Him. So sit down and list what you have done for Jesus, what you have done to help spread the good news. Now while it is very private and I DO NOT SUGGEST that you write down all of your past sins because you already gave them up, I want you to think about which line on the paper is longer the things you did for Jesus or the things you did against Jesus, meaning sins. Think about it really hard, if you multiply your good stuff by a hundred, would it equal your sins? Again, no test on paper will be done at the gate. However, your name will be written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
Tomorrow we will be talking more about who does tempt us, and the Bible tells us that it was and is not God, so who is it? Might it be Satan? The answer might surprise you. Now go forth and share those many blessings that God has given you. Love ya. Pass it on. Pastor Dan
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: Think safety in all things, not just driving. When you climb ladders, don't be wearing "flip flops" because flip flops might make you take a "flip and a flop." Open healed shoes do not always stay on your feet; you should never wear them when driving. Yesterday I talked about common sense in my message. It is really needed when it comes to safety.
Remember our new ministry. We will check your oil, tires, and other things on your car and do it for free. Please call for an appointment ... 991 0754. We will put air in your tires, top off the fluids, and show you how to do it. Another outreach of Carry The Light Ministries and it will be ready to go in a week or two.

Tuesday 7/30/13 Trials and Temptations 2
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for waking me, thanks for all You do, thanks for the coffee, and Lord, please forgive me of my sins. Lord, please be with Patsy Emig as she fell last night. Be with her husband Burt as he stands beside his dear wife. Please also be with Jendi as she has surgery tomorrow. Please be with Ken's wife and son, and Lord, I am sorry, I do not know their names. Lord, again I pray for peace across this old world and across our nation. Now, dear Lord, if You would bless me again with another message, I would sure appreciate it. Then, Lord, please dispatch it for me. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Good Morning, brothers and sisters. We now have a date for a short work session here at Carry The Light Ministries home base. It will be on SATURDAY, AUGUST 10th. We will be starting at 9:00 AM and WE WILL BE DONE by noon. Lunch will be furnished!! More about the chores in the days to come. Prayer requests that are just in and a few updates.
Jendi M. Sansoni: Jendi is having "female surgery." (Praise God, they are not looking for cancer.) Jendi is the daughter-in-law of my dear friend Tom Sansoni, and Jendi's parents own and operate Forte Music store, which is CHRISTIAN BASED.
Patsy Emig fell last night and it was reported to me she was to be admitted to the hospital. Husband Burt is really beside himself. I will keep you informed.
Ken McNellis is in need of prayer for his wife and son. I am sorry, I do not know their names, but I will try and have them for tomorrow.
Bob Durgan: Local talk show host who is retiring this week. I was blessed to pray with him "on air" yesterday.
Robert "Lee" Coburn: Surgery tomorrow at Hershey Medical Center. This is for prostate cancer.
For the family and friends of those who lost their lives on the church bus crash.
Brothers and sisters, I had a great day yesterday and so did Dolores. It was a beautiful day and we just kept on working like we were young!! After last week' messages about Paul and Job, I had to give myself an attitude adjustment. I have told you many times that God gives me messages that are not just for you, but 100% of the time I am in need of them also. Be sure to look at Pastor Dan's Safety Tip as today I take a quick look at "Is your church bus safe?" Now, brothers and sisters, let me get started on the message ...
Tuesday, July 30, 2013, Trials and Temptations, Day Two.
James 1:2 - Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
James 1:5 - If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, how is your wisdom? "Wisdom is having an understanding of what is true, right, and lasting." (American Heritage Dictionary) It involves also good common sense and good judgment. So again I ask this morning, how is your wisdom? Do you have a good understanding of what is true and right? If you are lacking in it, the Bible tells us we can ask God and He will give it to us generously, if we, if we only have faith and believe. I just need to put this in, God is good and God is great, and often we think about how He supplies our needs, like the air we breathe, the clothes we wear, the food we eat, and the water we drink, and He supplies us well. We forget, however, that God supplies our needs that go far beyond our basic life supporting needs. And brothers and sisters, those basic life supporting needs do not stop here on earth, but He of course has supplied us a way through Jesus to save us from our sins and live forever within the Kingdom of God with Jesus.
Of course you know that, or should, but in case you need to update yourself on that, please get out your Bible and read John 3:16, John 14:6, and Romans 10:9/10. But let me get back and look at wisdom.
God tells us that if we lack wisdom, we should just ask. And brothers and sisters, I know I have some wisdom, but I know I could use more, so today I just want to pause and I want to ask God for more. Will you join me please, this again is a prayer we must do on our own. This is a one-on-one prayer. Let's go.
Dear Father in Heaven, I know I have some wisdom, some understanding of things, but as I write and as I do other things in life, I need to be sure I have enough for the things I need to do, or even want to do. So Lord, I come to You, knowing that according to Your word, you will supply all I need if I just have faith and believe. And yes, Lord, I do have faith and I do believe, and I have not one doubt in my mind that You will supply it tome. So Dear Lord, I ask this of You and give thanks for I know it is already done as I ask, and I do ask in the name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, wisdom also involves good "common sense," and I can remember years ago, yes, back when I was but a child, back when those streets were still dirt, and I remember my dear mamma telling my dear pop something like this. "Webster, I know I only had two years from Shippensburg Normal School to teach, and I know you have a Bachelors degree and a Masters degree and you are studying for your Doctorate, but you don't have any common sense." Now she did not say it often, or at least where I could hear it, but she was talking about running the household or trying to run it on five to ten dollars a week for food, etc. (Can you believe that today?) So brothers and sisters, as we pray for wisdom, remember that we might need to ask for some good common sense. I am sure all of you know people who are very well educated but lack that wisdom and lack good common sense.
Remember now what our Lord tells us. We must believe and not doubt. Listen please to these words from Proverbs ...
Proverbs 1:1 - The proverbs of Solomon so of David, king of Israel: 2 For attaining wisdom and discipline, for understanding words of insight; 3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; 4 for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young, 5 let the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance. (NIV)
Remember, brothers and sisters, if you ask God and doubt that you will receive it, the Bible tells us "that man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord." So again I say, brothers and sisters, please pray in faith in all things, remember this. "Prayer is the key to Heaven, but it is Faith that unlocks the door." The Quite, word for word, well, I do not know who started that one, but I do know this, IT CAME FROM THE BIBLE. Again, you can quote me on this one. "Get in to the Word and not into the World." I will also say this, if you are praying without faith, "Save Your Breath." (My quote.) Time to check out for today, except for the Safety Tip: If your church bus safe?
Now go forth, sharing your blessings, having faith in God and living for Him. Love ya. Pass it on.
Pastor Dan
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: Is your church bus safe? First, let me qualify myself. I hold a Commercial Driver's License, I was a certified Commercial Driver's Instructor doing most of my work with buses, and mostly school buses. I also held a Commercial Driver's Examiners License. So with that said ...
Most of the churches that use buses purchase used ones. Some purchase school buses while others want those coach, or charter, type buses. Some of those used buses might have 2 or 3 million miles on them already! Some of the questions you need to ask yourself as you get on the bus, who is doing the work on the bus now? Not even all charter buses are kept in good repair, as there are a lot of operators out there not doing their job. But this is about those church buses. This past weekend, a church bus was involved in a crash, a youth pastor, his wife, who was with child, and a chaperone, were killed. Yes, four deaths on a church trip. The news quoted the driver saying "his brakes failed." If the brakes fail on a bus with air brakes, it is a matter of two things, the brakes were not adjusted properly, and the driver did not know how to or did not do his brake check before going on the road. You see, if the bus is in good repair and the service brakes fail, your Air Emergency Brakes come on the second you lose air pressure. However, if the brakes that house those emergency brakes are not adjusted properly, the bus will not stop. That is why you need a driver that knows and understands the commercial driver's license laws. And brothers and sisters, the Church bus requires the operator to have a commercial driver's license (unless it is a mini-bus).
Please, folks, do not be afraid to ask questions when you use buses for church. Lots of times it is better to rent (charter) a bus and operator, and you need to do that from a good company. Do not just rent or charter for the best price. I know for a fact that if you do operate a church bus, and you need or want some instructions, I will find you someone who will help you. Brothers and sisters, this is a time for a good quote. While you can pray and you should before each trip out in your bus, you also "need to put feet on those prayers." And you need to get the bus checked and the driver also. If you need help on this, have someone call me ... Pastor Dan, 717 991 0754.

