Sunday 5/31/15 Old Man, Old Story! (15)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You. Thanks for saving me and thanks for watching over me and thanks for answering prayers. Father, please be with the Biden family as they grieve the death of their son Beau. Lord, comfort them and stand with them and Lord, please be with all of our nation's leaders as they come together in support of our Vice President and his family. Lord, thanks for Your healing hand upon me through the night and I really appreciate what is going on in my body. Lord, I know what is ahead, I will need Your loving hand to do this. Please, Lord, help me now with a message and then to get it dispatched. Please, Lord, watch over all those who use this line and their families. In Jesus' Wonderful Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, please keep Vice President Joe and Dr. Jill Biden in your prayers. Their 46-year old son Beau passed away on Saturday.

Sunday has been very different here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. I want to pick that up in the message. Please follow this.

Sunday: May 31, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Fifteen)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

James 5:13 - Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. 14 Is any of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well, the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned he will be forgiven. (NIV)

I went to bed late Saturday night, which is very different for me. I laid down and turned on gospel music which I let play throughout the night. I talked to God a lot last night, and He was speaking right back to me. Did I do the right thing writing what I did on Saturday? I went over and over that with God, and He planted over and over again on my heart, yes you did. Then He told me to be patient and He will heal my knees. I could not sleep, three hours of Jimmy Swaggart music and then two hours of a rerun of Joel Osteen. At 6:00 AM I got out of bed and something was different. I slipped into some jeans and out of the house to the crosses and our rock of Hope to pray some more. I came back in and knew things were different. I started to praise the Lord, I mean praise the Lord. Dolores was still asleep. Over and over God keeps telling me to have faith, He is going to heal my knees. I have been told the cartilage between my knee joints is gone and my knees are bone on bone. My knees have been injected over and over again, and last night He told me to lay off the injections and let Him work at them. I was reminded that He still heals and the only difference between when He walked the earth and now is that we have changed. He is still the same.

Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)

Still something was different. MY PAIN WAS GONE!!! I was singing, my pain is gone, my pain is gone. I had no pain and still have no pain. I pray often for even a day off pain, but today is different. I have been here before, the constant pain went away for over three months years ago after being prayed over at church. The pain returned when I did heavy lifting.

Now I need your prayers. Please pray for the pain to stay away and for me to not do something dumb. Please pray I can back out of the drugs on my own and keep praying that God will heal my knees so I can get off the power scooters and walk again. I am still holding onto things to walk, but it is great when I can do it with NO PAIN.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!! Praise God, Praise God!

Now pray and go forth and share your blessings.  Love ya.

Saturday 5/30/15 Old Man, Old Story (14)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You. Thanks for 33 years as of today with Dolores. Thanks for placing her in my life. Thanks for clearing me of my sins. Please, Lord, watch over Vicki as she waits for test results, and Lord, thanks for my great test results from my doctor. All honor and glory goes to You, dear Lord. Please, Lord, keep Your healing hand on Helen and thank You for bringing her through surgery. Thanks for watching over families and friends. Thanks for a great Friday and Saturday. Please help me now with the message and then to get it dispatched. Lord, please help me with the subject You have planted on my mind and to get it right for You. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, what a great two days. Friday morning Dolores and I set out to run some errands. When we came home Grant and Wanda were here working hard on our lawn. Just past noon Pam arrived and we gathered around a table for some homemade meatloaf and to say Happy Birthday to Pam. While together we talked about how we are going to move forward with Carry The Light Ministries. Today, Saturday, is our 33-year wedding anniversary. God has blessed us very well over the years and after a lot of prayers we are once again going to PUSH FULL AHEAD WITH FEEDING THE HUNGRY. With those things said, I want to get to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Saturday: May 30, 2015, Old Man, Old Story! (Day Fourteen)

Today the story is going to take a twist. However, I will come back to Genesis next week and pick up again on the Creation story. Today something happened and after praying about this over and over, God told me that I must write about this. For my scripture I am going to:

1 Peter 5:1 - To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed. 2 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be. (NIV)

Dolores and I had decided that this year on our anniversary instead of going out and spending money for a big dinner that we would head to a local church that was having a community dinner. Now while I am not going to mention the name of the church I do want to tell you a few things that happened. First you need to know that we have been at the church for dinners before when they had community dinners and we left a check to help support that outreach.

Today we arrived a tad early as we also decided to take food from Carry The Light's Food Pantry to be given to the needy who came to eat at the community dinner. I noticed as they began to serve that no one blessed the food that was on the table. Their pastor was behind the serving line helping to dish food. Maybe all the helpers got together while preparing the food and prayed over it. I don't know that. I did not get to talk to the pastor as I struggle to walk, and I was served a very tasty chicken and waffle meal. We sat at a table for a tad over an hour watching people come and go and enjoying our meal. But something was missing. The pastor never went around to any table to greet anybody, and again, no one prayed over the food. When I got up to leave I asked one of the men from the church if I could make a suggestion. He said "yes." I suggested that about every half hour someone might tell a short message about Jesus to those who came to eat ... HE LAUGHED IN MY FACE!!!  I was very serious and even cried when I arrived home. All these poor and needy people coming in to eat and not one person was FEEDING THEIR SOUL. The man did tell me he would place a note in "their suggestion box."

I was also asked what to do with the extra food that might be left over, and I told them to give it to the needy. With that they told me that they would see it went to New Hope Ministry which is a GREAT AND WONDERFUL food pantry. However, being we are a food pantry and pulled the food from our shelves, we did suggest that if there was any left over, and I am talking canned goods, etc., that we would pick them up and return them to our inventory. I do know if that does not happen, New Hope Ministry will not waste the food. They work well with us. We have a good relationship with them and want to keep it that way.

At our ministry I know that I have made many mistakes, but one thing I have learned is that when God assigns you a flock to take care of, meaning a pastor, etc,. we are responsible and accountable to our Lord God for the souls of those that God has placed in front of us, and us includes me. This is only the third time in my life where I attended a dinner at a church and and nobody prayed for the food, and all three times it was the same church.

I do invite all the pastors who follow this line to weigh in on this subject with me. I am old in years, but young when it comes to working full-time for Jesus, and I want to get it right. I can attest to this. All people who have received food from Carry The Light Ministries have been prayed over and also asked point blank if they know Jesus as their personal savior.

Dear Father in Heaven, I pray that I covered this message as You expected me to do without hurting feelings of others but getting the message out that the soul must be fed also. Father, my first duty is now and always will be from now on to do what Your will is. Thanks, Father, for trusting me to work for You. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Now pray and go forth and share God's blessings. Love ya.

