Good Afternoon, my dear brothers and sisters. I am sorry I am late today, Dolores had a real early doctors appointment this morning, and then I got back and had some problems with the computer. I am finding that the cable computer is slower then my DSL with the phone company was, but we are still working out the bugs, and so far at least I have gotten all the messages out.
It is Wednesday, and that means salvation Wednesday on this line ... the day we pray for the lost and that the Lord uses us to help those that are lost.
Great Gifts 2 ... With a line that has so many people, I want to thank each and everyone who wrote in yesterday with their gifts -- that homework assignment. Yes, thanks to my daughter and the other two. Three people took time to respond on these very busy days. I am thankful for that.

Yes folks ,I think one of the greatest gifts that God gave us was the women. Now I hear some remarks about that, and yes, ladies, I know that some men think they are "God's gift", and I know that both men and women are needed, but listen to this ... My mamma was the very first woman that I loved. And if you all look back and are really honest, I would think that each of you would say the same. After that, I would say our dads came into play. So God made man and He made woman and to this day they are the apple of God's eyes, the love of His very own life. I mean once again I am reminded of John 3: 16 and how God loved us that He gave us Jesus and how Jesus loved us enough to die for us. That is love folks. Let's just look at one or two more great gifts that God gave us, just a couple. Let's also know that these gifts are also blessings. EVERYONE STOP RIGHT NOW AND TAKE A DEEP BREATH ..................................... that breath of fresh air was brought to you by GOD. Not your furnace guy or your AC guy, or those tree huggers. That Air comes from God, even the canned air that man has made to help people breathe, it is from God, you know, "talent on loan from God", as Rush tells us. Yes, man learned to can the air.
Can I dare have you look at the next blessing? Before this day is over, before this day is over, we will go to a room, and before leaving we will put a little handle on a pot and swish, new water comes in. Yes, we take that gift from God, the water, that "Jeff" the plumber with his "talent on loan from God" brought into your home, and we think nothing of it. But it is indeed a great gift. I know I am late today, so tomorrow, more great gifts from God.
Dear Father in Heaven, thanks for my mamma who is now with You, and thanks for my wife. Great women who I loved and love. And thanks for salvation Wednesday and thanks for using us to go into the fields and hunt out the lost. Help us with it, Lord. And Lord, thanks for the air we breathe, and that water ... and yes, thanks for indoor plumbing. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Tuesday: Great Gifts
For God so loved the world!
Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters. I pray the old saying comes true -- If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb. Speaking of the Lion and the Lamb, we better not tell folks that it comes from the Bible or someone will try and block us from using it. It's Tuesday, and that means it is Schools day on this line. Pray for our schools, warriors, and for all who work or attend the schools and all others who go through the doors, and also pray for those school bus drivers and the safety and souls of the drivers and the kids who ride on the "Cheese". And as you pray for our schools and the busses that transport the kids and all who work there and go there, please take time to praise God for our schools and for this true fact ... the safest travel on earth is School Bus travel, based on miles per person traveled.
Great Gifts: As a child, it seems we looked forward to receiving gifts at holidays or at our birthday, but if you are like me, as we age, we look forward more to giving the gifts than getting them.
It is fun to look back at some of those Great Gifts we have received or given in our lives. Let's look at that this week. Sometimes the Great Gifts are just a nice act of kindness. This morning, I cut a couple of oranges in half and "juiced them" into a cup and put them on the nightstand beside Dolores ... fresh squeezed orange juice because today is Tuesday ... no other reason.
Great Gifts: Take a few minutes today and look back on your childhood at some of the greatest gifts you have received. I will never forget one year when I was about five or six and my Aunt Romaine and Uncle Lester came down from Carlisle Pa. around Christmas. They brought me a gift. I opened the nice box to find a roll of toilet paper that had been opened and unrolled and re-rolled. I sat on the floor going through this paper looking for the prize. I got to the end and there was a beautiful pocket comb. It was great, for I liked them, and my daddy would put wax paper on them and play them. It was a great gift in a time when people just did not have much money. It was fun, and yes, my dear late mamma re-rolled the toilet paper and we used that also. I remember another time that my late brother Leonard wrapped up a rock just to see what I would say. When he saw the tears in my eyes he went to the closet and got out a train set he purchased with his paper route money. Then I did cry. I loved trains and still do. Do you have a gift like that? What about one you might have gotten someone else? I can remember bringing a toy drum home for our son Glenn when he was just starting to walk. I was more excited about it than Glenn was. I handed it to him, but I did not show him how to work it... I put it on the floor, and he put his foot right through it ... sort of trashed that gift right from the start. Again, some of the most simple things made the best gifts, but all too often they are not appreciated. Here is a little homework assignment for you ... please look back in your past and tell me two great gifts you received and two great gifts you gave.
Now let me go to the Bible and look at just a few great gifts today. Again, we are going to be looking at this all week, God willing.
John 3: 16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (NIV)
There is not a doubt in my mind that this is the Greatest Gift given in all times by anyone. God gave us His Son Jesus to die for us. However, we will be talking about gifts from God more this week.
Now I want to point out one other thing before I end today. A gift needs both a giver and a receiver. Now I point this out because all too often we do not give gifts in good faith, nor do we receive them in good faith. I will talk about that tomorrow.
Dear Father in Heaven, the Greatest Gift that You gave us was and still is the gift of Your Son Jesus. Also high on the list of the gifts you have given us is our children, and today I want to thank You for our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. What a great gift from God, and I give You praise for them. I give You honor and glory for our school children worldwide and for all who work with them, be they the ones who clean the toilets, cook the food, work in the office, deal with the special needs children, drive the busses, teach the classes, or lead the systems. Lord, bless them all, and today I ask You to go back into the schools, and let your presence be felt. Lord, we need You in our schools. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Monday: Full or Part time?

