Friday: Unworthy

"We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty."

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. Today is Friday and the day we pray for those who work for Jesus, all of them.

A quick note please, and please take this for what it is worth. As you may or may not know that when one works for other people and use their time and maybe even their computer for personal use, it could be call "fraud". A lot of the readers on this prayer line receive their email at a work site. Please check with your employer to see if it is ok to receive this mail at your job site, and may I suggest that if they say it is ok that you read it on your lunch or break time. Since "fraud" is a crime and a crime is a sin, it was brought to my attention yesterday that I am helping to promote sin. I cannot tell by your email address if you receive this at work sites and I do not want to lose any of you, so please consider if you are receiving this at work changing the address to your home site. A note here please, if you are working for a tax payer based unit, this could come back and haunt you at a later date. Again, I don't want to lose any of you, so if this shoe is fitting your foot, please address it. If you are self-employed of course you can do what you wish; it is your business and I pray that you would even encourage your employees to read this for a start up of their day. Thanks... Pastor Dan

Prayers also today for "Butch" Bougner who has stage four cancer. Ongoing prayers for Anna Troutman, Don Saylor, Vicki who had a set back with back pain yesterday, and for jobs for Mark and LeaAnne. Praise prayers for the food that is arriving daily at our food pantry... God is good and really does bless those who share their blessings...

If interested, right now I have a 1979 Chevrolet Station Wagon for sale for 400 boxes of Mac and Cheese... How about that....

Unworthy: Luke 17/7 - "Suppose one of you had a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Would he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, 'Come along now and sit down to eat'? 8 Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink'? 9 Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 20 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.'" (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, does your boss invite you home for dinner after you have worked hard for them all day? Maybe you have a picnic and a Christmas party, but most often you get your paycheck and that is it. Are you worthy of more? Most employees think so, as it is always nice to get a raise, but going home with the boss for dinner... not likely, not because it really is not always a good thing, but because we are just not worthy of it, or according to the Bible anyway. If we have worked hard for an agreed wage we should be happy, and if we want more money on the paycheck we should not have a sit down or a strike, we should work even harder.

You know God has laid out things for us to do, repent of our sins, live a clean life, and work hard for your wages, meaning those who "will not work, should not eat." That is in the Bible, folks. We are also to be working for God, sharing our blessings, telling all about the "Good News", helping feed the poor, clothe the naked, and house the homeless. And may I add this right here, our governments, federal, state, local, should not be the ones building the homeless shelters, it should be our churches, it should not be our government that is handing out food, it should be our churches, and the food pantries or food banks should not need to go to the government for help. Ok, back on point... Even if we do all that God spells out in the Bible, we repent of our sins, we work hard for man and for God, we are still UNWORTHY of all that God is giving us, we are unworthy to be at the Lord's table...

This Sunday I will be serving communion at The Bridges (you are welcome, 10.00 AM). This is known as the Lord's Table, and folks, we are so unworthy of going to that table. But our Lord Jesus, who died for us, who went to the cross for us, invites all who believe and have repented from sins. Yes, we are unworthy, and I want you all to know that I know the meaning of WE, I am including myself in that. UNWORTHY, UNWORTHY, but we can work at it, we can try even harder to repent, and even though we are unworthy, our Lord Jesus wants us to come to His table, to repent, and if we repent and believe, some day we unworthy people will sit at His feet in Heaven, and be invite to sup with Him... AND WE JUMP AND SHOUT AND SCREAM TODAY THANK YOU JESUS... AMEN.

Dear Father in Heaven, please forgive me when I forget to pray... Lord, help us through this day. Forgive us when we sin and help us to turn from it and repent, we will never be worthy of what You have done for us, but we want You to know that we on this line sure do appreciate it. Help us this holiday to not take a holiday from You. Walk, ride, fly, travel with Your people and keep them safe... in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Go forth, it is a holiday weekend, the drinkers will be in "high" gear on the roads, please be careful, pray hard before you leave your home for a safe trip, and pray hard for Jesus to forgive your sins... and by all means, share those blessings... Labor Day should not be a holiday when it comes to God, we should have no holidays when it comes to "Laboring for the Lord". Amen love ya dan