Wed/Thurs 5/27-28/15 Old Man, Old Story! (13)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You and I appreciate You more and more each day. It was so wonderful yesterday to see my doctor make a delivery right in the room next to mine. Praise God and Thank You, Lord, for him, a doctor who cares enough for a patient to talk to them about You. Yesterday, doc delivered one to your feet to be "Born Again," and Lord, please let that new Christian know he can call on me for prayer. Thanks again for a doctor who knows who is in charge of his practice. Please, Lord, keep blessing him. Lord, please take care of and heal Helen Thomas as she has female surgery tomorrow. Lord, heal her up and then lead her to a job, and if it is Your will maybe she could be a nurse in Doctor Cox's office. Hear my prayers on that this day. Now please, Lord, I want to pray for Grant and Wanda and ask You to watch over them. Now Lord, as always I need Your help with the message and then help to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters. Yesterday, my doctor was running late, later than even normal for Doc Cox. You see, he was leading someone to Jesus, after which he brought the man to the treatment room I was in and I anointed him with oil and we all prayed with him. The last time I was in, I anointed a "baby in the womb." That baby is doing well and is due on December 5th. All of the doctors at Red Cedar office which is owned by Doctor Cox are "Born Again" as is most of his staff. Yesterday I prayed with one of those who is sitting on the fence. Each day when Dolores and I pray in the morning we ask God to put people in front of us who we can help. And He never, ever fails! Sadly, sometimes I miss the call to do it. Brothers and sisters, there are lots of people out there hurting and Jesus is the only answer! Did you hear what I said? Jesus is the only answer!!! Are you hurting today? Please never be afraid to call on Jesus, and if you need to talk to a person, you can call me at 991 0754 (that is my cell phone number). Please pray for Grant and Wanda. They just really need some good rest. Also for Helen Thomas who is having female surgery tomorrow and as if she needed something else she found out the office she works out of is being closed. So pray please for healing and a job for her. Now on to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Salvation Wednesday, plus Thursday, May 27 and 28, 2015, Old Man, Old Story (Day Thirteen)

Genesis 1:6 - And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water. 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse sky and there was evening and there was morning -- the second day." (NIV)

And brothers and sisters, God made the sky "blue and white" for He is a Penn State fan! Well, once I saw a bumper sticker that said that. Of course if you want to really learn about God we need to read the Bible, not bumper stickers. The only one I saw that was good was one that read, "If you can read this you are too XXXX close!!"

Once again this Old Man picked a story from The Bible and about Creation. Yes, the Old Story of Creation is a good story and I never tire of talking about it. The voice of God is very powerful and we find in creation and also many other places in the Bible God uses His voice to talk about many things. He also talks to us, but most often our ears are closed when it comes to listening to God talking to us. We need to be still and listen and we might hear a lot. If we really did dig into our Bible and we started with "In the Beginning," we would find that God's Word is very, very powerful. I also want to tell all of you that your words are very, very powerful also. They are capable of telling the truth, and they are capable of telling the untruth and a lot of things in between. Half-truths, etc. One thing among many things you need to know and understand about God is what comes out of His Mouth is the Truth, even if we do not understand it at the time. So when God speaks we need to listen. Most all of us were raised to tell the truth, and like most people I have tried, but over the years I have failed on that one. I did, however, ask God to forgive me and He has done that! You see, when you ask God to forgive you and you do it in faith, you will be forgiven.

I wonder if sometimes God The Father and God The Son might sit down together and God The Father say this to Jesus. Jesus, listen to this story that is being told, as they were listening to some fishermen talking about their catch. Now let me tell you that no fisherman can ever top the story of how Jesus fed thousands with just "two small fish" and five loaves of bread. What a great story for a fisherman of today to sit down with his kids or grandkids and tell this amazing fish story right from the Bible. Or they might even tackle the one about Jonah, for that is one "whale" of a story. I have preached on the story of Jesus feeding thousands with just "two fish" and five loaves and so I would not be lying. I would go to the Giant food store, pick out two nice fish with the head and tail still on (clean otherwise.) Then they would wrap them in clear paper so I could keep them wrapped, then they put the heavy paper over them. Then I would ask the clerk to throw them over the counter and I would catch them. Yes, I told everyone I did catch the fish. Now that is the Old Story from the Old Man for today. Leaving you with this. When you open your mouth to say something, please take time to run it through then through your heart, and then even pray about it before you let it out over your lips. For once out there, it is out there forever. And brothers and sisters, if you put it on Facebook, in email or all this other stuff, it is the same as if you said it. Please weigh it out. I see a lot on Facebook that someday people will be sorry they put out there. Trust me on that one. Okay, time to say this:

Go pray, and then please share your love and those blessings, and to go out today let us sing a chorus.

Love ya.

Every Day with Jesus by Robert C. and Wendell P. Loveless

Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before;
Every day with Jesus, I love Him more and more.
Jesus saves and keeps me and He's the One I'm waiting for.
Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.

Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before;
Every day with Jesus, I love Him more and more.
Jesus saves and keeps me and He's the One I'm waiting for.
Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.  (one more time)

Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before;
Every day with Jesus, I love Him more and more.
Jesus saves and keeps me and He's the One I'm waiting for.
Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.

(Now, don't you find it neat that two men with the last name of Loveless wrote a song about loving Jesus more?)

Tuesday 5/26/15 Old Man, Old Story! (12)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very, very much. Thanks for watching over me and taking care of me. Thanks for watching over Carry The Light Ministry and the ministries of Carry The Light. I pray we will always carry ourselves in the Ministry to reflect the Goodness of Jesus and making telling the good news about Your salvation always on top. Lord, we cannot do this without You. Please anoint us this day to keep on working for You. Please bless me now with another message and then to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, Dolores and I took some time yesterday and rolled back the hands of time and went to the parade at Linglestown with one of our old cars. We were married on May 30th, 1982, which was a Sunday that year. For our honeymoon we took two cars and went to the Linglestown parade. I drove our 1955 T-Bird and transported a WW2 veteran. We took the tops out of our 1979 T-Bird and Dolores transported a "Gold Star Mother." It was fun back then and it was fun yesterday. Our car of choice yesterday, our 1985 Caddy Convertible. Yes, we looked like Santa and Mrs. Claus in our summer sleigh, and the kids picked up on that right away. Anyway, I am having a blast with this series, Old Man, Old Story. Let me get started.

Tuesday: May 25, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Twelve)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light, and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night and there was evening and there was morning, the first day. (NIV)

This week as I talk about Old Man and Old Stories, I want to take a look at creation. It will take about a week to get that done. When I look at Creation and how God created it, I want to compare that with our parents and how we were raised for the first few years of our lives. On the first day we see that God started out with nothing. The earth was formless and all there was waters and the Spirit of God was hovering over it. The Holy Spirit looking things over getting ready for God to go to work. In our beginning we were really nothing. We had not yet been formed. However, our Lord God in all His wisdom already knew us. We were but a twinkle in the eyes of our parents as they thought about raising a family. I am sure God thought a lot about what He was doing and I am sure my mamma and pop thought a lot about what they were doing. Two teachers, not making much money and just went through the great depression and I am sure they spent many a night thinking about bringing a child into the world that they might not be able to afford.

As for God, I am sure in the back of His mind He already knew when He was done with creation, He was going to "give it all away" and it would go to us, man and woman. So on that first day God looked around and thought what do we need first? Well, we need light, yes, light was needed so man could see what was being done. So God said let there be light and let all the power companies charge you for it. No, no, God did not say that, but hey, God made light and yes, man made money from it. As we go through the stories of creation you will be able to see how each step would down the road give jobs to those who are willing to work.

And then there was this couple, Sarah Margret Kimmel and Daniel Webster Lehman, who got married and started a family and as we watch how God created the World and all that was in it by speaking, if we look back we can tell that our parents started raising us by speaking. They would tell us how to do things, and they were careful back then that we would get it right. Back then most of us came from families whose parents really looked at God for directions. I know I can remember going to my grandparents, and that was before TV. After supper and after the dishes were done, Pappy would get out his Bible and we would sit around that big table and he would read God's Word.