Monday 7/29/13 Trials & Temptations
Dear Father in Heaven: Thanks for a great and wonderful weekend. Thanks for a great Sunday service at The Bridges, and Lord, thanks for the rain You sent our way. Lord, Your healing hand is needed in the Gardens Section of The Bridges and I give You all honor and glory for being there even ahead of this request. Lord, be with Eleanor Saylor as she might be needing surgery, and be with Bob Coburn as he also heads for surgery. Please, Lord, cover his cancer. Heal him as You did me, dear Lord. We still are praying for those who were raised up to love You and have drifted. Please guide them back and protect them as they drift. Lord, please be with our veterans, our military, our police, firefighters, and all who work to keep us safe and healthy. Thanks again, Lord, for all that You do. Now, Lord, please help me with the message of today and then dispatch it for me. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Good Monday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. I pray your weekend was as wonderful as ours. Please pray today for Eleanor Saylor and Bob Coburn, both of whom are heading for surgery. Please also pray for our veterans, our current military, our police, firefighters, and all who work to keep us safe and healthy. Also pray for our President and for him to come to Jesus.
We are looking for a few able-bodied people to come to our food pantry on a Saturday from about 9 AM to non to help us clean out some things as we need more space. We would be removing a lot of our stored personal things to give us more shelf space. Also a crew who might want to bring boots and help clean out the goat pen. I promise we will have you done by noon, then we will cook some hamburgers and hotdogs. One other update from our ministry camp. All of our buses are now gone. Many were donated and some were sold with our big Eagle going down the road on Friday. One bus that was sold went to the Netherlands, one bus sold furnished the money for a new ministry food trailer as the old one was rusting out. Our food pantry is growing, folks, more families coming, and as you know we like to give them a lot of food in the name of Jesus, to whom we give all honor and glory. God is good, so very, very good.
Coming tomorrow, HOW SAFE IS YOUR CHURCH BUS? Now to the message.
James 1:2 - Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. (NIV)
Let's first take a look at the word "perseverance." To have perseverance is to stay the course, and in this case we are talking about staying the course in our faith, our faith in Jesus Christ, our faith in the Written Word we find in our Bibles. The Bible tells us that we are to consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds. And while the Bible is talking of many trials, some of those trials might be coming out of courts and courtrooms and the results affect us, even though we have not had a chance to even be involved in the trial or hearing on the subject. Now you might ask, Pastor Dan, what are you talking about? Well, folks, some of those trials over the years are when our courts have made decisions to "take Bible reading out of our schools," "take prayer out of our schools." In other words try and put Jesus out of our schools. We see it all the time and we must deal with these trials and we need to work around them. One of the biggest things that have hurt us all is abortion laws, the killing of our children. Now how do we deal with it, how can we build up perseverance in our faith when these things happen? Well, here is a start, school will be opening in about four weeks. When you pass a school in your travels, pull onto the parking lot and pray for the school. Drive slowly around the school and pray over it. Pray for teachers and all others that work there, pray for the kids, and pray that they come to Jesus, pray that kids bring Jesus into the school (do that with your eyes open, please). Brothers and sisters, we have a lot, a high number, of good Christian teachers, followers of Jesus, teaching in our public schools. Pray their hands are untied and that they find a way to wear Jesus on their faces and in the way they handle children. Brothers and sisters, the only way that the non-believers and courts can kick Jesus out of our schools and other places is if we give in.
Our faith will be tested in other ways, and I talked about a lot of them last week when I talked about "The Thorn" and testing of our faith is a good thing, for it builds perseverance. Brothers and sisters, believe it or not, our faith is tested nearly every day in some way or shape or form. I want you to think about this, really think about it and pray about it. Is there anything that might happen where you would give away or give up your faith in Jesus? Please, folks, dig in, for the Bible tells us in the days ahead we will be really tested. More on that tomorrow and later this week. We need to dig in to Jesus and we need to tell others. We must fight the good fight and in the end, yes, in the end, we will win.
Now go forth and share your blessings. Love ya. Pass it on.
Pastor Dan
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: How long has it been since you checked your oil? I just heard of a person who knew his oil was low, and he drove his car anyway and the motor blew. So for the lack of getting a couple of quarters of oil, a motor is now needed. BESIDE THAT, when the motor went, it could have gone where it would have caused an accident. Check under the hood. If you don't know how, CALL US AND SET AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING YOUR CAR TO CARRY THE LIGHT MINISTRIES WHERE WE WILL CHECK YOUR TIRES, CHECK YOUR OIL AND EVEN ADD THESE THINGS. YES, A NEW PART OF OUR MINISTRY ... and you are the first to know about it as God just now gave it to me.

