Monday: Workers Called

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters: Each day we are told that the economy is bad, yet for one day yesterday we see a lot of people paying a lot of money to watch a game. People bet on the game, they drink themselves silly, they get into fights, and after one team wins, in this case the Pittsburgh Steelers, the folks go out and set fires, turn cars over, and riot, calling it a celebration ... Go Figure.

Then the next morning bright and early people go out in the cold, again spending large amounts of money, they drink in this early morning, and they play with a groundhog who I am sure would sooner be sleeping ... Go Figure.

More people gather on that hill in the cold on February 2 to cheer a groundhog than come out the first Saturday in May to stand on the Capitol steps in Harrisburg to support the troops that are off to war ... Go Figure.

This past Saturday men and women came to the island on the river in Harrisburg Pa. The ice was cut off the river and people took a dip, this for charity... A good thing ... but still I ask this question ...

Would you gather at the river, at 5:00 a.m., cut the ice off the river, to get Baptized in the name of our Lord Jesus? The news people would say something like this ... Those Christians are nuts.

Prayers today for the Tritt family, their baby was stillborn. Pray for Mildred who is having serious eye trouble. Pray for our President, his family and all of our leaders, for our police and firefighters, and our military.

Workers Called: Today as we keep going following our Lord Jesus, we are going to witness the calling of those first disciples. Do you know Jesus is still calling disciples today?

Matthew 4: 18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea Of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon, called Peter, and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 "Come follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men" 20 At once they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there, He saw two brothers, James, son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed Him. (NIV)

I ask you this, "Do you know Jesus is still calling disciples today?" Folks, the answer is yes, Jesus, the same today as He was back on that day, is calling disciples, and He is calling us to be disciples.

How would you react if Jesus were to walk up to you and just say, come, put down your work and follow me? Would you go? Brothers and sisters, a lot of folks today have answered the call and are still answering the call. Still others are being called into service for our Lord fresh. Now let me tell you that I do not believe that each must lay down their jobs of today and just follow Jesus. There is lots of discipleship work that can be done at the work place.

Brothers and sisters, I know a lot of fine men and women that have laid down other work and went working for the Lord full time ... Pastors, full time Missionaries, Some Gospel singers. I know others who work jobs, and do ministry work for Jesus paid for from their own pocket, and I would say that is most of the people. And listen to me on this one ... some people work for the Lord by working in private work and making donations to those who are working full time in the ministry.

You see brothers and sisters, God wants us all to be working for Him, God wants us all to be disciples. Some might disagree with that, so I point you to Mark 16: 15 where it tells us to "Carry The Light". Here is the command from Jesus from my NIV Study Bible ... Mark 16: 15 "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation."

Yes, Jesus is calling disciples today, are you answering the call? And remember you do not retire from God's work ... Never ... Work from Dawn to setting sun ... Till God calls you home.

Father in Heaven, we want to work for You, I want to work for You. Today I pray that You speak to those on this line, talk to the hearts of those getting ready to go out, regardless of where they are going, speak to their hearts and open them to listen to You. I pray that each person on this line that is not already in Your service start today. I pray today also for our President and his family and all of our leaders. I pray for our military and all of their families. Please, Lord, protect them. I pray for all others who work to keep us safe. I pray Your healing hands upon the eyes of Mildred and ask that You open them for her to see. Lord, bless the Tritt family in the home-going of their stillborn child. Lord I pray your healing hands also on the eyes of Pastor Tony. In the name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.

Now go in peace, sharing your blessings, sharing our Lord Jesus (our best blessing) with others ... Love ya, dan.