Now God has been removed from a lot of homes, an it shows. In Baltimore this past weekend, 14 people were shot, 8 were murdered. Way to go, mayor. Stand back and watch. Mayors of our cities, Governors of our states, and President Obama. Want to start to get our nation back as it once was? Have the strength to stand up AND PUT GOD BACK IN. This country like many others WILL FAIL WITHOUT GOD!! Trust me on that one. If you believe that, just tell me by saying I believe it, Amen.

Now pray and then go forth sharing your blessings and putting God back in all you do.  Love ya.

Saturday 5/23/15 Old Man, Old Story! (11)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You. Thanks for a beautiful day and thanks for giving me another day on earth and I pray, dear Lord, I use it to advance You in some way or another. Please watch over our military this weekend, and Lord, please be with travelers. Please also bless Elaine and Art as they start life in the south in their new home. Thank You, Lord, for placing them in our lives. What great neighbors they have been. Lord, You gave us neighbors that we could get together in our driveways with and pray. Please bless them and give them long life in the sunny south until that day when we meet them again, Jesus, at Your feet. Now, dear Lord, help me with the daily message and the to get it dispatched. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, what a beautiful start to our Memorial Day weekend and what once was called Decoration Day. This day as I remember it as a kid growing up was a day to decorate the graves, not just a day to remember our veterans, but to remember all those loved ones who have gone on before us. Please keep our military and our police in your prayers, for they are indeed the protectors of our freedom. Also remember that it is Jesus living in our hearts that gives us personal freedom. Time to get to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Saturday: May 23, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Eleven)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus;

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

2 Peter 2:1 - But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who brought them bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of the truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them and their destruction has not been sleeping. (NIV)

Did you ever know someone who told such wild stories that you just knew they could not be true, yet the one telling the story told those stories so often that they started to believe them themselves? Some told so many stories of untruth that if they told a true one, one might not believe them. Some stories are told to children just for fun. Stories like those about the tooth fairy who we were told as children if we put a tooth under our pillow the tooth fairy would get it and leave money for it. Well, a few years ago I found out that was a lie for I put my denture under my pillow and that fairy never did pick it up. One time he put it on the floor. Some stories that we learned as children could be changed over to work for God. I think of the three little pigs who built their house. One built with brick and it could not be blown down. Yes, we can turn that one into learning to build on the Solid Rock, our Lord Jesus. But that is not just our home we need to build on The Solid Rock. We need to build our lives on Jesus Christ the Solid Rock and try and teach others they should do that also. In our scripture today we are told to watch out for those false teachers, and folks, they do exist. Some are teachers in our schools and schools of higher education. Sadly, some of those teachers are teaching Sunday School and some are even preaching in churches.

Brothers and sisters, God has given us brains and God has given us His Word which is recorded in our Bibles. (If you do not have a Bible, please call me at once, 717 991 0754, and I will see that you have one, courtesy of Carry The Light Ministries.) Anyway, you need to fact-check things you hear, and more so if you are  hearing them from the internet. I welcome all of you to fact-check me with your Bible. That is one reason I do not just quote a scripture, I like to type it out. Yes, it takes more time, but it is worth it. And any job you do you should do it right, be it just for yourself, your boss, and most of all if doing it for the Lord. Shame on a pastor that leads his flock astray. Look what God did to the angels who turned bad. Right to the lake of fire. Look at what happened to the people back in the days of Noah. God has trusted me with a ministry and I fear God and I want to get it done right.

So please do not be deceived when it comes to those telling stories. If you think what someone is telling you is wrong, call them out on it. Let's pray.

Dear Father in Heaven: Give us this day the wisdom and knowledge to know right from wrong and to tell the difference between truth and lies. Please help us to keep our eyes on You and not a person or teacher or even a pastor. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Now pray and then go forth sharing your blessings. Love ya.

Wed/Thurs 5/20-21/15 Old Man, Old Story! (10)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. Thanks for going to the cross to save me from myself. Please forgive me for causing You so much pain. Please, Lord, be with our President and our veterans, plus our current military and all of our police and firefighters and all others who lay their lives on the line for us each day. Lord, I pray today for peace, worldwide peace, Lord. Father, until You send Jesus back, help us to keep working to get people to be saved. Oh, how I love You, Jesus, and I do want to get the good news out about You. Please keep Your blessings flowing on the missions of Carry The Light Ministries and help us in all we do that we do it for You and in telling people the good news about Jesus. Now, please, Lord, help me with the daily message and to then get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Dearest brothers and sisters: Memorial Day weekend is upon us already. Any of you remember what the holiday was named before it was named Memorial Day? Also, I think we should start using the real name for that holiday that happens on July 4th. Yes, it is Independence Day. We need to call the holidays what they really are named. Anyway, I want to get to the message. This Old Man has been having a good time writing about those Old Stories. I also want to try hard to get back to daily writing. Trust me, when you do not see me writing, it is because my pain level has been to a point my thinking is going south. I covet your prayers and being put on prayer lists. One of these mornings I just know, I just have faith I will wake up, here on earth and be pain-free because God will take care of it. Someone please shout AMEN. Now let me get to the message, Old Man, Old Story! And please remember that yesterday was Salvation Wednesday, but you can work just as hard for Jesus on Thursday.

Salvation Wednesday/Thursday: May 20-21, 2015: Old Man, Old Story! (Day Ten)

I Love to Tell the Story (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

2 Corinthians 9:6 - Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (NIV)

One day back when the streets were still dirt, my parents sent me out the door to go to Sunday School. Two dimes I was given, one for the collection plate and one to spend on myself. On the way to Sunday School, I dropped one of the dimes and it rolled down a storm sewer. I said, wow, there went God's dime right down the drain. While I should have given the remaining dime to God, that would not have been according to the Bible. As stated in our scripture, "God loves a cheerful giver." While that story did NOT happen to me, it is just one of those Old Stories that get passed on down the line. I do want to talk to you about that verse in the Bible that talks about being a "cheerful giver." At first when you start giving to God, and everyone needs to get started sometime, most get somewhat of a start either due to the fact they had good parents that taught them right or they would put some money in the plate at Christmas or Easter or the only time they would go to church. When the plate would pass by you really hated to give up more than a dollar, yet you would think nothing of spending dollars here or there for other things or junk. I have heard many times in my life and even years and years ago I said the same thing. "Until I get done paying the bills there is no money left to give to the church." Well, first of all we need to learn this, "You are not giving money to the church, you are giving the money to God through your church." The money is for the work of our Lord that your church is to be carrying out. But the biggest thing I learned when it came to giving to God is that if I would give to God first and gave to Him in faith, I could not out-give our dear Lord. Seems I could write a check out for God first and when I was done paying the bills there was some money left over. That, brothers and sisters, made me happy, and I became a "cheerful giver" and that of course is spelled out in our scripture of today.

Now I want you to look at another scripture with me. All throughout scripture we are told to not put God to the test except for when it comes to our giving. Let us look at Malachi 3:8.