Friday 7/26/13 The Thorn 5
Good Morning, Dear Father. Thanks for waking me this day, and Lord, I love You. I really do love You and appreciate all You do for all of us. Thanks for watching over family and friends, and thanks for just being You. Lord, each day I want to get nearer and nearer to You. Today I pray for all those on this line who are really dear to me, Dear Father. So many friends, such dear friends and so many that I have never had the privilege of meeting them all. I am so thankful that years ago I came to You. Oh, how I love you, Lord. Thanks for the great day yesterday, from sunup until sundown, just perfect as You planned it all out. Please keep Your healing hand on those on our prayer list, and again, please bring peace in this country and around the world. I pray today for our veterans, for our military, and I pray You will keep them safe and those on the front lines, please bring them home safe and soon. Be with those who lay their lives on the line for us each day, including those in the military, the police officers in all branches, the firefighters, most of whom take no pay. Lord, be with all those who work to keep us safe and healthy including our doctors. Work through the doctors' hands. Now, Lord, please send me words for my message and then dispatch it for me, please. And please help me with spelling and grammar as I want to get it right for you. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Dear brothers and sisters, this is indeed the day that the Lord has made. So was yesterday, and unless He returns, He will make another one for us tomorrow. I don't know about you folks, but as I age, each day is better than the day before, each breath of air is more special than the one before that. Today please pray for our military, past and present, pray for police and firefighters. And while praying for firefighters, please pray for Robert "Lee" Coburn as he will be having surgery for cancer next week. Also pray for this line and the devil keeps his hands off of it. God is so good, folks. Now let me see if I can wrap up this series. So how many thorns do you have stuck in you?
Friday July 26, 2013, The Thorn, Day Five.
2 Corinthians 12:7 - To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 - But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boat all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Job 2:1 - On another day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them to present himself before Him. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it." 3 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited Me against him to ruin him without any reason.
Job 2:4 - "Skin for skin!" Satan replied. "A man will give all he has for his own life. 5 But stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse You to Your face." 6 The Lord said to Satan, "Very well then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life." 7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. 8 Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. (NIV)
Job 2:9 - His wife said to him, "Are you still holding onto your integrity? Curse God and die!" 10 He replied, you are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, according to my Bible footnotes to "Curse God" traced back to Hebrew is an expression and means "Bless God." I wanted to trace that back for indeed some of the sayings back then were very different than now. Things have changed in words. When I came out of high school and a person would sign your yearbook saying "thanks for being gay" that would mean thanks for being a happy person. That is just one example of differences, and there are many. Things, people, and most everything has changed, except for, EXCEPT FOR JESUS, OF COURSE. You can find that of course in the Bible, and again I will point that out to all of you.
Hebrews 13: 8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)
Yesterday I left you with a few questions. Here they are. What happens next? Does Job turn from the Lord because of this sickness? What does Job's wife have to say? Just how will Job handle this?
Will Job turn from God? No, not at all, and we see his statement to his wife, "Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" Brothers and sisters, trouble does come our way, and while God is very good to us, we do have some trouble that comes from God. Maybe my best example is the weather. God is still in control of it, good or bad, sunshine and storms. And folks, Job is right, we must take the bad with the good, and indeed as we look back at some of the scriptures of this week, we find that Paul stated "That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." Trust me when I say that I have come closer to God after my motorcycle accident than before. I want to get nearer each day and as my body gets weaker, my love and strength coming from God gets stronger. How about you? How do people who do not know Jesus get through the passing of a loved one? It seems Job's wife thought he was "nuts" (my wording, not hers). But I have had people ask me point blank, where was your Jesus when you were run over? My answer was, and still is, I am alive and working for Him, and if it were not for the accident, where would I be? The pain inflicted on us, and we for sure want to get rid of it for it is indeed a thorn in our flesh, but so often it brings us nearer to our Creator and His love for us will carry us on.
God is so good, and some sweet day when we get the call to come home, home to our mansion, then the thorns will all be removed, the pain will be over, and we can be with Jesus. Until that time, I want you to again think of the pain Jesus endured for us just to take away our sins. Think of it, and think of Job and his statement "Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" Brothers and sisters, let's just get out and work for Him in all we do.
Now go forth, sharing your blessings, loving Jesus more each day, digging into The Word and sharing it with others. Jesus loves us all so much, so many people love each of us, and we need to love Jesus above all others and then we need to love family and friends and enemies just as the Bible tells us. So today and this weekend and all the days we have left, let's step out for Jesus, let's step out in faith and in love. And speaking of Love, I love ya. Pass it on.

Thursday 7/25/13 The Thorn 4
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for another really nice day. Thanks for a break in the heat, thanks for all You do for all of us, thanks for Your healing hand, thanks for the air we breathe, the clothes we wear, the food we eat and the roof we have over our heads. Dear Lord, thanks for everything Yo do for us. Please, Lord, place your healing hand on Pastor Carol and also her husband Don. Please bring peace into the world, Lord. Now, Lord, please help me with the message and then please dispatch it. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Hi, brothers and sisters. Yes, I feel like a broken record, but it is beautiful here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Someone asked me how I was doing today, and I said I am still riding in the front of the hearse. (We have two antique hearses.) We were blessed again today as we were given an extra day of bread from our local food store, which was great as we were near the bottom of our bread freezer. Folks, God never fails, NEVER!! Just in, please pray for Pastor Carol McNair, she had a knee replaced and it looks like it is failing. Also, her husband Don, who has a large hernia. Also pray for Beverly who has a really bad back and needs to have God open a door for a job that is easier on that back. Let me get to the message.
2 Corinthians 12:7 - To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.

(NIV)
Brothers and sisters, once again I have brought forth the scriptures for the series, does this help you?
Satan and our Lord keep on talking. Our Lord was building up Job, and had said there is no one on earth like Job. Satan said, as recorded in Job 2:4, "Skin for skin." Back in those days people would trade animal skins for food and other things they needed. Trading or bartering is a neat thing. At one time I would barter fixing cars for dental work. (Don't tell the IRS.) However, it is never good if Satan has his hands on it. "Skin for Skin." When I tie this together with the next line that Satan says: "A man will give all he has for his own life," it sounds tome like Stan is willing to bet his skin against the skin of Job. I think Satan is thinking that all men would do anything to save their own skin, and the Lord is saying, not Job. So Jesus gave Job over to Satan, tossed Job under the bus, so to speak. Jesus had so much faith in Job, so much, that He placed Job into the hands of Satan with one condition, that Satan would spare his life.
Job 2:7 - So Satan went out from the present of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. (NIV)
So after the Lord released Job, Satan snatched him up, and as we know the master of evil, he thinks Job would be an easy person to take. How about you, folks, when Satan comes after you, do you let it happen or do you hang in solid with our Lord Jesus and tell Satan to get out of your life? I know that when I feel the devil is coming after me, I will call upon the name of the Lord. I will pray for Jesus to protect me and I have even yelled out telling Satan to "get out of my life and go to hell where you belong." It would sound like this ... "Satan, in the name of Jesus, in the mighty name of Jesus, get out of my life, in the mighty name of Jesus, Satan, you can go to hell." And it helps, folks, but you cannot let down your guard for Satan wants all people and he really wants those of us who love Jesus. Maybe when he keeps one soul away from it is like getting a trophy. Folks, I AM NOT GOING TO BE A TROPHY FOR SATAN, and I pray you will not want that either. Also,if you really love Jesus, make sure your family knows to look out for Satan, for when he cannot get to you, he will try hard to get to your family or your friends. So, brothers and sisters, pray for your family each and every day, pray the protection of Jesus over them and do it often.
Okay, let's put our feet into those sandals of Job. Okay, ladies, they are too big for you, put them on anyway. Okay, we love Jesus and all of a sudden we are having health problems. We pray to be healed and the pain gets worse, we pray more and it seems to hurt more. Are you giving up on Jesus? I am not, I am going to grow tighter with Jesus, and brothers and sisters, this is happening in our lives, in the lives of both Dolores and me. Let's take a look at Job 2:8.
Job 2:8 - Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. (NIV)
What is about sitting in the ashes? For that, let's look at:
Job 42:6 - Therefore, I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes. (NIV)
Okay, what happens next? Does Job turn from the Lord because of this sickness? What does Job's wife have to say? Just how will Job handle this? Tomorrow it is going to get good as we work on this thorn in our side. I ask you today as I leave you, what is your biggest thorn? Yes indeed, some have more than one.
Now go forth, sharing your blessings, loving others, sending Satan out of your lives in the name of Jesus, and know I love ya (pass it on).

Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: As we age, our reflexes slow down, so allow for that in your following distances.
2 Corinthians 12:9 - But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.
(NIV)

Salvation Wednesday 7/24/13 The Thorn 3
Praise Report ... We had prayed for Patsy and Burt's daughter Jan as she had to have surgery on her breasts for caner. Surgery over, lumps removed, cancer is gone. All glory and honor to God. SOMEONE SHOUT PRAISE THE LORD!
Dear Father in Heaven, we lift You in praise this day for the report of no cancer in Jan, all glory and honor is Yours this day. Please, dear Lord, protect Pope Francis as he travels. Thank You for looking after all of us each day. Lord, what a beautiful day You gave us this day, and again I give thanks for Your taking care of those on this line and their families. Lord, help us each day to become more and more like You. As we share our blessings, help us to share them with those who love You and also those who don't, but Lord, as we share with those who might hate You, help us to bring them to Your feet by obeying Your command to take the Good News to all people. Lord, please help Patsy and Burt each day and now, Lord, please also be with Bob Coburn as he readies for surgery next week. Now, if You will, dear Lord, please help me with the message and then dispatch it for me. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Hi, brothers and sisters. Yes, it was, sure was, a beautiful day here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Wednesday, and it is Salvation Wednesday, and the day we pray for the lost, and pray that God will use us who are saved to go into the fields of harvest for Him. Our biggest blessing is of course being saved, and we need to share that blessing. Please, folks, be you of the Catholic faith or not, please pray for Pope Francis as he travels in some pretty rough areas. Let me get to the message.
2 Corinthians 12:7 - To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 - But He said tome, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (NIV)
Job 2:1 - On another day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them to present himself before Him. 2 And the Lord said to Stan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it." 3 Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited Me against him to ruin him without any reason." (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, once again I brought forth the scriptures so you might review them as the series goes forth. Today the Lord led me back into the first testament. It hate to call it the old testament, for regardless of its age, there is lots of good stuff in there. Anyway, it looks to me like our Lord is having a conversation with Satan. Now let me point this out to you right now, I must do this right now. If the Lord would take time to talk to Satan, the master of evil and deceit, then I am sure, very sure, that He will talk to any one of us, who talks to Him. I know He talks to me, now, folks, I don't hear a loud voice calling out ... HEY, PASTOR DAN, THIS IS THE LORD SPEAKING. No, our Lord Jesus talks tome by laying things on my heart. I know of people who have heard Him out loud and I believe them. But He speaks to my heart, and oftentimes when I mess up. And I confess that I do not always listen to Him, and I guess that is why I am still a sinner, an old sinner saved by grace. Think about it, brothers and sisters, if our Father, our Lord, had time to talk with Satan, don't you think He would take time for you?
The Lord and Satan talking about Job. We see the Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan replied, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it." Okay, now we have proof that Satan is roaming around the earth, going back and forth in it. In other words, he is covering all of it,and even to this day the devil is roaming around the earth, and why? He wants to get his dirty, dingy hands on all of us. I love this book, it just keeps on telling it like it is. And God keeps opening more and more of it each day. I love it.
Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." Wow, our Lord really has that high opinion of Job. Can you name just one of the others who God found blameless and upright? How about Noah? Yes, he was found blameless along with his wife and family. This is different, and our Lord is about to do something. He is going to, well, show Satan that the Lord knows His people. So might I add a few things, with a message called The Thorn, I think Satan is really a thorn in the side of the Lord, and I think we are also that way. I wonder how often as Jesus forgives me, He says, this Danny guy, he is a thorn in my side, but I love him and forgive him. But look, something is going to happen here, and yes, we will look at it on Thursday. Is the Lord going to "throw Job under the bus?" Okay, a term of today, I know, they did not have buses back then, but I must try and keep you awake. Anyway, God is building up Job, and will He hand him over to Satan, and if He does, how will Job handle it? It is getting good.
Now go forth and share your blessings, and remember this, you just cannot out-give the Lord. Love ya. Pass it on.

Tuesday 7/23/13 The Thorn 2
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for another great day yesterday, thanks for the much needed rain, and thanks for a good night's rest. Thanks for watching over the families on this lie and their extended families. Today I pray that families come back together again. I pray for healing for Eleanor Saylor and for Burt and Patsy Emig. Bobbie Tucker also needs your touch, dear Lord. I pray also for my dear friends Grant and Wanda and I want to give You all honor and glory for sending them to us years ago. Dear Lord, thanks for all those who stopped for food since Friday, and thanks to You, Lord, we have it to give out in Your name. Now, Lord, please if You will be so kind, help me with the message and then please dispatch it for me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Dear brothers and sisters, it is one really beautiful day here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Last evening we had some much needed rain. We spent a good bit of yesterday sorting food from last week's food drive, to packing food for those who were coming in. Please add Eleanor Saylor to your prayer list. Eleanor is in the Holy Spirit Hospital. Please pray also for Dan Saylor and his family and also Bob and Sharon Saylor (Bob and Sharon are brother and sister). Remember the safety tip is now at the end of the message. Now off to the message.
Tuesday July 23, 2013, The Thorn (Day Two).
2 Corinthians 12:7 - To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. (NIV)
2 Corinthians 12: 9 - But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, the I am strong. (NIV)
I repeated yesterday scriptures and I am wondering, when I do a series, does it help you? Yesterday we talked about Paul's thorn and how it, according to the Bible, was a messenger of Satan, sent to torment him (Paul). Then we see again in the scripture from yesterday that Paul asked The Lord three times, in fact it says he pleaded with the Lord to take it away from him. So today we see that Jesus is telling Paul that "His grace is sufficient for him." Jesus tells us, now please remember that what is in the Bible, what Jesus is saying, is still the same for us today, and I think I need to remind us all where that comes from.
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)
Okay, so we are the "Paul" of today, we are the disciples for Jesus, or we should be. So Jesus is telling us that "His power is made perfect in weakness." Now put in the word "our". His power is made perfect in our weakness. Remember, please, that our is me and you. So in our weakness His power comes forth. Sort of reminds me of this song. Sing a verse or two with me please.
"I am weak but He is strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong.
I'll be satisfied as long as I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Just a closer walk with Thee; grant it, Jesus, is my plea.
Daily walking close to Thee. Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
When my feeble life is o'er, time for me will be no more.
Guide me gently, safely o'er to thy Kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
Just a closer walk with Thee; grant it, Jesus, is my plea.
Daily walking close to Thee. Let it be, dear Lord, let it be."
Did you try and sound like Patsy Cline? I just love gospel music, and many, many times the songs come to me as I write for Jesus or even just when I am walking around. Let me get back to the message now.
So to honor our Lord Jesus, to honor Him this day and from now on, we need to remember this from Paul ... "for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties." We need to slip into the shoes or sandals of Paul, and we again means you and me, or me and you. We need to delight in weaknesses and in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. Then we will be made strong, and again to quote Paul, "For when I am weak, then I am strong." Can we put "we" in there? Sure we can. For when we are weak, then we are made strong.
So as much as when we have a thorn in our sides, so to speak, let us use it for good, for God, and remember that through it we will be made stronger, and that is a promise from God.
So it is time to go, so go forth now and share your blessings, and how about we go out singing and pick up on the safety message tomorrow. Love ya. Pass it on.

So it is time to go, so go forth now and share your blessings, and how about we go out singing and pick up on the safety message tomorrow. Love ya. Pass it on.
Pastor Dan

