January 28, 2010: The Journey 39

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."
Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and welcome to family day on this line. Please take time today to pray for families, for your family and mine, and folks, please, all those families in Haiti that have suffered so very much. Also, and most important, pray for the family of God and that that this family has new "re" births each and every minute of each and every day.

The Journey 39: Matthew 5:6 - "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." (NIV) (Words of Jesus)

Most of us, when we hunger and thirst, we go to the fridge and see if there is anything there to eat or drink. But folks, please don't stop reading after the words hunger and thirst, look for that word "righteousness". Do you hunger more and more each day for the word of God? Let's face it, if you are not hungry for it a tad, would you be reading this line at all? Brothers and sisters, if you really, really hungry for righteousness and the word of God you will find that if you pray and then read a scripture God will open it for you. Then I challenge you to do this... Take the same scripture, take on of the ones you like the best and pray about it and read it and see what God gives you on it. Then, and then, in a few days take that same scripture and pray about it and read it again asking God to open it deeper for you. Then do it again in a few days. Pastors who dig into the word will tell you that God puts a different light on scriptures all the time. If you hunger and thirst for the word, you will find it.

What does it really mean to hunger and thirst for righteousness? Righteous means to do right, do what is good, and to do what is good you must dig into the word of God. I went to my dictionary this morning to look up the word righteous and believe it or not, it referred me to the Bible... I LOVE IT! So I went to my Bible ...

Psalm 37:9 - For evildoers shall be cut off: But those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. (KJV)

Folks, there is no doubt in my mind that those who follow the WORD OF GOD and follow in THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS will be blessed and blessed and blessed and as we give those blessings away we will get more and more and more. Yes, if we stay away from evil we will, as the Bible tells us, inherit the earth, but better still is we will someday RESIDE in Heaven with our Lord Jesus.

Folks, long for it, thirst for it, set time aside each day for it. I know a lot of people take a lunch break on jobs where they really look for something to do. I drive past a Blue Shield office in my travels and since they do not permit smoking on the property I see people driving up the street and park their car with the motor running on the cold days so they can smoke. Gosh, why not go to their desk or in a break room and sit down with the best book in the word, The Bible? Or get a daily devotional and get together a little group and have a discussion on break or lunch. Hunger and thirst for your lunch and let your lunch include the word of God... AMEN.

Dear Father in Heaven, each day I want to hunger and thirst more and more for your word and to do things right. Please help me with that, please help all of us with this. Let us hunger more for You than the burger that You provide for us. Lord, bless families today, and I pray that today I can help bring someone into that family. Dear Father, help all those on our prayer list, and Lord take the cancer from Ron's body today, heal Him today, Lord, and let him know he has been healed... In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Now go forth sharing those blessings and hungering for God more and more, hunger and thirst for good and do it... Love ya, Pastor Dan.