Malachi 3:8 - Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. "But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'" "In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse, the whole nation of you, because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this" says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have enough room for it." (NIV)

Again if we learn to give in faith to support God's work, He indeed will replace it with even more and more. Yes, go ahead and test Him, but be sure you do it in faith. Now you need to learn this also. You will become a cheerful giver for when you find your way to support the work of God and that work of God is to get the news about Jesus, Salvation, and His grace and mercy out to the masses. We have found out that the feeling you get all over when you help the needy makes you cheerful, it makes you feel really good all over. You do need to learn this, of course. When you give, you should try and be sure that you are supporting what you think you are supporting. If you are giving to a church, you need to find out what that church is supporting and if it is something that you would support on your own if you could. As an example, I want to point out that some churches support gay marriages and our good Lord does not approve of this. Some churches also say abortion is okay, that is up to the woman. So if you are a member of a church you need to find out where your dollars go and what they support. In other words, read the Word of The Lord, your Bible, and do what God wants done. Also, it is not always dollars that you can use to support the Lord, you can be working for Him by using the talents He furnished to you. Now this also could be used as a part of the "Golden Rule." Give unto God as you would like Him to give unto you. Amen.

Let us sing that chorus again:

I Love to Tell the Story (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Now pray and then go forth and spread the good news and share your blessings. Love ya. And please pass on my love to others.

Tuesday 5/19/15 Old Man, Old Story ! (9)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. I am indeed a sinner and I really appreciate that You went to the cross to forgive me of my sins. I am not worthy of that and I really am sorry that I am a sinner. I confess that I do sin and need help in repenting. I try harder and harder to get near to You and please, Lord, help me with this. Thanks for trusting me to work for You, dear Lord. Please help me again this day with a message and please help me get to the computer more regularly. I confess that I indeed need some healing for at least the time I am at the computer as the pain is taking away my power to think. Please, after You help me with the message, help me to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Brothers and sisters, as you can see in my prayer, I would appreciate your prayers covering some pain issues. We need to also be praying for our country and for our President to start to respect our police officers. Yesterday President Obama put an order out that police should not be using riot gear and armored vehicles. I wonder how he would feel if the secret service agents would not be around him or be unarmed when they were. This all makes no sense to me. Pray, warriors, pray. I want to get to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Tuesday: May 19, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Nine)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

1 John 1:5 - This is the message we have heard from Him and declared to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as He is the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us for all sin. (NIV)

Exodus 20:16 - You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. (NIV)

The people from our generation were taught not to lie. At my home, if I lied I would find there was a price to pay. Most often the punishment was the same as if I cursed. My mamma would wash my mouth out with soap, and she used homemade soap for that. In fact I think they named that soap for me, it was called lie soap. Anyway, there was a saying my mamma taught me. "Confession is good for the soul." Well, that saying comes right from the Bible. First, we are told in scripture not to lie. This is pointed out in Exodus 20:16 which of course is one of the Ten Commandments, and again that is also brought forth in 1 John 1 starting with verse 5. The Bible talks in many places about confession, and one other place that I want to bring out today is from ...

Romans 10:9/10 - That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that yo confess and are saved. (NIV)

My mamma used to ask me this. "Danny, are you lying?" And sometimes before I had a chance to answer she would say, "Daniel, don't you lie to me. God knows and I talk to God." Everything we ever did, God knows about. However, once we confess our sins over to Him, He puts that away, you are set free from it. "Confession is good for the soul." Did you ever do things growing up and then you would worry so much that your parents would find out you finally went and told on yourself? I think this is a good day to confess to God that we are sinners and ask God to clean us up. If you have never done this before, this would be a great day to give yourself over to God. Let's do it!

Dear Heavenly Father, please forgive me of my sins. I love You very much and I believe that You died for me and were risen from the dead. Please clean me and place my name in the Lamb's Book of Life. In Jesus' Name, I give thanks and praise. Amen.

Now pray and go forth and share your blessings. Love ya.

Saturday 5/16/15 Old Man, Old Story! (8)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You, and I want to thank You and give You the glory for taking care of me and a health issue I had yesterday. All honor and glory for it, Lord. Lord, please protect our nation and please protect Your people as we have another good weather weekend. Lord, please protect this line and please help me with the daily message and to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, yesterday morning Dolores and I were about to pull out to run around and get a few things done away from our earthly home. When I got up yesterday one of my few hernias was pushed out and really burning and stinging. I told Dolores I cannot get it pushed back in. My doctor warned me that this day would come. I told Dolores we might be going to the ER. So before I even started the car, we called upon the Lord to handle the problem and as Dolores prayed and I screamed out in pain, the Lord took care of the problem. The pain in that spot is gone, the stinging and burning is gone and the hernia is back in. All honor and glory to God. YES, ALL HONOR AND GLORY TO GOD.

Brothers and sisters, I am sure having fun writing this series, Old Man, Old Story. I sure hope the Lord's messages are coming through me having fun as I write. Today I want to talk to you about a really good story. This happened long ago already, so let me get started with Old Man, Old Story.

Saturday: May 16, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Eight)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Matthew 7:12 - "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the laws of the Prophets." (NIV)

You all I am sure know this scripture put this way: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." More than likely your parents taught you this, or maybe a school teacher or a Sunday school teacher also reinforced this, what we learned as "The Golden Rule." If all of us, yes, all of us, would lead our lives with this, it would all work better in all of our lives and it would work better for us each day. So as I talk to you just a tad today, let me tell you this. If we would just learn to start each day with some singing and praising the Lord and then as you go through the day we remember the "Two Great Commandments," Love God and Love your neighbors" and also remember to apply them and also apply "The Golden Rule," each day would go better for all of us. Do you agree on this one? Let's pray about it.

Dear Father in Heaven: Please forgive us each day as we start out without You. Please help us work with You each day, remember the Great Commandments and love You, and we love others and treat them with all the respect that we would have others do to us. Lord, it sounds so simple that You would think we would get it right. However, it seems that we just want to walk out on our own. Please help us get it right each day and come to You first. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Now please pray and then go forth sharing your blessings and loving God and loving others. Love ya. And by all means please also share my love with others.

Friday 5/15/15 Old Man, Old Story! (7)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You and I really appreciate Your love for me. I am surely unworthy of that love, but again I appreciate it. Please forgive me of my sins and help me repent of my sins. Thank You, dear Lord, thank You, dear Lord, for watching over us each and every day. Dear Lord, I ask that You place Your healing hand upon Francis Swaggart and heal her. Please also help that ministry reach its goal for the month to pay the bills. Please also  help the word about the cross to get out worldwide. Lord, please be with our military, our police, and all of our first responders and keep them safe. Please, Lord, help Dolores with her pain and suffering. Now, Lord, if You will please, help me with the message and then to get it dispatched. In Jesus Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters. After many, many prayers and discussing the many ministries of Carry The Light Ministries, I am so pleased to tell you that we are gearing up the food pantry again, and also Santa's House. Yes, we have people coming back for food again and we are doing a better job of controlling that. So we are going to be going out to build up our food stock and to start getting ready for the Christmas Food Distribution. After resting and getting a hold on the food pantry so we would be running it for the Lord and not those coming for food running us, God has once again given us the go-ahead to go full steam back into helping others with food. PRAISE GOD, PRAISE GOD, PRAISE GOD.

