July 21, 2010 Four Letter Words

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"

Good Salvation Wednesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Oh, and yes, I am late this morning, but oh so blessed. We have been loading up one of God's messengers with a "load" of food to take to a fire victim. And we packed out a lot of food and tonight we go and pick up the food brought in by those little kids at the football camp. Please pray that the food coming in tonight will be 10 fold what went out. God works that way, you know. Salvation Wednesday and the day we pray for those who are unsaved and that God will use us in the fields of harvest to help bring in the lost. Are you ready to go to work for the Lord today? You better be!! Also prayers today for Pearl who is now down to 77 pounds. We need to place her in the hands of the Lord. Pray for her family, Sandy, Donna, Dennis, Beverly, Todd and Roy, her six children, as they stand by their mother in this trying time. Prayer warriors welcome Dave to the line and pray for his body to straighten out. And please pray for my wonderful wife Dolores, her pain level is going up and her body is bending and twisting and her legs are going bad and this is happening fast.

Four Letter Words 3: John 1:29 - The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (NIV)

Just a reminder that we are doing four letter words from the Bible this week, so that we can arm ourselves with four letter words that are really great to use. Today God led me to use the Lamb as the first of the four letter words, for indeed it is another name for our Lord Jesus. Yesterday you recall that we used Lord as our four letter word. I do want to point out to you this... The Gospels, Matt, Mark, Luke and John, all four letter words (cut me a little slack on the Matt, folks) and of course John the Baptist. Let's get back to the "Lamb". In Genesis 22 there is a story of how God called on Abraham to offer up a burnt offering and here is just part of the story that talks about the "Lamb":

You see, God asked Abraham to go and offer up that burnt offering. He took his son Isaac with him and when they got to the place where they were told to go they found the fire and the wood. Isaac asked his dad, where is the lamb for the burnt offering, and Abraham answered, God will provide it. When Abraham went to lay his only son on the altar of the Lord, and was ready to slay him for the Lord, the angel of the Lord called out for Abraham not to slay his son and then they found the ram (a lamb) that was to be slain on the altar. Please, please, read Genesis Chapter 22 and how God tested Abraham... and then He supplied the lamb. How will God test us today? Now, God is not going to test us in this way because He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for us. Yes, God sent the Lamb to die for us. But does God still test us this day? I think so, and more often than we think.

I can remember years ago sitting in church, I had 55 dollars with me, a 50 dollar bill and a 5 dollar bill, which should I put in the collection? If I put in the five dollar bill Dolores and I can go out for dinner after church, if I put in the 50, we just go for the cycle ride and have a soda or ice cream. Well, it was a test and I put in the 50 and we went home for lunch and then for a ride for ice cream. The next day I was notified that the rent on my service station (Exxon) was going to be lowered for six months because of some construction on the road. Unheard of that Exxon lowered rent, but it went down $700 a month for six months. When God tests you, please get an A+ on the test.

Revelation 5:12 - In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" (NIV)

Revelation 5:13 - Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them singing: To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power for ever and ever. (NIV)

These scriptures telling us that we need to sing praises unto our Lord God. So tell me, did you figure out that word, the word for Friday? It is what Jesus is all about folks... think and let me know.

Dear Father in Heaven, today I pray for the unsaved, and ask that their eyes and mind might be opened to have their soul saved by You. In the meantime put us to work seeking out the lost for You, dear Lord. Please be with those on our prayer lists today, and Lord, please be with Vicki and Josh. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Go forth now sharing your blessings and using good four letter words... Tomorrow, the four letter word HOPE. And there is always hope with Jesus. Love ya, Pastor Dan.