Monday 7/22/13 The Thorn (1)
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for all You do for all of us. Lord, forgive us when we slip and fall, and please, Lord, help us to stand again, and again walk in Your light. Please, Lord, guide us through this coming week, watching over Your children as they travel, work, search for work, vacation, and please, Lord, keep Your children safe world-wide. Again I pray for peace in the streets of the United States and other countries world-wide. Now, Lord, s I seek out a message for this week, I need Your help as always as I just cannot do this on my own. Send me a message each day as You so faithfully have. Help me write it and then help me dispatch it. All glory and honor to You this and everyday, in the name of Jesus I pray and give thanks. Amen.
Good Morning, dear brothers and sisters. It is a beautiful evening here at the Southern Location of the North Pole, as I started the message on Sunday evening. The safety tip is being relocated to a P.S., after the closing. I have no new prayer requests in so far this week, so let me just get started on the message. Please pray for me as I write messages each day. I sure would appreciate it.
July 22, 2013, The Thorn (Day One).
2 Corinthians 12:7 - To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, have you ever said or just thought, well there it is, another thorn in my side, another big old thorn? Now I am not talking about a thorn-like thing stuck in you from, say, a locust tree you were cleaning up in the yard. When I look back to my childhood (altogether now, back when the streets were still dirt) and it happened between first and third grades because it happened on my way home from Melrose School on Derry Street in Harrisburg, PA. Running and playing along the way with my buddy "Billy" when I fell and right on a "thorn" which lodged just below my right knee cap. I can remember how it hurt, and my parents wanted to pull it out, but I would not let them. I left it there until they started to tell me that that leg would not grow, and one leg would be shorter than the other. So I left them "dig" it out and then they cleaned it out, and my leg healed. Well, since then I have had a lot of "thorns" in me, a lot of them, but not the splinter type. So as we start the message, let's take a look at the scriptures.
The Bible tells us that Paul is the author of Corinthians, so it is Paul telling about his thorn. While we make the statement about someone being a thorn in our side, and I had a thorn in my knee, Paul just talks about a "thorn in his flesh." Paul refers to the thorn as a messenger of Satan and it was sent to torment him. Paul also said it was given to him to keep him from becoming conceited.
Have you ever had things going so well that you were bragging about it, really telling it and NOT giving the glory over to God for it? I mean I know people who have dislocated their shoulder trying to pat themselves on the back, and you know I was a braggart years ago and did not give glory to God for all things. Now dislocated their shoulder is just my figure of speech for someone who boasted about each and everything they did. Brothers and sisters, thee are times when God does set us down and even puts a stop to what we are doing and the reason might be the sins we are doing. There are other times when Satan comes after us and God will let him get to us. I want you to think about some things today as I get ready to close for today. Have you carried pain and prayed for God to take it away? We know that God does heal, and of course it is in His time and according to His will for us. How do we know He heals? It is in the Bible, and I can tell you that I have had that healing already.
The Bible tells us in Corinthians 12:8, Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
That again is Paul pleading with God. So after these prayers for his thorn to be taken away, what happened? What really happened? Well, how about coming back tomorrow to see what our Lord Jesus told him and why?
Now, my dear brothers and sisters, please go forth sharing your blessings, and if you have a thorn in your flesh, hurting in your body, look over your life to see why and join me tomorrow for some answers to why this might be going on. Share those blessings now, and remember the Safety Tip comes after this. Love ya. Pass it on.

Friday 7/19/2013 Last Supper
Dear Father in Heaven, we lift You in praise this day for all things good. We praise You and give You all honor and glory for another night's rest and for Your waking us this day. Today I ask You to comfort Donna and Dennis as they suffer from the passing of their little Boomer. Lord, how we love those animals that You have given to us. Lord, thanks for the great load of food we brought in again last night. All honor and glory to You, and thanks for "Cindy" who helped us each night with the lines dropping off food. Lord, be with each one on our prayer list and we ask for healing of them. Lord, again we thank You for bringing Grant and Wanda into our lives. They indeed are Your servants and honor You by helping others. Lord, some folks are calling for a day of protesting on Saturday, tomorrow, Lord. Please help it be peaceful, please, dear Lord, protect Your people. Now, dear Lord, help me today, help me with this special event we call communion, and Lord, help me then dispatch the message. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: Don't be a lane jumper, cutting from lane to lane. You have all seen them this day and age. Don't get involved in it, for it will, IT WILL, cause road rage.
Good morning, dear brothers and sisters. Thanks for all those who have sent us notes about Martin's passing. On this same day our friends Donna and Dennis' little Boomer also passed from this heart. He was 14. I do want to make this note for all to know. We have this order in our lives. Jesus first, people, all people, spouse, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, meaning family and friends come after Jesus, and then after that come our beloved pets. While we are heartbroken over the passing of Martin as he was with us so long and was part of our family, it does not measure up to the passing of a beloved family member. Praise God we have not had any of our children taken from us, others have, and I will never say I know how they feel, because I don't, but it must be the worst of all things that can happen in one's life, and all I can do is pray for those folks. And in this note I do not know how anyone would get by with the passing of a loved one if they did not have Christ in their lives. Who do they lean on? Folks, I need to get to the message. I love you and again, thanks for all your well wishes about Martin.
Luke 22:14 - When the hour came, Jesus and His apostles reclined at the table. 15 And He said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the Kingdom of God." 17 After taking the cup, He gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the Kingdom of God comes." (NIV)
Jesus was very eager to eat the Passover with His apostles, or disciples, as they are also called. He knew this would be the last time He would be with them, all of them together for a Passover here on earth as we know it now or as they knew it then. This is where the term "The Last Supper" comes from, for it was indeed the last supper Jesus had with them. Jesus tells them that "He will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the Kingdom of God. I believe this to mean until we have total peace, which is after the Lord comes and gets us out and to be with Him, and even later when we are all together, then we will have the meal again. Also we as Christians must remember that Jesus is/was slain on the cross, and one of the things we no longer need to do is slay a lamb on the Altar. Jesus became the Lamb of God. These are all messages for another time when I can go into full detail.
When Jesus gave thanks while holding the cup, then He had His apostles divide it among them ... So they had the fruit of the vine at their place at the table. And now after we pray and give thanks we will pick it back up in scripture. Please prepare yourself now for communion with our Lord.
Dear Father in Heaven, I give thanks today for all things. I give thanks today for the fruit of the vine, which becomes the blood of Jesus for us this day, and I give thanks for the bread which becomes the body. Lord, bless these emblems and bless all those who take of this today. And Lord, now please forgive me and all who ask of their sins so we can come to Your table clean. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Luke 22:19 - And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them saying, "This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of me." (NIV)
Please now take your bread, the body of Christ Jesus, and break it and eat it. Thank You, Jesus.
Luke 22:20 - In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My Blood, which is poured out for you." (NIV)
Take now your fruit of the vine, and think about it as you drink of the Blood of the New Covenant, the Blood of Jesus which was poured out for you. Drink now.
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for going to the cross for us, thanks today for the reminder of how Your Body was broken and Your blood spilled out for us. Thanks for giving us a way to get to heaven. In the name of Jesus, I give thanks. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, this ends our communion service today. Thanks for taking part.
Now go forth and share your blessings, and folks, every chance you get to tell one another you love them, share a hug with them and do all you can to walk each step of your life with Jesus. I love ya. Pass it on.

Thursday July 18, 2013 Get Set (part 2)
Luke 22:7 - Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 Jesus sent Peter and John saying, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover." 9 "Where do you want us to prepare for it?" they asked. 10 He replied, "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, "the Teacher asks: where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?' 12 He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there." 13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, I am back at the computer, my eyes are still wet with tears, but we must push forward with the Lord's work. Thanks for you who already responded about Martin, our Gospel K9.
As I look at the scripture above and know we are going to have communion online and then also on Sunday morning at The Bridges, I know how we must get things set for the event. There are the communion cups to fill, bread to cube, then a table to set, and it just takes times. Planning starts ahead as I need to remember to have the supplies on hand. So I make some phone calls, get some help ready to serve, and we meet and set things up. Here in the scriptures I just find more and more amazing things to point out about our Lord Jesus. Let's take a look.
Back in the days when Jesus walked the earth things were mighty different. Let me start with verse 8. Jesus sent Peter and John saying, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover." Here we find Jesus sending two of His disciples on ahead to make the preparations to eat the Passover, and of course Peter and John needed to ask, where do we go? When we move forward to verse 10, we find Jesus saying, "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house he enters." So Jesus got out His cell phone and called ahead to the security guard at the gate. No, no, you see that is just another one of the amazing things about Jesus. And more proof of how our Lord Jesus sees what we are doing all the time and just knows each one of us and our every move. Let's move on. When Peter and John got to the city, there was the man carrying the water and they, as instructed by Jesus, followed him to the upper room.
I find this amazing, and you do remember how Jesus had sent disciples ahead to find the donkey colt, and it was right where He said it would be. Brothers and sisters, thee was no pony express back then, no teletype, just walking or riding an animal. Anyway, Peter and John arrived at the home, talked to the homeowner who placed them in the upper room which was already furnished for this.
Now before I end this today I would like to give you something to think about. We see all the pictures and artwork of our Lord at the table. I would think they sat around that table so they could see and talk to each other better, they would put the mike in the middle. No, no mike back then, just talking among friends. What do you think, long table all facing one way, or a table with Jesus and His twelve disciples around it?
Okay, now I must go as Grant will be here soon and we are going out to gather food again. Pray for a lot to come in. Remember now, share your blessings and know that I love ya. Pass it on.
Pastor Dan
P.S. Remember that communion is tomorrow ...