God has been and I am sure still will be very good to us. While we have signed on to help Volunteers of America and place food in their houses, they are rebuilding that mission, it is just not enough and does not move along fast enough for us. So we will do both. We hope to clean up both the food pantry and Santa's House on our upcoming work day. We will also need to update a freezer and also change a few things in Santa's House as we are also going to make it into a wedding chapel. I ask all of you who have supported us in the past to weigh in on these missions that God has talked to me about. We will need prayer support, of course. We will need helpers as before, and yes, some financial support will be needed. Please let me know what your thinking is. Thank you for your ongoing support of the ministries of Carry The Light. We love all of you. Now let me get to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Friday: May 15, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Seven)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

When I was young, in my teens, I would go to my pop and mamma for advice. Most often I did this after trying to work things out on my own. I can remember going to my parents when I wanted to purchase my very first car. I found this 1947 Oldsmobile Convertible at a car dealer and it was $250.00 and I had the money all saved up. My mamma could not understand why I needed the car two years before my 16th birthday. Pop, well, he was a little more understanding. Long story short, my pop went with me to the car dealer and talked the man down in price about $5.00 or $10.00 or about enough to cover the tags and title. Then mamma drove us back later that week and pop drove it home. The next day and also most every Saturday after that, my buddies and I would get together at my home and we would put the top down, wax the car which was black, and then start the engine, turn on the radio, and pretend we were driving around. One thing neat about all of these things was mamma would make us lunch, most often soup and toasted cheese sandwiches. She also got to talk to us about some Bible stories. One of these she brought forth came from the book of James.

James 1:2 - Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trails of any kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. (NIV)

In James, mamma pointed out to all of us boys about seeking wisdom. She told me about how she and pop talked to God to get wisdom about me getting the car well before I turned sixteen. After talking to God about this and seeking wisdom, they figured if I were to purchase the car mamma would know where I would be. And she was right. She also got to teach us all how to pray before our meal and even went as far as to teach us that we should pray before we would take the car on the road. I had two years to learn this, and I was the oldest of our little group. There were many times I would take the car and later on take cars on the road without praying first. However, Dolores and I have made it a practice to stop at the end of the driveway, put the car in park, and pray before we hit the road. We want God to be on-board with us as we travel. One thing I want to point out today with this message is to try and get all of you to go to God first, seeking Him out for wisdom and understanding before you start something. I know many times I wished I had prayed first about something instead of praying later after I got myself into trouble trying it without God. If we would only learn to have faith and trust God ahead of time instead of walking out on a limb and after we have it half sawed off, we call on Jesus to see what to do next. Now I am praying that some of the old stories that this old man is passing down will help all of you.

I do want to tell you this! Everything we really need to know we can find in our Bible. We just need to look it up. Sing this chorus with me, please.

Seek Ye First (Karen Lafferty)

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness
And all these things shall be added unto you.
Hallelu, Hallelujah.

Ask and it shall be given unto you.
Seek and you shall find.
Knock and it shall be opened unto you.
Hallelu, Hallelujah.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness
And all these things shall be added unto you.
Hallelu, Hallelujah.

Ask and it shall be given unto you.
Seek and you shall find.
Knock and it shall be opened unto you.
Hallelu, Hallelujah.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Now go and pray, then seek His wisdom and then go forth and share those blessings and share the wisdom you have learned. I love ya. Please share my love with others.

Wednesday 5/13/15 Old Man, Old Story! (6)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. Please cover my sins with the blood of Jesus. Thank You. Please on this day we call Salvation Wednesday, help us to be able to lead someone or more than just one person to the cross of Jesus to be saved. Give us words to say and the ability to say to them, I know the way to Heaven, Lord, and I want to show others who might not know the way home. Please, Lord, bring peace to the streets of America. Please protect our police who have the very hard job of guarding our streets and keeping all people safe. Please also be with our President and keep him safe. Please also  help Mrs. Obama to control what she talks about, as it seems like her words are stirring the pot, so to speak. I also pray today for the Reverend Al Sharpton and I pray he would come to You and start preaching the gospel and the truth as in our Bibles. Please, dear Lord, be with our troops and keep them safe as they guard streets in foreign countries. Thanks, Lord, for all who work to keep us safe and healthy, and Lord, be with those who come today to gather up trash. Lord, did I mention that I love You? I really do, Lord. Please help me now with the message and then to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen!

Dearest brothers and sisters. I want to tell you that this old man really loves Jesus and also really loves all of you. I want to thank all of you who have been praying for Dolores and me and also our son Matthew. Also we appreciate your prayers and support of the ministries and missions of Carry The Light Ministries.

Well, today is Wednesday and that means it is Salvation Wednesday on this line. I guess sort of like a mid-week prayer meeting or a mid-week church service. Please ask God to lead you into battle today, battle against Satan and his forces of evil and into a place where you might be able to witness to someone and lead them to Jesus to be saved. That, brothers and sisters, is the main mission of Carry The Light Ministries. I pray you are enjoying the Old Stories from the Bible as seen through the eyes of this Old Man. Anyway, let me get to work on Old Man, Old Story.

Salvation Wednesday: May 13, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Six)

I Love to Tell the Story (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Hebrews 13:5 - Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you. 6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (NIV)

I don't know about you, my dear brothers and sisters, but as a child growing up I was afraid of the dark, and more than likely I should tell you that there are still times I am afraid of the dark, or maybe the term should be I am afraid of the evil that seems to take over in the dark. Maybe you get tired of hearing about my dear sweet mamma, but I can remember how she would tuck me in at night. When she would go to leave the room, I would say, mamma, please leave the light on. And yes, she would leave a light on for me. (Maybe she should have started by owning Motel Six.) Mamma would also tell me that I will have a couple of people to watch over me as I sleep. Above all else she would tell me that God would be with me, and I would be protected by Him and that He loves me very much. Then she would hear my prayers. "Dear Father, now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. In Jesus' Name, Amen." And yes, my mamma taught me to close all my prayers in Jesus' Name as she would say according to the Bible if we want the prayers to make it to our Father in Heaven, I would need to put them through Jesus. This of course we find in the Bible.

John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (NIV)

Then as my mamma would leave the room she would leave with me a little guy named "Mickey." Mickey was my dog, and brothers and sisters, I have slept with a dog most of my life and more often than not right now you would find three dogs and a cat in bed with me, my TV on with gospel music playing all night. God is a great comforter to me. Our scripture tells us that "He will never leave or forsake us." That is in my lead-in scripture for today.

Brothers and sisters, we have a great and mighty God who watches over us day and night, and yes, He will even watch over me as an old man. How about you folks, do you know that God watches over you day and night? Please as you lay your head down each night, be you afraid of the dark, or storm, know that our Lord Jesus is just a prayer away. And if you forget to pray before you head to bed, know that "He will never leave you or forsake you." Regardless of what you might have done in your life or what you might have done that day, God will be with you. I said God will be with you. He will be watching over you and even if you have not come to Him, he will protect you. However, if you would die during the night and you have not come to Christ, then of course you would be toast. Yes, burnt toast, you might say, for it will be flaming hot where you will be going. How about it, is today the day? Yes, this is an Old Story, and I really like to tell it, but I also need to tell the story for that is what the Good News is all about. Are you ready to come to Christ or to renew in Christ?

Dear Father in Heaven: Please forgive me of my sins. I confess that I am a sinner and I request that You wash me clean of sin. I confess that I love You, Jesus, and I believe in my heart that You died on the cross for us and for me and that God our Father raised You from the dead. Save me, dear Lord, save me. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Now pray and go forth sharing your blessings and loving all people. Love ya.

