Dear Heavenly Father, thanks for another great day. Lord, I want You to know that I appreciate all of them that You bless us with. Each day You supply us is truly a blessing. Dear Lord, we have an additional prayer request. Please look in on and heal Tom Collins who I understand has injury to his leg. Please keep Your healing hand on Patsy and Burt and also on our neighbor Elaine. Thanks, Lord, for taking care of Dolores and also me. Lord, please watch over our prodigal children that we have listed. Thanks, Lord, on the eve of our Independence Day, we thank You for blessing America, and I am sorry that our country as a whole does not seem to appreciate what You do for us each day. So I pray that our people of our country wake up and start living by Your word and stop abortion and stop the gay marriages, and that they stop trying to take Your rainbow when they do not even know what it means. Lord, thanks for trusting me to work for You, forgive me of my sins and please forgive others as they ask this day. Salvation Wednesday, July 3, 2013, Weapons of Mass Destruction (Day Three).
James 3:5 - Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire and is itself set on fire by hell. 7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, 8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who have been made in God's likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? (NIV)
Let me start today by making this statement. Your very own fingers are also in the same league as your tongue if you are the one who emails,does texting, or use facebook. Remember that once something comes out of your mouth, once those words are out, you cannot put them back in. Same as in sending messages. Once you hit the send button, it is out there. Also, please remember this. God hears it all and sees it all. He can hear even your heart. I need to confess that sometimes my worst sins are in my thinking.
Picture this, it is winter and it has snowed and maybe still snowing. You are at the top of a hill and you make a snowball and get it rolling down the hill as to make a part for a snowman. The more that snowball rolls the bigger it gets. It is the same with words out of your mouth. Gossip is a sin and once a story is out, the gossip can hurt people and hurt them badly. That is why I refer to the tongue as a weapon of mass destruction. Wars can be caused by untamed tongues. Think about that, folks.
Have you ever said something that hurt someone? Maybe even your parent or a child or a trusted dear friend? Did you even have someone tell a lie about you and you had to try and set the record straight? Even if the person who told that lie comes clean, the hurt has been done. Sometimes during an argument between a husband and wife, things get said and some hurt really badly, and brothers and sisters, you can say "I am sorry," but the damage is still out there. I know I have said words more than once I wish I had back in my mouth. When I get to heaven, I am going to hug my mamma and tell her that I am sorry about some of the things I said as a teenager to her. I remember once coming back to our home at 730 S. 27th Street in Harrisburg, PA, in one of my cars, and I had three of my buddies with me. I was bringing back my Ford Coupe and getting the old Oldsmobile convertible so we could put the top down. She came to the back porch and said hello to my friends who loved my mamma dearly. She said to me, what are you doing, Danny? And I made a smart remark, like, what's it to you? And I know that hurt her, even knowing I was joking. So the top went down on the car but my friends said they were not getting in until I told my mamma I was sorry. I told them I was joking and that was not enough, so I went up on the porch and gave her a hug and a kiss. She said I was forgiven, and we shed a tear or two. Gosh, I wish I was not such a brat growing up. Brothers and sisters, use this as a guide ... "If you cannot say anything good about someone, do not say anything." And also do not be a story teller (tell lies). When you speak the truth you can remember it, but when you lie, each time you tell one it grows. Over the years, words have started fights, ruined friendships, caused marriages to fail, split or divided churches and even started wars between great nations. Reporters doing stories must check their facts over and over again, but sometimes wanting to be first out with a story, all the facts are not in and the story is wrong. Sometimes when one makes up a story about another the story even gets in the paper and really causes problems.
God has given us a body with lots of parts, and we cannot go wrong if we always use them ALL FOR GOOD AND FOR GOD. Remember, "get into the Word, NOT into the World." Use your Bible as a fact checker. Now go forth and share your blessings with others. You cannot go wrong sharing your blessings, in fact you will be rewarded with even more great blessings. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Good Tuesday evening, my dear brothers and sisters. Wow, what a buy we made today on mac and cheese for the food pantry. It was so good we purchased very nearly 1400 boxes. Mac and cheese is a very good food to give to families. We try very hard to be good stewards of God's dollars when it comes to purchasing food for families. We also purchase good food to distribute to the needy.
Matthew 25:35 - "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat." (NIV)
Those are the words of Jesus, and brothers and sisters, we try and give food, for we are not just handing it out in the name of Jesus, we are indeed handing it out as unto Jesus. James 3:3 - When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. (NIV)
Today I want to bring up one of the biggest collection of Weapons of Mass Destruction that I can think of, not the biggest, but one of them. Tomorrow, we will look at THE BIGGEST of all weapons of Mass Destruction.
Our scripture today talks about bits in the mouths of horses, and they are used even today by those who use horses and buggies as the Amish folks. Also the bits would be used in the mules that those Amish might use for plowing. We also find that a ship, regardless of the power, the scripture refers to wind, but even the big ships of today are steered by a rudder. The one thing that is the same in both of the verses is that "one man/woman controls the animal or vehicle."
