Tuesday 2/12/13 Getting Dressed

Good Tuesday Morning, my dear brothers and sisters.  It is the birthday anniversary of former President Abraham Lincoln.  (I love it when a president is named after a car.)  I did not hear reminded it is "Fat Tuesday", Fasnacht Day, or Doughnut (Donut) Day.  Well, it is a good excuse to get that lard in your system.  That doughnut is even better if you have it along with a plate of home fries, bacon, eggs, and a few sausage links, two pancakes and some fried bread.  Hey, if you are going to eat some fat, do it right.  Tomorrow starts the Lenten season, and when giving up something or things for Lent, don't give up something you never did or never ate.  It would be like me saying I am giving up going to the movies when I never go in the first place.  No, give up something you enjoy.  Back in my days of childhood my mamma asked me what I wanted to give up for Lent.  I told her SCHOOL!  Please pray today for our nation.  Tonight is the President's annual state of the union address.  Let me see, how do you eat all those doughnuts and then stay awake for the speech?  ZZZZZZZZZZZ  Okay, time to be "Getting Dressed."

Getting Dressed 2/12/13 Day Two.

Ephesians 6:10 - Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.  11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.  12 For our struggles are not against the flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  13 Therefore put on the full armor of God so that when the day of evil comes you may be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything, to stand.  14 Stand then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.  (NIV)

I have brought the scripture from yesterday so as you can refresh your mind on it, and today we are going to look at the Belt of Truth that we buckle around our waist.

Isaiah 11:5 - Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around His waist.  (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, I think sometimes that when we talk about the Belt of Truth buckled around the waist, maybe it should have to be relocated.   How about this, The Belt of Truth buckled around one's mouth!  How dare I say that.  I am just relating it to today, my dear brothers and sisters.  I know that this Armor of God is to protect us, but sometimes our protection that we need comes from some of our own trash talk, lies, untruths, etc., that come forth out of our own mouth.  I have over the years talked many a time about how we must watch what we say.  I am sure that there is not a one of us that would not like to have some words back that you spoke.  I am sure I have said many things that I wish I could take back.  It seems we say things and then we want to take them back, well, folks, you can say, I am sorry," all you want, but the fact is once the words are out of your mouth, they are out there to stay.  I am sure you are all aware of that.

Tomorrow we will press forward with more of the armor of God.

Dear Father, thanks for a great and wonderful day.  Lord, You sure are tops, and Lord, we want to always keep You on top.  Please be with our President as he makes his big speech tonight, and Lord, please protect that room full of leaders as they gather in Washington, DC.  Watch over all those on this prayer line, and also be with families this day, as it seems that in each family there are problems.  Thanks for all that You do for us each day.  In Jesus' name I give thanks and pray.  Amen.

Now go forth, my dear brothers and sisters, and gosh, maybe I should try and get about a thousand of the belts of truth and ship them to Washington, DC, tonight along with a copy of this message that maybe the belt needs installed around the mouth where I talked about.  Share those blessings, my dear brothers and sisters.

Love ya, Pastor Dan.