Monday 5/11/15 Old Man, Old Story! (5)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You and I love to tell You that I love You, but more so I want to try my best to repent of my sins and walk each step with You. In other words, dear Lord, I want my actions to speak more than my words. Please help me show my love for You as I ask this day for Your help to repent and live a better life for You. Please, Lord, be with Helen Thomas and help her through surgery. Be also with the family and friends of the police officers who were murdered recently. Please, Lord, be with our military, our police, and all those who are working to keep us safe. Please also help bring peace in the neighborhoods across the United States where it seems like our children, those in their twenties, are just killing each other. Please, Lord, help our black brothers from shooting each other. Lord, You are the One and only One that can put a stop to all of this. Lord, help us to help You get it done. Please help me now with a message and then to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Brothers and sisters, what a beautiful Mothers Day and another beautiful day here at the Southern Location of the North Pole. Almost everyday we hear of another place that is going to open that sells booze. More and more places to purchase booze and the home brews. Is there anyone besides me that thinks maybe if the booze was stopped or put under better control that some of these murders and shootings would stop? Now besides the murders and the police that were killed, one 21-year old in our area is dead because of a drug overdose. With all that said, our police need to be afraid to do their job for fear they do not have the support of their higher-ups as in Baltimore, where the mayor even had the police stand down while a section of the town was burned down. Things are backwards here, folks. There is one common denominator in all of this. There is no Jesus. People have walked away from God. Where are the people who love Jesus? Why are they not coming out from behind the walls of the church? Brothers and sisters, we need Jesus more than ever. Please, brothers and sisters, please pray for our police officers. They have a job to do and they need our support to get it done. Okay, let me get on to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Monday: May 11, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Five)

I Love to Tell the Story (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Mark 1:14 - After John (John the Baptist) was put in prison Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 "The time has come," He said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" (NIV)

I want to take you back to when I was a child, yes, back to the days when in Harrisburg PA, some of the streets were still dirt and my mamma was teaching her little Danny boy this. If you can't say something good about someone, then do not say anything at all. I can truthfully say that I never heard my mamma say a bad thing about anyone. There might have been a time or two that she wanted to, but she never did. In the eyes of my mamma, all people were good people, no exceptions. Never would she put someone down. If anyone was walking in the light of Jesus, my mamma was and she tried to teach it to both my brother and me. One time in Sunday School class at the 29th Street United  Brethren Church the teacher asked us, does anyone love someone more than they love Jesus? I raised my hand and I told him that I loved my mamma more than I loved Jesus. His answer, which I will never forget, was to tell  me that it was a different kind of love. That was the wrong answer then and it would still be the wrong answer today. After Sunday School I told my mamma what I had said and she held me in her arms and told me that the love is the same and I should love Jesus even more than I love her. Then she told me about the pain she went through to deliver me, and then she went on to tell me this Old Story, and now this Old Man wants to tell that Old Story.

The old story is about the Good News and the Good News is about our Salvation and how much Jesus loved us as He took a beating for us and was nailed to a cross for us. My mamma's love for me was unconditional, but even more so, my dear Jesus' love for me was/is also unconditional. When I would mess up at home and cross certain lines mamma would punish me, and then she would forgive me. When I sin, my dear Lord will also forgive me, and do I get punished by Him? Yes, sometimes I do, but in the end Jesus will forgive me, He will forgive me. Did I tell you that He will forgive me? He forgave me then and He will forgive me again today. In our scripture today in the Words of Jesus He just wants us to "Repent and believe." And what are we to believe? The GOOD NEWS about our Lord Jesus and how He died for us. Please do not turn your back on Jesus. Rest easy knowing this, HE WILL NEVER TURN HIS BACK ON YOU. Let us sing that chorus again.

Now I want to ask all of you, will you come to the cross with me right now?

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
the emblem of suffering and shame.
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best,
for a world of lost sinners was slain.

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
'Til my trophies at last I lay down.
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it someday for a crown.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true,
its shame and reproach gladly bear.
Then He'll call me someday to my home far away
Where His glory forever I'll share.

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
'Til my trophies at last I lay down.
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it someday for a crown.

So I'll cherish the old rugged cross
'Til my trophies at last I lay down.
I will cling to the old rugged cross
And exchange it someday for a crown.

Dear Father in Heaven: I come to the cross today and I ask for You to cover my sins with the blood of Jesus. Please save me today, as I love You and believe in You as my savior. I believe the good news about being Born Again. Save me, please, Lord, save me, please. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Now pray and go forth and share your blessings and please share the Old Story about the Good News. Love ya. Please pass on my love.

Saturday 5/9/15 Old Man, Old Story! (4)

Dear Father in Heaven: Thanks for the beautiful days we have been having. Lord Jesus, I love You, and I want to thank You for going to the cross for me. I am so unworthy of what You did for me and all others. Lord Jesus, thank You for setting it up that we got to see Matthew. Thank You for answering our prayers about him. Please, Lord, help him. I pray for our nation today, Lord, and I pray that the United States of America will turn from our wicked ways and come back to You so that our nation will be healed. Lord, You are our last hope, and yes, You have always been our only hope. America, please trust in God. Lord Jesus, please bless and protect our President and other leaders. Bless Mrs. Obama and the girls also, Lord. Please, Lord, protect our military wherever they are serving. Protect our police and keep them safe. Please be with all the firefighters, and Lord, that new class that just finished training at Harrisburg Area Community College. Thank for keeping Chief Coburn safe these years and giving him the ability to teach new firefighters. Lord, be with them as they run into buildings as I and others would be running out. Lord, please help me now with the message and then to get it dispatched. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Brothers and sisters: Prayers were answered as we got to sit down and see Matthew after almost three years. Dear brothers and sisters, please keep praying for him. I want to thank all of you for prayers and give God all the glory. Please note that it seems sometimes our prayers are falling on deaf ears. But they are not, we just need to learn to keep praying until something happens. It is in the hands of God and that is the best and only place to put thins. I pray I will get back to a more daily schedule in writing. I just keep praying the pain will let up. Anyway, I want to get to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Saturday: May 9, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Four)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story!  'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story!  'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Luke 3:2b - The Word of God came to John, son of Zechariah, in the desert. 3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 4 As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him. 5 Every alley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. 6 And all mankind will see God's salvation.'" (NIV)

Mark 1:6 - John wore clothing made of camel's hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. (NIV)

A lot of years ago, although it seems like just yesterday, I was at a "Couriers concert." These men started to sing a song called "John the Baptist." During the song, singer/song writer Neil Enloe pointed tome as to say I might look like this man from the wild. I do admit that I just might look a tad like old John, but I do not like locusts and honey, however, peanut butter and honey, that is good. Ever since Neil did that I look at some of the people from the Bible and think well, maybe this is the one that I might have looked like. I confess I want most to act like and follow Jesus, but looking like John, well, that is not all that bad.

Since being "Born Again" and growing nearer and nearer to God and wanting to follow Him and to work for Him, my message most often is the same message that John the Baptist took out to the masses. Yes, my message for all of you this day would be to "Repent" for the Kingdom of God is near. REPENT, for the Kingdom of God is near. REPENT, for the return of Jesus is near. REPENT and follow Jesus and invite Him into your heart for He is  the way to Heaven, and He is the only way to Heaven. All my messages will not get you into Heaven, but if you follow them, follow what I am trying to tell you and call on Jesus to save your soul, then you will make it to Heaven. One of the rules taught by John and I am telling you this today. These words still good from John today and relayed by me. REPENT, for our Lord Jesus is coming back and soon.