Dear Father in Heaven, good morning, Lord, and thanks for waking us this day, and thanks for waking those who read the messages each day. Thanks for taking care of families and friends, and not just our family but all families, even those who want nothing to do with You. Dear Lord, please be with those prodigal children we had listed and so many more kids and adults who have walked away from You like I did years ago. Thank You for taking me back. Lord, please be with those we list for prayers, and today, Lord, I have this special request ... please watch over Martin Lehman and take care of him. Please, dear Lord, please let me have him for a few more years. But as always, Thy will be done. Lord, now please help me with the message and then dispatch it for me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: Watch out for alligators on the highway. This time of year you will see alligators on the highway and you do not need to be in Florida to see them!! Alligators is the truck drivers' term for tires that come apart. Most are retreaded tire that lose their top when they get hot. So beware, ALLIGATORS ARE EVERYWHERE!!
Praise Report, Grand and I brought home an estimated 500 pounds of food last evening. I estimated that as I WATCHED Grant carry the boxes. Praise report, while I still need prayers for pain, I now have it back under control. Thanks for all who pray each day.
Good morning, dear brothers and sisters. I start today by asking for you to pray for our beloved K9 Martin. Martin has been a "Gospel Dog" all of his life. I purchased Martin when he was five weeks old, and starting right then he traveled with us to gospel concerts and has been even under the pulpit when I preached a few times in churches before I went to The Bridges to pastor ten years ago. Martin has been a charmer at nursing homes for all of his 15 years. Martin is now in an animal hospital in Carlisle under the care of Dr. Heather Henry. I know you understand our love for animals, but Martin is very special to us.
Prayer requests continue for Vicki, Burt and Patsy, for Barbara X 2 right now. Also Ruby, Curtis, and for Wade, 6 year-old we anointed at the football field last evening. Please pray again for our food drive which goes on today yet. And of course please keep praying for peace, and folks, please lift Reverend Al Sharpton and Reverend Jesse Jackson to God. I have never heard these men talk about salvation, it seems they just want to push for trouble. Pray, warriors, pray.
Now to the message of today, and remember, we are having communion tomorrow, so bring "The Body and The Blood" with you tomorrow.

Salvation Wednesday 7/17/2013 Getting Ready
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for another beautiful day, and thanks again for all You do for all of us. Thanks for waking us this day and watching over families and friends. Thanks, Lord, for blessing us each day. Lord, please be with the Webster family in their time of sorrow and also with the Witmer family in their time of sorrow. Lord, help us this day with the food collection and bless us with safety. Father in heaven, we have this day we call Salvation Wednesday and we ask to be forgiven of our sins, and we ask please do that and then please open doors for we who are saved to locate people who have not come to Jesus so we can point them in the right direction. Now, Dear Father, please help me with the message and then dispatch it for me. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: Please know when to come in out of the heat. On hot days, if you can, get up earlier in the morning and get your work done before the heat of the day.
Good afternoon, brothers and sisters. Another hot day here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Please keep the Webster family in your prayers. "Dutch" Webster has gone on to be with the Lord. His daughter Karen is married to our son Keith Sr. Also pray for the Witmer family in the passing of Jeff Witmer (not any relation to Helen Witmer or her family). I have known Jeff for a long time and he confessed his life to Jesus, and even with a very bad heart he was still active with the "Fire Police" in our area. Tomorrow I will update our other prayer list. So if you need prayers, let me know.
Salvation Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (NIV)
Romans 10:9 - That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, as I mentioned yesterday, we would be having communion online on Friday, so I want to take today and tomorrow to prepare your mind, body, and soul for this. Really I am just going to tell you what you need to know to get started on being saved. First, you need to know that I cannot save you, your pastor cannot save you, your parents cannot save you, only Jesus Christ can save you. I can only tell you that to get into heaven you need to be saved or "Born Again." Oh, and those scary words, "Born Again." Yes, this is one-on-one, between you and Jesus to be saved. Some people think you need a certain church to be saved, and still others think you need to speak in tongues to be saved. The truth is, you just need Jesus and there is no other way.
So to be saved, pray to our Father in Heaven, through Jesus His Son, to forgive You of your sins. Then ask Jesus "in faith, please" to come into your heart and set you free of all your sins and to turn you away from Satan and all his buddies. Then each day pray to walk with Him and try your best to do it.
Read over the scriptures that I posted for today, they will help you. Now while I say your pastor cannot save you, all of us should have a church where we can get fuel. If you are driving your car and let it run out of fuel, you will need to drift it off the road. Same with your mind and soul, if you do not fuel it with "Jesus," yo will soon run out of "Jesus Fuel" and drift away from Him. Yes, if you do not have a church home, let me know where you live and I will locate you one where the truth is preached.
Now if you are "Born Again" then it is our job to take the message of the Lord to all corners of the earth.
Mark 16:15 - He said to them, "Go into all the world land preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)
Now please know that we need to follow these instructions and tell the good news, and that good news is what? Salvation through Jesus Christ , of course. Please also know when Jesus said to them, He was talking to us, for we are the disciples of today. We have a job to do. So get out the Good News, please, and please just work your area of the world, we cannot go all over the world, we just keep telling others and others should tell others.
Now let's get started by asking God to forgive us, and again, I cannot ask for you, I can only lead you. This is between you and Him. Let's go.
Dear Father in Heaven, please forgive me of my sins, I am indeed a sinner and need washed in the blood of Jesus, and yes, Father, I do believe that Jesus died for me and that Jesus was raised from the dead. So again, please forgive me and put me to work for You. In the name of Jesus, I ask this. Amen.
More on this tomorrow. Just as a side note, and most of you know this, I believe, Mark 16:15 is where we took the name of "Carry The Light" for our Ministry name. Jesus is the Light of the World, so we "Carry The Light." Along the way we went from Carry The Light to Carry The Light Ministries as we have more than one ministry going. That is not boasting about us, just letting you know. One of the outreaches is this daily message.
Now go forth, sharing your blessings and love with others and working for Jesus. And brothers and sisters, it is not always easy, but is always fun and rewarding. Love ya. Pass it on.

