"Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen."
Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and welcome to the very first day of the rest of your life... Use it wisely and remember it could also be your last! It is Salvation Wednesday and a great day to be alive and following our Lord Jesus and spreading the good news about Jesus. Today at 2.00 PM Carry The Light will be sharing His Love at The Bridges (2100 Bent Creek Blvd Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and you are welcome. Thanks for your prayers for my wife and our son Matthew. Matthew might get discharged from the hospital today, as for Dolores she tells me she WILL be in church Sunday to play the piano, now that is talking and praying in faith... Again thanks for your prayers, please know I love you and care deeply about you.
Another note, if you know of those in our area that need some food help, please let us know. We have some need stuff in right now including some hams for Easter and some Elk burger.
Remember today to pray for salvation for those who you are not sure about. Each week I ask you to pray for the soul of our President and I don't know if he is saved or not, but we do keep praying. I will be taken to task for this one, but in my humble opinion I don't see how someone can support abortion, including that final term abortion, and be saved. But the judging belongs to Jesus, not me.
The Journey 54: Matthew 6:9 - "Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. 10 Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen." (KJV)
Today we again take a deep look at the Lord's prayer, so please let's just look up about five lines in the message and pray the prayer together. Ready... Amen.
Matthew 6:13 - "And lead us not into temptation." So what does this mean, do you think for one minute that Jesus, who taught us to pray this prayer, will really lead us into paths of temptation? And if you think that He will not lead us into those paths, then why would He want us praying this line? I am sure that this will have more meaning to us as we couple it up with the next line, but before we do that lets take a look at James 1:13.
James 1:13 - "When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone." (NIV)
Now while God does not tempt us, He does ask us to go into the World and tell the good news, and as we travel into the world, of course we are going to run into worldly things, and yes, we will need to be strong so we are not tempted. "And sometimes, my dear brothers and sisters, we let ourselves (ourselves which means once again you and me) go into places we are not strong enough to handle." Let me put it to you like this... Maybe you have had a drinking problem or a drug problem, and you got cleaned out and have even given yourself over to Jesus and are now born again, and of course you want to get working for Jesus for that is what we are commanded to do. So you are thinking, I know right where to head, I know where I used to hang out and there are a lot of people there I can talk to about Jesus. So you head back to that corner bar, belly up to the bar and start to preach. Then you have someone buy you a beer and maybe once or twice you can turn it down, but do you think for one minute you might be able to hang out there? I don't think you can do it. I have watched our dear son Matthew try and do this, and He was just not strong enough to get the job done. You must get away from that old crowd, but that does not mean you need to turn your back on them. You should take these folks to your new-found buddies in Christ and talk to them about those you are concerned about. Folks, I am not saying here that a person who might visit that corner bar for a burger and a drink once in a while is not born again or that someone who drinks a beer cannot be born again, I am not saying that. I am saying if you have a drinking or drug problem you are walking right back into evil. Now to my point, God will not lead you into temptation and if we go into a place we cannot handle working for the Lord, please do not blame God if you fail the mission. This is why you need to pray about the mission fields where God wants you to go, and to be sure and listen for His answer. When working for God, it is important to go where He wants you and not where you want to go. Now let's go back to the Lord's prayer for a minute...
Matthew 6:13 - "And Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:" (KJV)
Now let's again go to the book of James
James 1:13 - When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when, by his won evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. (KJV)
So you can see, my dear brothers and sisters, just why Jesus taught us to pray this wonderful prayer and pray it in faith and then follow it as Jesus carries it on through to God The Father who will do His will, as we have prayed in this prayer for us. And remember my quote and again you are welcome to use it... "If it was/is good enough for Jesus it should be good enough for us." Amen.
Dear Father, it is Salvation Wednesday for us on this line you have furnished us, and we pray for the lost today and that You will use us to bring in the lost to the feet of Jesus to be saved. Help us to remember that we cannot save a soul, that is the work of Jesus. Be with those on our prayer lists, healing cancer, kidneys, livers, lungs, hearts and broken bones and broken homes, etc. And Lord, I just want to close our prayers today by again praying the prayer Jesus taught us to pray...
Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Amen.
Yes, in Jesus' name I pray and give thanks for another day of life and pray that I can follow in the footsteps of my Lord Jesus who died for me... and Lord please bless our concert today... Amen.
Now go forth, my dear brothers and sisters, sharing your blessings and your love for Jesus, who really loves you... and yes, I love you also... Pastor Dan,