So once again today I want to thank Neil, Duane, Phil, Dave, Tim, Doug, and others who have helped me grow in the Lord and still keep my "Old Man" look as I look back and tell some of those "Old Stories." And while he was called John the Baptist, I will be happy with Pastor Dan or Santa. Yes, Santa. And one of these days, the Old Man Story will tell you how an old man used and still uses Santa (the world's biggest miff) to tell the Old Story of Jesus, the greatest story ever told about the GREATEST MAN who ever walked on the face of the earth.

Dear Father in Heaven, please  help us to follow the words of John the Baptist and also Jesus when they told us to repent of our sins. Help us to repent and walk in the steps and the light of Jesus. Help all those this day that do now know You to come and fall in love with You. Help us serve You this day as we hand out food in Your name. In Jesus' Name, I give thanks and pray. Amen.

Now go forth, praying, repenting and enjoying your day by sharing your blessings. Love ya.

Wednesday 5/6/15 Old Man, Old Story! (3)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very much. Please forgive me of my sins and wrongdoings and wrong thinking. You are wonderful and I really appreciate all You do for all of us. Please on this our Salvation Wednesday help me to get Your message of Good News on Salvation out to those who are not saved or who over the years have turned away from You. Thanks for helping us through this day and putting people in front of us to witness to about Your grace and love. Thanks for taking care of families and friends. Please, dear Lord, be with our President and all of our other leaders. Please bless and watch over our military, our police, firefighters and all other first responders. Please be with those men and women who are so faithful at coming each week in their big trucks to pick up our trash and recycled things. Lord, they work so hard as servants to all of us. Please, Lord, bless them and keep them safe hanging on those trucks. Please help me now with the message and then to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray this day. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, I do really love to tell those old, old stories, and they just never change. I also love the song about that and we will be singing that chorus each day. So today again we will start out again by singing that chorus. Let us get to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Salvation Wednesday: May 6, 2015: Old Man, Old Story (Day Three)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story! 'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

Genesis 2:15 - The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." (NIV)

One of my favorite stories from the Bible comes from the book of Genesis and is built around that very first commandment given to man. Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God even told Adam why. He said if you eat of that tree you will surely die. Now God was very good to Adam. If you read the story of creation, you will see that everything God created He gave over to Adam to have control over. He set up a very few rules. One was that Adam was in charge, God gave him a mind of his own and gave him free will. All the plants and animals were given to Adam and God even made a woman to help keep Adam happy and better still God placed them in the Garden of Eden naked!! How about that, is God good or what? God is good. But with all those tings, God only had one commandment for Adam at the time. Adam, do not eat from that tree in the middle of the garden.

Now I learned several things from this story and that is why this "Old Man" loves to tell the "Old Story." I must tell you that I learned most of the stories, those Old Stories, from my dear mamma. But God called mamma home early in my life so God has opened up some of the same stories and gave me a different slant on things.

On the story about Adam and that commandment from God not to eat from the tree, my mamma taught me that man really messed up here. She also taught me that if I did mess up I should own up to what I did wrong right away. When God questioned Adam about if he had eaten from that tree of the knowledge of good and evil, Adam blamed it on Eve. God, that woman, THAT WOMAN You gave me, well, she made me eat from the tree, she picked that fruit and she fed it to me. But wait, God more than likely said to Adam, I put you in charge, not Eve. And men, if we really MAN UP, we are still in charge of what goes on in our homes if we indeed are Christians. So mamma taught me if I mess up I should man up and not lie about it. Then God gave me another story from that same story. Do not blame others for things you did wrong. In fact, MEN, WE NEED TO COVER FOR THOSE UNDER OUR COVERAGE. Do you folks know that a pastor is responsible for his flock that God puts in front of him? That message is for another day. All pastors should preach on that one.

Now Eve, being no better about the truth than Adam was, put the blame on the snake. So how many sins did Adam and Eve commit that day? They broke the commandment not to eat from the tree, then they lied about it, then they placed the blame on someone else. AND SIN IS OFF AND RUNNING.

So from this story today, what did we learn? One, let us listen to God and obey Him right from the start. If we do mess up, fall short of His glory by sinning, we need to confess up and then ask to be forgiven. We also need to repent of our sins, we need to repent of our sins and go and sin no more.

Dear Father in Heaven: Thanks for the message today and for those wonderful stories from the Bible that still hold true today. Thanks for them, dear Lord. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Now pray and go forth sharing your blessings and your love for Jesus and also 'fessing up when you are messing up. Love ya.

Mon/Tues 5/4-5/15 Old Man, Old Story! (2)

Dear Father in Heaven: Thank You for a wonderful day. It was and still is just picture perfect as only You could paint the picture. Lord, thank You for all You do for all of us. Thanks for walking with me each day and thanks for trusting me to do work for You. Father, please keep Your hand upon and please help me with daily messages. I am struggling to get the messages out each day. Lord, I am tired and do not understand why. But I know that You have the key to this and I ask that You cover this for me and take care of it for me. Please help me now with the daily message and to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters, I started to write this message on Monday evening, and it just seemed like I could not go on for one more minute. There is no doubt that my pain level is taking a toll on me, so I covet your prayers for God to lower my pain level or raise my ability to carry the stronger pain. My dear cousin sent me a note when I started this series, "Old Man, Old Story!" and told me age is just a figment of my mind and that I am still young. To that I say to my dear cousin Martha, I love you, cousin, you are a dear sweet soul. Anyway, this Old Man wants to tell you some of his favorite stories that I like to tell, most of which will come from the Bible, some, however, might come from my past and how I learned from the Bible. I am not going to try and follow any order in those Bible stories, I am just going to try and remember them as they stick out in my mind or as God gives them tome. So let me get to the message, Old Man, Old Story.

Monday/Tuesday: May 4-5, 2015: Old Man, Old Story! (Day Two)

Mark 16:15 - He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)

One of the stories this old man remembers came out of a Bible study I was doing at Hope United Methodist Church and the late Pastor Karen E. Layman was teaching the course. We were doing the study on the book of Mark. In the meantime, Carry The Light was about to go out and sing our very first concert. At this time we had not yet picked a name for our little gospel duo. In other studies, I remember how we talked about Jesus being The Light of the World. Look at this scripture.

John 8:12 - When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, "I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life." (NIV)

I remember like it was yesterday how we looked at Mark 16:15 and I said if Jesus is the "Light of the World, as we are told in the Bible, the book of many books, of TRUTH, and we are to take or Carry that light into the world, why don't we call our group "Carry The Light?" And so that night, many, many years ago, Carry The Light was named. Later on as the ministry grew and grew and became more than one ministry, we added Ministries to Carry The Light, forming Carry The Light Ministries. Later we found it necessary to become incorporated. Thus our present name of Carry The Light Ministries, Inc. The mission of all that we do is to take the Good News to all the corners of the world. God pointed me to senior homes and the thinking was how many people would not just enjoy but would get to hear the truth from the Bible. We also outreached to children as we worked in Santa and Mrs. Claus, and of course one of the main missions was and still is helping to feed the needy. My daily or almost daily writings is also an outreach of Carry The Light Ministries, Inc. What we did that night as we picked a name was to take very seriously what Mark 16:15 said. And to this day, this Old Man likes to tell that Old Story and how we have followed the Commandment that came when Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." And by the grace of God, we will do this until we are called home. Amen.

Now go pray and then go forth sharing your blessings and joining us as we Carry The Light into the world. Love ya, and please share my love with others.

Sunday 5/3/15 Old Man, Old Story!