Tuesday 7/16/2013 Love 2
Dear Father in Heaven, thank You for another wonderful day, thanks for opening the door for me to pray at a football camp last evening, and Lord, thanks for those who will bring in food for the food drive. Please, Lord, protect Your people from the heat. Lord, I pray again for peace, peace between all Your children, all of us, Lord. Please, Lord, stop the riots or whatever they are called this day. Lord, please teach us all to love one another as Your word tells us. Lord, please help me with the message today and then please dispatch it for me. And Lord, please help me, Lord, to walk daily with You. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: One way to have your car overheat is by having a "fan" belt beak on the road. Now I know a lot of cars have electric fans now, but that belt still needs checked. To do this, BE SURE THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING. Open the hood, locate the belt or belts, turn them over and look for cracks. Unless you know something about cars, this is a good one for your local mechanics to do for you.
Coming on Friday, Communion! We have not done online communion for awhile. It of course is open to all, so come to the message with your bread (The Body) and your juice (The Blood of Jesus).
Dear brothers and sisters. I had a great time last night at the Red/Cedar Patriots Football camp. I opened the camp with prayer and then we kicked off the food drive. I asked Dr. Cox who heads up the football camp for some dollars from his pocket, he had a five dollar bill and handed it to me. I held it up and told the folks that "Doc" just kicked off the food drive by paying for 10 boxes of mac and cheese. They gave him a good cheer, and we gave the glory to God. Pray that a lot of food comes in. It is always great to get to pray in a big group. And it is also great to see men and women who care enough to bring their children to camp, and it is also good to see parents and kids of different races being together and having fun as they have camp. Let me get to the message about Love.
Tuesday July 16, 2013, Love, Day Two.
Matthew 5:43 - "You have head that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (NIV)
Let's start by singing Jesus Loves the Little Children.
"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. RED AND YELLOW, BLACK AND WHITE, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world." Yes, do it again.
"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. RED AND YELLOW, BLACK AND WHITE, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world." One more time.
"Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. RED AND YELLOW, BLACK AND WHITE, they are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world."
Brothers and sisters, I have today's scripture in bold, but I felt it necessary to repeat yesterday's scripture so that this message ties together. I started writing on this, this week as I felt called by God and really prayed about it, to write about "Love" because of what is going on not just in the United States but around the world. If you have been watching the news, you know here in the United States we have a lot of issues going on right now. Protests where people are burning American flags which has nothing to do with the events between races, it seems it is a time to burn our flag again. Only in America can you burn your country's flag, because it is called "free speech" and it is so sad because so many men and women of our military have fought and many have left parts on the battlefields and so many more have given their lives.
Then we have these civil things going on across our land where men and women are protesting because of the trial in Florida, and some are turning ugly. Store fronts are being burned, interstate traffic stopped in one area and cars jumped on. Now I know emotions are high, but help me here, I do not understand all of this, and before I turn to the Bible I just want to put this question in front of all of you. I mentioned above about our men and women of our military fighting so we can have freedom of speech, but freedom of speech does not mean destroying things belonging to others.
But get this, brothers and sisters. Those men and women over the years who fought together for this country were and still are men and women of all colors, yes, we have been in many wars, even since I was born, and arm in arm these men and women, black men and white men, and yes, even those of red and yellow, and the blends of colors have fought together, and women, black women, white women and women of other colors and blends of colors have been together in the military. And now when we even have a president who is referred to as "a black president." President Obama is indeed mixed, he is, folks, from a black father and a white mother. These things just should not be going on. We have just a few pastors who are calling for civil disobedience, and as I see it causing some of the problems, while I am sure there are many, many more, thousands upon thousands of pastors of all races, all colors, calling for peace. I for one, and for those who have never seen me, I am an "old white guy" who looks like Santa, who is calling for peace. This is so wrong what is going on these days. So very wrong. When we pray to our Father through Jesus for total peace, we are asking Jesus to come back. And I asked this again today, how long will God our Father put up with this?
We have murders across this land daily, daily in our cities, we have abortion, the MURDER of babies, and they are all colors and races being killed by abortion doctors, and these children of God stand no chance of life. Babies of all colors being murdered by doctors of all colors, and if I were to bet, and I do not, I would say most of those doctors who murder are of the white race. Let me look at the scripture today, let me bring it forward for you.
Matthew 5:43 - "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect. (NIV)
Jesus is telling us to Love everyone, even our enemy. Well, I have no enemies that I know of, so I try my best to love everyone, I really do, for that is what we must do if we are going to walk with Jesus. Jesus tells us in verse 46 that loving only those who love us is really easy, and what reward will that earn us? And yes, Jesus is talking rewards in heaven. He talks about the tax collectors loving each other, and back then of course tax collectors were referred to as the "sinners." Of course we all know we are all sinners! If we greet only our brothers, and of course that means sisters also, what are you doing more than others, Jesus is asking. Now let me put this right at you. We are all children of God, each and every one of us, even non-believers, all brothers and sisters, so we should love all people today. I can't understand why people just do not try their best to get along. Let me see, it might even start in families, for even in families people fight and we hear about it all the time, a man shoots his wife or a wife shoots her husband, brothers are killing off brothers, and in the United States of America, and I hate to even bring it up, but our black youth and young adults are killing each other. Why are not the Reverends Sharpton and Jackson protesting that? Bill Cosby is doing it, he is tired of it, he is bringing out the facts. Our Lord Jesus loves us all, but I am sure He hates what is going on, I am sure of it. Let's face it, God was not a "happy camper" back in the days of Noah, and He shut the place down, took it all out and according to the Bible it will happen again. Well, do you think for one minute that God is a "happy camper" right now? Do you think Jesus is proud of us? I mean, we are all sinners and when we come to Christ He forgives us of the sins, but some people who confess God are involved in this stuff going on and again not just in America. Look all over the world, fighting, killing, protesting in the streets. Some are protesting because the governments are not giving out enough money. That is going on here in America. Do you know, and this is a fact, there are not more people receiving benefits from our government than are working to earn them and that is not counting the people who have earned the retirement. To put in my words, "there are more people now in the cart than are pulling and/or pushing it." (My quote, folks.)
Matthew 5:48 - "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
Now we know we are sinners, but the Bible tells us to be perfect and that is Jesus telling us that. So each day all people should be doing what Jesus asks, but we can see that is not happening. However, we who claim, and I said WE WHO CLAIM to be Christians need to follow Jesus for that is what being a Christian means. So now I ask you this, do you walk in the Light of Jesus? Do you do your bet to walk in His footsteps? Ask yourself that today, go ahead, ask yourself. It is between you and Jesus, talk to Him. Let's pray.
Father, forgive us of our sins and help us this day to walk each day with You. If we have slipped, help us up and put us back on track. Lord Jesus, we need You, and America needs You, in fact the whole world needs You. Come back, Jesus, and bring peace. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
Now, brothers and sisters, please go and share your blessings and know that I love ya, and yes, pass it on. Pastor Dan. Now let's go out singing ...
He's got the whole world in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands.
He's got the tiny, tiny baby in His hands,
He's got the tiny, tiny baby in His hands,
He's got the tiny, tiny baby in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands.
He's got you and me, sister, in His hands,
He's got you and me, brother, in His hands,
He's got you and me, sister, in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands.
He's got the whole world in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands,
He's got the whole world in His hands.

