"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
Good Tuesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and the day we pray for God to send a cure for diseases, diseases like cancers, heart problems, kidneys that have failed, and so on, even the croup that is going around right now. Once again today I want to look at some of the Beatitudes that Jesus talked to His disciples about. Let's go to work.
The Big Trip 9-2 The Beatitudes 2: Luke 5:1 - Now when He saw the crowds, He went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to Him, 2 and He be to teach them saying,
5 "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (NIV)
Blessed are the meek, and please do not confuse meek with weak, for indeed the meek might just be a lot stronger than those who we call very strong. Meek people are the ones who have the patience to wait, maybe to wait for the good things. The meek are the ones who have humility, are willing to be humble before God. Maybe you have heard someone say about someone else that that person is really meek and mild, and saying it in a good way. Let's look at Psalm 37 a tad.
Psalm 37:7 - Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret, it leads only to evil. 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more. Though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace. (NIV)
I must tell you that I never had much patience, like a lot of people when I wanted something I wanted to have it yesterday. When I was in the garage business I found out that most all people wanted their car done the day before they brought it in. Once in a while we post on our reader board, bring it in today and it will be finished by yesterday. However, as I grew older I am learning to be more patient and I do patiently now wait for and upon the Lord. Notice it does not say the meek shall inherit heaven, but the meek will inherit the earth. The Bible tells us the "wicked will be no more". THANK YOU JESUS, and the meek will inherit the land and ENJOY GREAT PEACE. THANK YOU JESUS!!
So my dear brothers and sisters, have patience and hold fast and be waiting upon the Lord, our day is coming and coming soon. Please note that we are also told not to fret. Psalm 37:7 and Psalm 37:8 tell us not to fret, and that to me means not to worry, don't get nervous, just get out and work for and follow Jesus. Walk with Him and in the end... WE WIN... THANK YOU JESUS.
Now let's look at Luke 5:6 - "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (NIV)
This one seems very simple to me. You want to be filled with Jesus, you want to be filled with the Holy Ghost, if you want to be filled with righteousness and you hunger and thirst for it, get out your Bible and read it, do some daily devotions, go to a GOOD church, where the word of God, the full and true word of God, is spoken and believed. When you are told something about God, look it up in the Bible, that is where you find the truth. Each day try and hunger and thirst more and more for the Word of God and for Jesus and love Him more and more each day. And in the end, we who are "Born Again", we who have fallen in love with Jesus and we who in the end will dwell in house forever, we will never thirst again... AMEN.
Dear Father in Heaven, I thirst each day for Your Love and to be able to show and tell it to others. Lord, teach me to have more patience and to be more meek, for I do need that. Teach me to teach, and help me sing about You. Today and forever and ever more I want to walk with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Now go forth sharing your blessings. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