Today I would like to present to you today's weapon of Mass Destruction, and most all of us have at least one of them. Let me call them "vehicles." Vehicles, meaning cars, buses, trucks, tractor trailer trucks, and even motorcycles. Other than the old "hook and ladder" fire trucks, all of the vehicles have one thing in common. They are under the control (or lack of it) by one man/woman who control the direction with a steering wheel, and two steering tires that are on the ground. Those two and most often the front tires are as the bit in the horse's mouth, and the steering wheel as the reigns going back to the buggy driver or horse rider. The steering wheel in the car is likened to the big wheel of the ship and the rudder as the tires. Now one of the things that makes the vehicles a weapon of Mass Destruction is indeed the one who has control over that vehicle, or the lack of control. Each day on our highways people are killed or injured, thousands of them daily. One of the largest problems causing your vehicle to become a weapon is speed. I predict, and you can say you heard it first from me, I predict that one day we will see speed control strips installed in our highways with a computer chip installed in the cars. Think of it, the speed limit is 65 and when you reach that speed, the chip takes over and you cannot go faster. If the weather is poor, a computer operator could enter a code in the strips on the highway and lower the speed. This, of course, would allow more time for the vehicle operators to "talk on the phone, text others, put on makeup, change their direction finder, change music stations, have a sandwich and some coffee." Oh, yes, these kinds of things occur now, and they cause accidents on our highways. Also the condition of the driver, even not using those things, causes crashes. There are very few accidents caused by the vehicle. In other words, like all weapons of Mass Destruction, someone must "set them off." Road rage, of course, is a biggie now, and with rod rage we also have the size of the vehicle. Now a car operator or driver is not really thinking very well if they take their electric car and pull out in front of a "Big Mack." Think truck here and not sandwich.
In wrapping this session up today, I just want to point out to all of you that all of us have a hand on weapons of mass destruction. Be they what we might think of as guns or if it is vehicles. When someone with a gun or guns goes nuts (can't say postal anymore) in a school or shopping center we all think it is bad, and the gun control people want to add more laws (enforce what we have, please). And not many want to talk about the vehicle. Oh, they add more and more air bags, but the truth is it is the AIR BAG that is driving the vehicle that is in control. Vehicles of at least 2,000 pounds and in control of people like you and me become weapons. Help stop accidents, help insurance rates to come down. Be a good driver, and put all your attention to driving.
Also pray for your safety while on the road. Now go forth and share your blessings, and remember tomorrow, I will bring out the biggest weapon of Mass Destruction, and trust me when I say IT IS IN THE BIBLE. Love ya. Pass that on.

Monday 7/1/2013 Weapons of Mass Destruction
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for another great day, what blessings You hand out to us all the time. We just are so blessed and we really do appreciate it. We love You, I love You very, very much. Please, dear Lord, forgive us of our sins, please, dear Lord, forgive me of my sins. Please, dear Lord, keep Your hand upon those on our prodigal sons and daughters list. Please, Lord, be with the families of the firefighters who lost their lives helping others. Please, Lord, be with Jan as she has beast surgery. Please also be with Burt and Patsy and watch over them. Bless, please, Men in Harmony as they ready for summer concerts in gospel music. Be with Tim as he readies for the picnic. Thanks for sending families who need food and trusting in us to have it ready for them. Thanks, Lord, for supplying the food. Please help us to help Grace Fellowship in their new mission of an outreach food pantry in Steelton and Highspire, PA. Thanks for using us. Pastor Dan's Safety Tip: In shopping center parking lots, do NOT cut across the lanes as you drive. Also watch for BACKUP LIGHTS on parked cars. If they are lit, stop and let the car back out. On our tight bus parking lot at Central Dauphin School District, we had a rule, YIELD to the backing bus. So I will say the same on parking lots, PLEASE YIELD to the backing vehicle.
Good evening, brothers and sisters. I have been praying and waiting upon the Lord for a message for this week. And God planted on my mind about weapons of mass destruction and what some of them might do and why we should be very careful with the ones we have in our possession, and we all have some, yes, all of us. Prayers this week, please keep praying for our prodigal sons and daughters, also pray for our veterans and those wounded warriors, plus our current military. Also please pray for the families of those firefighters who lost their lives last night in the wildfires, 19 of them died last night in the southwest fires.

James 3:1 - Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. (NIV)
A lot of us have "guns" and I say us because I have some. I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon and on occasion I do that. I also have another larger handgun and I have a shotgun, a hunting gun. (I do not hunt anymore.) These type weapons if used wrong could be called weapons of mass destruction. We gun owners need to take good care and keep good control over those weapons. But wait a minute, I was an auto mechanic most of my life and I have a lot of tools, and in that toolbox are many tools that could also be used as weapons. Let me point out a few. I have punches, and of course screwdrivers of many shapes and sizes, and yes, as a mechanic I had to have proper tools for each job. And I have a bunch of hammers. We had a saying as a mechanic. Get me the proper tool for this job, please bring me a bigger hammer. Let's, however, look at a few weapons today from the Bible.
The weapons of today coming from the book of James are preachers, teachers, pastors, priests, and all who stand up and teach others. While we think of it as just teaching God's Word, it is the teaching of all things. Even a parent is a teacher and most are good ones. We are told by God to teach and preach the truth, and we need to do that because we are followers of Jesus. Also according to God's Word, we will be JUDGED MORE STRICTLY on judgment day. So as we teach, we need to be teaching the truth, and even in doing these writings I indeed must do all in my power to get it correct as it comes from the Bible. My daddy was a math teacher, and he taught also those math problems where we had to find out what x plus y minus z might be. There is a name for it, I never did figure it out. I know for a fact that 2 plus 2 is 4, unless being checked by the tax people, then the answer would be bigger. Teachers of all subjects in our schools have to get it right, and teachers remember some of the things in the textbooks are wrong. Like how the earth was made and who made it, and how old those big animals called dinosaurs really are. The Bible talks about big animals, but surely they were only a day older than man. And we who preach must also get it right according to the Bible, and trust me when I say we will be judged more strictly, and that is in our scripture of today. Some pastors and even church councils have it very wrong when the talk about gay marriages and unions, for it is against the will of God and that is pointed out in the Bible.