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You, I love You very, very much and I really appreciate that You died for me and took my filthy rotten sins with You to the grave. Thanks for always being there when I needed You to lift me up, to pull me up. Never once, Lord, did You put me down. It was nice to hear Matthew's voice today, all honor and glory to You for working that out. Thanks for sparing LeaAnne and her unborn baby in the crash the other day. Please keep Your hand upon her. Please, Lord, settle things down here in America and work things out for peace. Please be with our veterans, current military, our police and firefighters. Lord, please keep them safe, as so many people want to hurt them. Now, please, dear Lord, help me with the messages that You want me to put out and then after that help me to get it dispatched. In Jesus' Name, I give thanks and praise. Amen.

Happy Sunday, dear brothers and sisters. In the next few days or longer, I am going to do something a little different. We are going to look at some of the good old stories from the Bible and let you see them through the eyes of an old man. So let me get started.

Sunday: May 3, 2015: Old Man, Old Story! (Day One)

Luke 3:4 - As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him. 5 Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. 6 And all mankind will see God's salvation.'" (NIV)

I Love to Tell the Story: (Catherine Hankey, William G. Fischer)

Chorus:
I love to tell the story!
'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story
of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story!
'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story
of Jesus and His love.

Back on May 16, 1941, when the streets were still dirt and the Dead Sea was still just sick, Sarah Margaret (Kimmel) Lehman gave birth to a baby boy named Daniel Webster Lehman, Jr., the son also of Daniel Webster Lehman, Sr. So as I am about to turn another year older, I talked to God about an old man telling those old, old stories of Jesus and His love for us. So this old man will be telling you some of His favorite stories from the Bible. During this time, I went from when I was born and had no teeth until I got old and again "have no teeth." Also during this same time our Lord Jesus never changed one bit. Here is the proof of that from scripture.

Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, I grew up in Harrisburg, PA. Yes, in the city, my address was 730 S. 27th Street. And my first phone number was 28774. Mamma and Pop were both school teachers. They made me go to Sunday School and Church so I attended 29th Street Evangelical United Brethren Church. There is where I first heard some of these stories, and as an "old man," I want to tell you some of these old stories! Along the way we will talk about these stories and we will do some singing. The first story that I remember being taught as about the Birth of Jesus and how Jesus was born to a virgin mother named Mary. What I remember most was the story of why Jesus was born in the barn.

Luke 2:1 - In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him, and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a Son. She wrapped Him in cloths and placed Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. (NIV)

That of course was the first Christmas and the Story of it as recorded in the book of Luke. Well, many stories came out of that one story and tomorrow we will look at some of those Christmas stories, but for now, why not sing one more round of the Chorus, I Love to Tell the Story:

I love to tell the story!
'Twill be my theme in glory.
To tell the old, old story
of Jesus and His love.

And now a verse of a Christmas carol:

Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon virgin mother and Child,
Holy Infant so tender and mild.
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

I pray that all of you go around singing Silent Night tomorrow at work. Now pray and go forth sharing your blessings. Love ya. Share my love also.

Thursday 4/30/15 Love or Hate! (4)

Dear Father in Heaven: I love You very, very much. I thank You for Jesus and for His dying for me on the cross and I thank You for taking my sins with You to the cross and covering me with the Blood of our Dear Jesus. Father, please protect Your people, and Lord, I pray that there will not be riots and the truth about all things will come forth.  Father, we can see what Your Word tells us, that if we hang out with evil this is what happens. Please, Lord, help pastors start calling on You instead of calling on evil like some of them are doing. Lord, please protect our military as they serve the world over, and Lord, please protect them as they are called on to protect us here on the street of the United States. Lord, please show we who really love You how we can help in what's going on. Lord, please protect police officers and first responders. Lord, please be with our Matthew and help him. Lord, please bring peace, please come back and get Your people. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters: As I mentioned last night, we need to pray and pray and pray. Please keep praying and please put our Matthew back on your prayer lists. We think he is back in a mental hospital. We know he needs long-term care. Okay, let me get to the message and try and get it finished as we have an incoming storm. Love or Hate!

Thursday: April 30, 2015: Love or Hate! (Day Four)

To me, and tell me if I am wrong, I look at these marches that turn into riots, or dare I say mini-riots, are found in the Bible. Are they not wars and rumors of wars? The only difference is we think of these things in foreign lands and think they do not happen here in America. Let us look at some scripture.

Psalm 5:4 - You are NOT a God who takes pleasure in evil: with You the wicked cannot dwell. 5 The arrogant cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all who do wrong. (NIV)

Here we are told that our God does not take any pleasure, not one little bit of pleasure in evil. However, here in the United States we have people who are rejoicing in what is going on in the streets of our nation. And I am going to be bold here and just say I think one who rejoices in these things is a pastor and his name is Al Sharpton. Instead of getting involved with people and leading prayers, he comes in and turns up the heat. So today I ask all of you to pray for Reverend Al Sharpton that he might get on his knees in front of those who follow him and confess himself over to God and ask God to take over in the areas when trouble is expected. Let us look at more scripture.

Psalm 45:7 - You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy. (NIV)

It is very plain to see that our Lord God loves those of us who are righteous and hates those who are wicked. And let me tell you, He knows the difference and He knows who might be "putting on the dog." In other words, God knows which of us who really love Him and try our best to walk with Him and those who are just trying to impress others. With that said, we indeed are sinners, but Jesus knows whose faith runs deep. I am going to say here, I think there are news reporters who are also trying to get things stirred up by the questions they ask. And why would they do that? Well, so they can tell the stories.

News breaking right now as I am writing this. Trouble has now broken out in the "City of Brotherly Love," Philadelphia, PA. Please pray again right now for peace. Back to scripture.

Psalm 97:10 - Let those who love the Lord hate evil. For He guards the lives of His faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked. (NIV)

Again we need to trust in God and we need to pray for those who follow Jesus, and brothers and sisters, we need to be praying for all those Christians who are home in these areas where trouble is being stirred. Think of it, you are seniors like us, or maybe parents with young children and fires are started in a home that is attached to yours. You fear for your lives. You fear for the lives of your small children. Where is the answer to all of this? It is in Jesus!! More scripture.

Matthew 24:4 - Jesus answered: "Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains." (NIV)

These Words of Jesus are telling us that we need to watch that we are not deceived. Jesus is not going to deceive us, but how about politicians? Do some of them not run around like they are God? Like they have control over everything? They state how if elected they are going to do this and that, but after election they cannot fulfill the promises while others do not even try. Some are lining their own pockets. Here we also see the statement about we will hear of wars and rumors of was. The Bible does not say that they will not occur in the United States.

Brothers and sisters, please just have faith in God, try your very best to stay away from trouble and do not get caught up in the rumor mill. When things seem to be getting worse. Go back to God and remember it is He, the Great "I Am" who is in charge. God is great, God is Good, thank Him for everything. Pray hard for this to be over. It is time that we who love Jesus help kick Satan's evil ways out of our lives. (Yes, I was tempted to say we need to kick Satan's backside.) Let's pray.

Dear Father in Heaven: Please forgive our sins, and please help us stand firm against Satan and his evildoer buddies. Make us stronger, protect Your people. In Jesus' Name, I pray. Amen.

Now go forth praying and praying and believing. Sing some praises to God and pray for peace. And yes, share your love of Christ and some of your other blessings. Love ya.
