Wednesday 5/13/15 Old Man, Old Story! (6)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. Please cover my sins with the blood of Jesus. Thank You. Please on this day we call Salvation Wednesday, help us to be able to lead someone or more than just one person to the cross of Jesus to be saved. Give us words to say and the ability to say to them, I know the way to Heaven, Lord, and I want to show others who might not know the way home. Please, Lord, bring peace to the streets of America. Please protect our police who have the very hard job of guarding our streets and keeping all people safe. Please also be with our President and keep him safe. Please also  help Mrs. Obama to control what she talks about, as it seems like her words are stirring the pot, so to speak. I also pray today for the Reverend Al Sharpton and I pray he would come to You and start preaching the gospel and the truth as in our Bibles. Please, dear Lord, be with our troops and keep them safe as they guard streets in foreign countries. Thanks, Lord, for all who work to keep us safe and healthy, and Lord, be with those who come today to gather up trash. Lord, did I mention that I love You? I really do, Lord. Please help me now with the message and then to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen!

Dearest brothers and sisters. I want to tell you that this old man really loves Jesus and also really loves all of you. I want to thank all of you who have been praying for Dolores and me and also our son Matthew. Also we appreciate your prayers and support of the ministries and missions of Carry The Light Ministries.

Well, today is Wednesday and that means it is Salvation Wednesday on this line. I guess sort of like a mid-week prayer meeting or a mid-week church service. Please ask God to lead you into battle today, battle against Satan and his forces of evil and into a place where you might be able to witness to someone and lead them to Jesus to be saved. That, brothers and sisters, is the main mission of Carry The Light Ministries. I pray you are enjoying the Old Stories from the Bible as seen through the eyes of this Old Man. Anyway, let me get to work on Old Man, Old Story.

Salvation Wednesday: May 13, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Six)

I Love to Tell the Story (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Hebrews 13:5 - Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you. 6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (NIV)

I don't know about you, my dear brothers and sisters, but as a child growing up I was afraid of the dark, and more than likely I should tell you that there are still times I am afraid of the dark, or maybe the term should be I am afraid of the evil that seems to take over in the dark. Maybe you get tired of hearing about my dear sweet mamma, but I can remember how she would tuck me in at night. When she would go to leave the room, I would say, mamma, please leave the light on. And yes, she would leave a light on for me. (Maybe she should have started by owning Motel Six.) Mamma would also tell me that I will have a couple of people to watch over me as I sleep. Above all else she would tell me that God would be with me, and I would be protected by Him and that He loves me very much. Then she would hear my prayers. "Dear Father, now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. In Jesus' Name, Amen." And yes, my mamma taught me to close all my prayers in Jesus' Name as she would say according to the Bible if we want the prayers to make it to our Father in Heaven, I would need to put them through Jesus. This of course we find in the Bible.

John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (NIV)

Then as my mamma would leave the room she would leave with me a little guy named "Mickey." Mickey was my dog, and brothers and sisters, I have slept with a dog most of my life and more often than not right now you would find three dogs and a cat in bed with me, my TV on with gospel music playing all night. God is a great comforter to me. Our scripture tells us that "He will never leave or forsake us." That is in my lead-in scripture for today.

Brothers and sisters, we have a great and mighty God who watches over us day and night, and yes, He will even watch over me as an old man. How about you folks, do you know that God watches over you day and night? Please as you lay your head down each night, be you afraid of the dark, or storm, know that our Lord Jesus is just a prayer away. And if you forget to pray before you head to bed, know that "He will never leave you or forsake you." Regardless of what you might have done in your life or what you might have done that day, God will be with you. I said God will be with you. He will be watching over you and even if you have not come to Him, he will protect you. However, if you would die during the night and you have not come to Christ, then of course you would be toast. Yes, burnt toast, you might say, for it will be flaming hot where you will be going. How about it, is today the day? Yes, this is an Old Story, and I really like to tell it, but I also need to tell the story for that is what the Good News is all about. Are you ready to come to Christ or to renew in Christ?

Dear Father in Heaven: Please forgive me of my sins. I confess that I am a sinner and I request that You wash me clean of sin. I confess that I love You, Jesus, and I believe in my heart that You died on the cross for us and for me and that God our Father raised You from the dead. Save me, dear Lord, save me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Now pray and go forth sharing your blessings and loving all people. Love ya.

Pastor Dan