Good Morning, my dear brothers and sisters, and it really is a good morning. It is Monday, and it is snowing in our area, and blowing some, and the news is telling of accidents in the area. If you are going on the road, remember this safety tip from an old safety man -- SLOW DOWN AND TAKE IT EASY. Easy on the gas, easy on the brakes, and easy on the steering. Remember, you do not make any time at all in your travel when you are sitting on the side of the road filling out accident reports, and your insurance folks will love you even more if you stay out of accidents.
It is Monday and the day we pray for our veterans, our military, our police, our firefighters, and all those who work to keep us safe. It is also the day we pray for our leaders, and we need to really be praying for our President. May I ask you to please pray first for his soul, and then for all of our leaders to get on their knees and pray for God's help in their jobs ... please ... and please trust God to take care of your needs and not Washington -- JESUS IS STILL THE ONE IN CHARGE.
Full or Part Time? A lot of people have lost their jobs, and I would guess that the very first thing they do is to go and sign up for that unemployment check. Folks, and I am serious about this, if I were still working, and I got that pink slip, I would stop and put in applications on my way home from work, and I mean that. I would take a full-time job cleaning toilets or making beds in a motel, or making burgers at a local burger joint. In fact, these jobs that some people look down their nose about are some of the very best jobs. Not because of the pay, not because of the bennies, but because they serve others. Remember how Jesus washed the feet of His disciples? Is that not teaching us to serve others? Now I did jump off the subject a little bit. But let me get back to that pink slip. First of all, if you really love Jesus, really love Him with all your heart, you might look at this as a blessing ... yes a blessing.
Romans 8: 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those WHO LOVE HIM, who have been called according to His purpose. (NIV)
Maybe God wants you to be doing something else in life. In life some people want a job that pays the most. They want those big dollar jobs, and then you can go to the other end of the scale and find that some people want it all handed to them. Folks, someplace in the middle of all of that, you find most of the workers of our good Lord. I ask this today, if you lost that 40-hour-a-week job, what is wrong with getting two jobs that cover 50 hours? No benefits you say ... ok, but you have a job that pays good money. Now here is a real good tip for those hunting jobs. When the market opens up some, those who went and took part-time jobs over the government handouts will catch the eye of the owners of businesses. Am I making any sense? Folks, there are jobs out there to be had, maybe you might need to change fields, but there are jobs out there. If you drive and have a good driving record, go and find out about school bus driving. You might be surprised just how much that pays. Or do this, go to a big food store, find the manager, and tell him or her that you will work a week for free just to show them how good you work. Tell them you will clean the toilets, clean the floor, stock the shelves, bring in carts ... tell them I WANT TO WORK, not I need a job.
Full or Part Time? You know when it comes to working for the Lord, some people work full-time and some work part-time. Let me tell you that those who are not working full-time for the Lord might just be working fool time. While for some people who are in the full-time ministry and working for Jesus it is the way they make a living, all of us need to be working full-time for Jesus. Everyone is called to serve the Lord, however, not all are called to the ministry full-time. Our Lord Jesus was, is, and always will be, the best boss you will ever have, and more than likely the only one who willingly died for you. If you really love Jesus, if you really trust in Him, if you really work for Him full-time, and I am talking about those earning wages through the ministry and also those just working a labor of Love for Jesus, you will find that Jesus will take care of you. He told us that, and He does not lie. The Bible also tells us that those who do not work, well they should not eat ... and that is blunt.
So folks, when it comes to working for our Lord Jesus, always make that a full-time job, and when it comes to going out and earning those wages, part-time is better then no time. And if getting that unemployment check pays more then pumping out burgers, remember you will pay for that in the long run ... trust me on that. Look up, not down, and remember that when you love the Lord, your cup will be running over. God loves you, share His blessings, share His Word, share His love, and step back and watch Him pour it back to You.

And Lord, help those people who lost their jobs to look to You and not look to Washington for a hand-out. Lord, bless our troops, our leaders, our police and firefighters.