Monday 7/15/13 Love!!
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for another night and thanks for waking us another day. Please forgive our sins this day. Again we ask for peace this day, peace across this land, peace between races, peace between everyone. Please intervene, dear Father. Dear Lord, please help me with a message and then please dispatch it for me. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: It is summer and it is hot. Please drink lots of water or a sports drink. Sorry, no booze, it does not help in the heat. (I am even cutting back on diet cherry Pepsi to six a day.)
Dear brothers and sisters, again today I ask you to keep praying for peace in this nation, in fact, make it world-wide. Pray for our police and firefighters, for all they do and for our military also. Let me get right to the message.
Love:
Matthew 5:43 - "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, we need to take our lead from the Lord, and we need to love everyone, everyone, regardless of their gender, their race, their religion or lack of it. We need to be praying for all people, not babbling as we talked about last week in the Lord's Prayer, but honest, heartfelt prayer. As Christians we should not be "trouble makers" but peaceful people who want to spread peace.
Our Father in Heaven is hated by many people across this world, yet when He supplies air to breathe, believers and non-believers get the same air, same with water, and as the Bible tells us in the scriptures, the sun comes up over all of us, and so does the rain. So, brothers and sisters, if we truly are Christians, or Followers of Jesus, as I along with many others like to refer to those who really walk with Jesus, we need to really follow Him in all things, and NOT PICK AND CHOOSE to just please ourselves. Going to church does not make you a Christian, following Jesus does.
I mentioned the other day, in this court case that just ended, that only one knows the complete truth, and that is God and that is not just in this case. God knows all things, because He sees all things and He hears all things, and He made all things. Tonight, Glenvale Church of God has their Vacation Bible School, not just tonight but all week. Other churches are doing that also. Maybe this is already done, but I would suggest bringing back this old Vacation Bible School song that I learned years ago.
Brothers and sisters, if you are true believers, then you also believe that we are still children of God regardless of our age. But folks, as you pray, pray for cities, cities like Chicago where just this weekend they had ten murders. Pray for cities in your own area. You read the papers, you see the news, we have to pray and pray and pray and have faith in God, for our Lord will take care of things, for GOD IS IN CONTROL, and soon and very soon, we are going to see the King. Be ready, brothers and sisters. Also pray for our president.
And yes, by all means, go forth sharing your blessings, and know that I love ya. Pass it on. Pastor Dan.
P.S. Pray for Red/Cedar Patriots football camp this week. I go tonight to open the camp in prayer and then on Wednesday and Thursday Grant and I will be at the football camp gathering canned and boxed food brought to the camp for Carry The Light Ministries Food Pantry. GOD IS GOOD.

Friday 7/12/13 The Lord's Prayer 5
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Dear Father in Heaven, please help me this evening as I round out the series on Your prayer. I love You, Lord, and I ask that You would forgive my sins and all those on the line who ask today. Help me dispatch the message. Thanks for all Yo do, dear Lord, and please help that little kitten find its mamma. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.
Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: Never stop on railroad tracks. Many a time we have seen cars, even trucks, and yes, buses, stop right on the railroad tracks. If traffic is backed up on a road where one needs to cross railroad tracks, be sure there is room for you on the other side of the tracks before you go across. ------------ Two men were out hunting one time and were following the tracks. They were hit by a train. Two women were out bear hunting with their husbands. They came upon a sign that said "Bear Left." Okay, Dan, behave!! Enough is enough!!
Good evening, brothers and sisters. I pray all of you are doing well as we close out another week. Just where does the time go? Someone once said they saw time fly, well, that was me. I took the clock and tossed it across the room. Just wanted to see time fly! Stop it, Dan, get serious. Please pray for this tiny kitten, it was found in our yard today, its eyes are not even open. We put it out of the weather but left it for its mother to find. Okay, let me get to the message. Today we will round out our series on the Lord's Prayer.
The Lord's Prayer, July 12, 2013 (Day Five).
Matthew 6:9 - This, then, is how you should pray: "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Amen." (KJV)
Let's now take a look at the next part of this wonderful prayer that our Lord Jesus taught us to pray. "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." Folks, this line, this part of the prayer I want you to really understand what we are praying and what Jesus wanted to get into our brains as He gave us this prayer. First, let's look at the word "debts" which, folks, does not have anything to do with how much money we owe to others. The word "debts" in this case means trespasses and/or sins. I think if we look at it as "sins" it might help us to understand it more.
As we are praying this prayer we are saying to God our Father in Heaven to forgive us of our sins, but we are not asking Him to forgive us of all our sins, or at least not in so many words. What we are asking God to do is forgive us in the same manner or the same amount as we would forgive someone who has sinned against us. So here we go, and I am going to put it at you just as I understand it coming from the Lord. You have someone who did you dirty or caused you a lot of trouble, maybe even put out an untruth about you and got a big old rumor started. And you are really mad at them, but deep down you know and understand that if you want to move on with your life you must forgive them. So you forgive them a little bit, but you are still really upset and you hold some back, deep down in you, well, you just hold onto a grudge. So when you are asking God to forgive you, you are really asking Him to just forgive you some. You are saying, Lord, it is okay for You to hold a grudge against me, for I am holding one against others. We are praying to our Lord Jesus to forgive us, forgive us, Lord, but Lord, we are not willing to forgive all the things others have done to us. So what if we go to the Lord and the Lord would only forgive some of our sins, even if we have cleared the sins of others against us? Fear not, for God will forgive all of your sins, if indeed you have forgiven others. Please, please, take all your prayers seriously, and of course please pray in faith, for it is indeed the faith that will open heaven's doors. As in all our prayers, I believe we should ask God to forgive us before we ask for anything else from Him. In other words, ask for Him to clean you, and then ask to be healed. Okay, let's move on.
Now for the next part where we ask our Father in heaven this, "And lead us not into temptation." Do you remember how Jesus let the devil lead him up on the mountain and then the devil tempted Jesus about different things? Of course Jesus did not bow down to the temptations, but would we be strong enough to not give in? So we are asking Jesus not to put us into that temptation and why did Jesus put this in the prayer? I think He just wants us to pray to Him about the temptations and He will keep us away if we ask. Now, folks, there are times when we might be led into temptations by our Lord if we are indeed working for Him. We might answer the call to go onto streets and talk to people about Jesus where drugs are sold and that those ladies of the evening might be working. And can we handle it? It depends. If you were one who wants to reach out to others and you have just come clean from drinking and drugs, you sure would not want to be led into that temptation. You might be praying, Lord, please, I want to work for You, but I am not ready to handle the temptation of drinking and drugs, so please do not lead me into a bar to preach Your word. Are you getting the picture? Let's move on.
Let's look at the next part. "But deliver us from evil." This Jesus lined up to be with that last line, as we are really asking Jesus to deliver us from evil, and sticking with the last subject, this line is telling me that if I have a problem like drinking, then Lord, deliver me from it. Help me get rid of my addictions. We are asking that God take us away from anything that is evil or bad or in the best way I can put it, if it does not please God. Folks, if it does not please God, then I think it is evil. Amen. Now let's move on.
The end of the prayer goes into praise, "For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever." What are we telling God in this great prayer? We are telling Him the Kingdom is His and He has all power, and we will give Him all the glory or we should give Him all the glory.
And brothers and sisters, we do not praise Him nearly enough, nor do we thank Him nearly enough. So let's do a tad of that right now ... Thank You, Jesus, praise You, Jesus, I love You, Jesus ... I do ...
Now let's wrap it out with this closing "Amen." Which means in this case, "so be it." Let's pray.
"Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Amen."
Brothers and sisters, each time I write on this wonderful prayer I find out more about it. The biggest thing I have forced myself to do is pray the prayer and not just be saying it. All so often as we do things over and over we just do it by memory and we are not really thinking about it. Just putting words together so to speak. Now as we go forth sharing our blessing this day and as I tell you that I love ya and say "pass it on," Pastor Dan, I would like to really pray the prayer one more time. Will you do that with me? And let us take our time and think about it.
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, those who have sinned against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
For Thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen.
